Knockin Noggin Cidery & Winery

This is a delightful little cidery/winery tucked in the middle of charming Volant, PA -- a carefully cultivated boutique-shopping-village-style micro-burgh about an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA.
Embedded in a turn-of-the-century home next to the Volant Mill, you'll find a warm and inviting place to sit and rest, select from a few dozen very tasty locally crafted wines and ciders, and enjoy laughter and good conversation.
Ciders range from stolid dry to the ever popular sweet, and the firm frequently produces small batches of specials for various holidays, that may include other fruits such as peach or plum or Christmas spices.
What increases the appeal is a carefully selected short menu of quick and tasty appetizers , melt sandwiches and other excellent accompaniments.
Spending a few hours here is easy. Leaving is hard. Maybe it's the cider?

Great little town & fun cider shop. There is plenty of outside seating where you can either get a snack from them or bring a picnic. Outdoors is dog friendly & right near an area to park your vehicle & walk dogs. Perfect spot to refresh after time in the nearby state park.

Omg! Try the Peach! This place is great. Super nice bar hand/cider handler. Great tasting cider perfect! We did not make it to the wine fell in love with the cider. Have a Growler they fill for around 20$ but bring it back for a 5$ off refill! Amazing!

Great tasty ciders. Good value when you buy by the glass. They have an expensive "growler" price and their growler size, is actually howler size. They are calling there howler a growler

I visited this place a couple years ago…I thought it was pretty amazing..great atmosphere, great service..the Ciders were amazing…I can’t wait to return.

My most favorite place in volant. The cranberry hard cider is the best. I cant get enough of it. Friendly and informative service everytime.

Great flavor and better atmosphere

A lovely place to visit. I've tried several of their hard ciders and today found out with the growlers you can mix flavors. I tried the baked apple and cranberry cider flavors together and they are excellent together. Well worth the trip and I will be back to enjoy a longer visit.

Very welcoming atmosphere and very nice workers. Their selection of wines/ciders is amazing. I love the fact you can mix the flavors! Highly recommend visiting at least once in your life. I will be returning again!

I stopped in while in town for work, and was very happy with the quality of cider and service. They have a wide range of ciders, so whether your prefer yours dry, sweet, or flavored, you can find a match. I tried the peanut butter chocolate cider, and was amazed how they could take those flavors and blend them so well with the apple.

It was fun here! She was tired after the festival that had happened today, but still gave great service and was personable. Rare gem off the beaten path. Most importantly, amazing wine and cider choices. We liked everything we tried. Well worth checking out!

Great ciders and wines. This place is very quaint and among a bunch of other adorable shops. Jess, the server/bar tender and cider/wine expert was really personable. All the tastings are free so you won't be stuck with a cider you don't like. Definately recommend if you are in the area or need a half-way point between Erie and Pittsburgh.

We love coming back here to get wine, cider, and whatever cool delicious things they have available. Super friendly staff! And the cider really is delicious ( but we really miss the dry cider! ) 10/10 worth the visit

Knockin Noggin has great ciders and wines. They also have an event room on their second floor that's a great place to hold a smaller event. We recently had a bridal shower there catered by their staff who were friendly, easy to work with, flexible and eager to please. The food was wonderful, abundant, fresh and attractively arranged with special touches to make it personal. Although they may be relatively new to the catering end of their business, they did a fantastic job and made the day a positive and memorable one.

It’s a cool place and they have good ciders, HOWEVER their pricing structure is ridiculous. A 16oz cider pour is $5 which is reasonable. But, if you want a 32oz growler filled it’s $20. Why not use simple math 2x16oz=32oz should be $10.00. What an asinine idea by management. I will never go back for this reason.

Update: I have received the reply from management, and i have updated my review accordingly. They have changed their pricing structure, and satisfied my complaint.

Capri was our server and she was fantastic. She not only was helpful there but suggested other things to do in the area as well.

Great cider. Always one of my favorite stops in the New Castle area.

Fantastic selection of hard ciders and wines in a quaint area. Start with the ciders. I enjoyed a seasonal Mango cider, as well as a Lemonade and Sweet Tea mix. You can't taste the 8.5% ABV.

A quaint little winery with a great tasting room. Located around a lot of fun shops and restaurants, going to this area is a great afternoon activity. The tasting room attendants are super friendly too and always willing to help you find what's tasty.
