We were skiing at Jay Peak and stopped for dinner. They have fiesta nights on Mondays and it was surprisingly good Mexican food for small town Vermont. Food was fresh, big portions, strong and big margaritas, and very reasonable pricing. We loved it, would definitely recommend if you are in the area! The restaurant is quite small, so you may have to wait a little, but it’s worth it!

This is a great little place right on the main road in Montgomery. First to know, it's a very small establishment, and reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends or holidays. We were lucky enough to get a walk-in table for two, but saw many other groups turned away due to lack of available tables. Also, the menu varies on different days; we were there on Mexican night. The full dinner menu isn't necessarily available on theme nights like Mexican night, but we really enjoyed our food. The guacamole was excellent and the salsa was delicious without being too hot or too mild. The house margaritas were excellent. I haven't had their regular dinner menu, but would love to go back and try some more of their food.

I love coming here, especially for a hefty breakfast. The food is always great, I love the staff and it’s just a cozy place to eat. On weekends I do recommend making reservations as it can get really busy. This wonderful place is also walking distance from the Himalayan Salt caves! Get yourself some breakfast and relax! Or go out for a nice dinner!

Great food at a nice price, very generous portions. Abbigail offered great service & conversation. Sit down dining & bar too. Small parking lot, but I parked at post office & was not a problem. If you’re in the area & hungry, a must!

Totally lucky find! Superb food, very fair prices, very popular with the locals but eating on the later side can help you avoid the crowds. What they do they do extremely well.

Staff is always friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is quiet country. The chef will stop by and say hello. This is a regular stop for me when I'm in the area. no matter what is on the menu or on the special board it's a great meal.

This was a great pick for takeout to bring to Hill Farmstead Brewery! *craft beer geeks take note* The Italian Sub without mozzarella was delicious as a vegan option. My boyfriend said his meal was the best Philly Cheesesteak he’s had in years. 😊

Cute little place, waitress was fantastic and the food even better! (We only got burgers and fries but they were yummy)
Even the chef came out to chat for a bit.
My wife and I will be back!
(Plus, there is a dispensary right across the street! 😎 😉)

Really nice restaurant popular with locals and visitors. On the twice a week Mexican nights, they make really good Mexican dishes.

Took my 2 children here for breakfast during a recent hockey tournament. Food was absolutely fantastic! Everything was seasoned well, especially the home fries, they even had homemade white bread for toast that was stellar.
Coming from CT it was great to eat at a local place that put care and took time into making a wonderful meal. My kids were already understanding the idea that when you leave your town, you go to local places, experience where you are, and get a feel for life outside the sprawling suburb you are normally in. In essence, you leave the resort or hotel area and just do things. This place has charm and a dynamite operator who deserve a shout out!

One of THE best meals I have had in a long time. Worth EVERY penny. One of the owners cooked our meals and all three of us were very happy. Loved our server Noelle as well.

Our small group randomly strolled in on a weekday for lunch. Our meals were excellent and the small town hospitality was evident. The restaurant could use a design refresh, although there’s something kind of charming about leaving it as-is.

This small restaurant has big taste. I had a great meal and a great time at Bernie's. If you are in the area stop by. You will definitely enjoy it. Our burgers were delicious. They were cooked as we ordered, with so much juice. Amazing. All of the produce was fresh and crisp. The cheese, true Vermont cheddar. You can't get this at applebees. I've saved the best for last. The chicken tenders were some of the best, if not THE best fried chicken I have ever had. Golden brown, light and airy breading, and the seasoning true perfection. The chicken is very tender and delicious. Not tough. Not dry. It was like a glorious waterfall of flavor in my mouth. 10 out of 10 for me. I hope that my travels bring me back to the Montgomery area so I can stop by Bernie's and have another amazing meal. And if this review doesn't do it for you, they have booze. Not sure if its a full bar, but still a bar. Everything tastes great after a few drinks. Have a great time at Bernie's

Excellent restaurant!!! Came here two rainy mornings in a row while camping and it was perfect both times. We tried both savory and sweet breakfasts (highly recommend the pancakes!) And they were both delicious. Their homemade white bread is really special !

Very nice place. Food is just great. If you want to eat a homemade food, that's the place. We were really impressed. Plats are big portions. Waitress was always with a smile in her face. I would really recommend. The food is the best nearby. Don't lose time eating fries at the resort. Bernies, thank you for the good food. :)

We were staying at a local B&B, so we ordered takeout from Bernie's one night. We stayed pretty simple: I had the steak quesadilla which was very tasty. My wife had one of the salads that she greatly enjoyed (it was very fresh). We'd eat there again if in the area.

14 Miles away from the Canadian Border, tucked away in the small town of Montgomery (Pop. 559), Bernie's restaurant shares a well earned title with the locals and those fortunate enough to dine at the right this. The secret, this may be one of the best Mexican restaurant this side of the Mississippi. The house margarita stays true to its form, but ads a delicious twist and kick, and the shredded pork enchiladas are delicious, spicy, and well earned comfort food after a cold day of skiing or hiking. 10/10. Will be returning often and soon.

After a long day at Jay Peak resort , my partner and I, along with our friends stopped at this small diner. We were unsure about it at first because it looked like a house , but when we went in it was very cozy and comfortable. The waitress was extremely polite and kind to us and was attentive to her job. The food was amazing, with great portion sizes. Everything was home made and had supreme taste .this little diner may not look like much from the outside , but it's taste and kindness will blow you away ! 5 stars for sure !
