Hinkle's Restaurant

Columbia has a lot of cool, quaint shops and restaurants in the early 19th century brick buildings that line its American-style downtown. Hinkel’s restaurant is a unique, historic diner with a soda fountain counter, bake shop, and gift shop as well. The food is standard diner fair, well prepared, and reasonably priced. The wait staff when we were there were all friendly and attentive. We were there for breakfast, and I’m looking forward to returning sometime for dinner.

Great place, nice varied menu. Sweet waitress and an old fashioned soda fountain too! Love it, wish it was closer to home. I had the Crab stuffed flounder with grilled shrimp and hollandaise sauce on top plus snow peas. Al had the fried oysters and fried eggplant and corn fritters. He loved it, everything fried! Perfect!!!

I have been coming to Hinkles for over 20 years and am happy to report that the quality has not changed! The food is definitely not fancy but is delicious if diner food is your cup of tea. Their chicken corn soup is incredible as is their burgers, they are juicy and flavorful. The addition of the little mercantile store is also a nice touch, the gifts shop is reasonably priced as well and offers a nice little experience after eating.

This place has a lovely old-fashioned soda parlor inside where you can even sit at the counter! The crab bisque is some of the best that I have tasted. The restaurant is located in the very picturesque town of Columbia, PA, close to the Susquehanna River.

I've been coming here since I was a kid and when it changed and was renovated I was concerned it wouldn't be the same. Thankfully it is the same food the building just looks different! I personally get the burger every time I go and it is the juiciest burger you will have!! Their chicken corn soup is also to die for! Some of the waitresses from when I was a child are there still and I love that!

Way better than any Shari's or Dennys thats for sure!
Got a table quick and the service was wonderful.
All the food is made with love and they have an amazing daily specials selection.
My food was so tender and the gravy meshed so well with the roast beef I was very happy.

Went for a late lunch at 2. No wait. Service was good food was delicious. We got the grilled shrimp with asparagus and red potatoes, and salmon avocado club sandwich. Recommend going there for good food.

A long time staple of downtown Columbia. Recently had a full rehab. A great place for a good diner, any meal of the day. Plenty of booths, tables, and counter seating if thats your thing. Neither too busy or too slow.

We came in to get ice cream from their Ice Cream and Soda Shop. We sat at the ice cream counter. The sundaes were made right away. Everyone enjoyed their sundaes.

I have not personally eaten at the restaurant but plan to! We had a catered dinner at our work. The food stuffed chicken breast, pork tenderloin and roast beef. Was absolutely delicious.

This place is so awesome. It has a nice open layout, the tables are a nice distance away from each other. The food is great and the service is wonderful. They also have a shop called Murphys Mercantile where they have lots of unique gifts for everyone on your list, including plants! They also have candies and an ice cream parlor. Definitely coming back!!!!

I only had ice cream here. Very, very good! Great!

All employees were great. Also there was a gift shop and Bakery.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing, and you definitely get your money's worth. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
It is a popular spot, so it tends to get crowded.

Great, updated local restaurant. Hometown food was delicious. Staff was friendly. There's a little gift shop attached that was fun to look through. If you're going to the Turkey Hill experience, this is a great place to eat a meal close by.

We have eaten here for breakfast and dinner. Inexpensive and delicious. Their meals never disappoint. The restaurant has a fun updated old-timey feel to it. Staff have always been upbeat and happy. Great service.

Always good food at Hinkle's. Never had a bad meal here. It wasn't crowded, but server was more interested in wrapping silverware then taking our order and someone different brought our food.

No country fried steak for breakfast.
:-( But other choices and all were tasty. Love the old time ice cream bar.

Delicious Pork, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes. Very cheesy Mac and Cheese, really enjoyed the cucumber salad. My husband may not have been impressed with his Hinkle burger, but did say his fresh cut fries were done perfectly. Server was great and although it took a little while to get our food, I did not mind as I knew it was all home made. Made it worth waiting for and what is the rush! I go out to eat, relax and enjoy. They also have a great gift shop. Thank you. Last photos are Fried Eggplant, Tuna Noodle Casserole and Cheeseburger with Fries. All so good. As you can see, we eat there a lot. Great home made food.
2/27/21 Decided to try the loaded pierogies and Brussel sprouts as a dinner. Both delicious.

We love to eat at Hinkles every time we are near Columbia.
Great atmosphere, great food, excellent service. Don't miss it!
