The Red Rose

I along with a group of 8 individuals from work ate dinner at the Red Rose in Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, 18 March 2014. One of the members of our group had been to the restaurant about 3 years before and remembered it being very good. We got there about 7:30 pm and ordered. The waitress then brought out side salads for two of the individuals and we waited for our food. About 45 minutes later the waitress brought out bread for our group and we continued to wait. Our food came over 65 minutes after we had ordered it. We were the only people in the restaurant when we order are food. We had to ask the waitress about our food, she did not come to our table and explain why it was so late. She also seemed very apathetic. Four of the dishes came at the same time, then two more and finally about 5 minutes later the remaining two dishes were served. As one might expect several of the dishes were cold. It was a very bad experience and we teased our colleague for bringing us to the Red Rose. The restaurant name should be changed to the "Wilted Rose".

The food here was good, the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress, a young brunette woman, was rude to us from the get go. She didn't want to answer questions & when I asked if there was a vegetarian dish, she offered me fish. Hello, I said vegetarian. Most Importantly...my mom ordered her seafood dish with NO mussels. We sat towards the back & I could see the server's station. I saw our waitress PICK THE MUSSELS OFF THE PLATE...THEN EAT THEM. With her BARE HANDS. No gloves. I let her bring the dish to the table & asked her for the manager. She said sure, rudely, then never notified her. She ignored our request. I asked another waiter there for help and he very graciously took the dish back & brought her a new meal. At that point, we had waited >40 minutes for our food, before this mess. The server took care of it & never told the manager. The original waitress never returned to our table. We had to get our check from a 3rd server. This is the stuff you see on Mystery Diners. Absolutely ridiculous.
