I really enjoyed a great meal here tonight!! When you get great fresh chips, guac and salsa to start your meal, that usually means you will get a quality meal to follow!! I had a delicious shrimp fajita along with a top shelf margarita! The onion ring appetizer was also very good. It was a great treat for my wife and I by my sis who lives in Greenwich and enjoy casual dining at this restaurant. I would highly recommend a visit here. The service was great also..

Great Mexican restaurant with an emphasis on Southwestern fare. Best salsa anywhere. Very good guacamole served with homemade chips. Enchiladas, tacos, and other dishes are good, served with rice and black beans. Very good service. Kid friendly too.

I am a big fan of Boxcar Cantina. I’ve been there a few times, and it has been remarkably consistent.

The atmosphere is very classic, with nice booths. I like that the bar is in its separate room so the noise doesn’t overflow into the dining room.

The staff have always been kind and attentive. Sometimes, service will be a little slow when they are busy.

The food is tremendous. The farm-to-table theme shines. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite.

All in all, I like Boxcar Cantina and will be going back.

We hired the Boxcar Cantina taco truck for a benefit event, and we could not have been more pleased with the truck staff and the quality of the food. They prepare the food in the truck and serve on a table, which was perfect for our venue. They tailored a vegetarian menu for our event, and the food was ample and delicious. The amiable and efficient staff went the extra mile to make sure everyone had enough to eat. We would definitely sign them up again for next year's event!

Been coming here for 27 years and Boxcar continues to be the best nachos I’ve ever had in my life.

Best Mexican in Fairfield County. The chips are fresh and the entrees are well portioned and delicious. Kid friendly too!

I went back to Boxcar Cantina this past Friday and had a great experience.
We ordered guacamole and salsa to share. The serving size of the guacamole is still small for the cost, but we are in Greenwich and also in an insane economy. I ordered the Mexican Salad with Grilled Organic Chile-Crusted Salmon (instead of the chicken it comes with), and my fiancé ordered the Beef Burrito. The food was very good. I especially liked the organic options. What made the night amazing was the excellent service. Both the waiter and host were very friendly. I did not respond to the owner to give a heads up I was coming, as I did not want to receive special treatment in hopes that I updated my review. This will be a regular spot for us in the future. I love the relaxed environment. Perfect for a Friday night after a long work week.

Initial Review:
I ordered guacamole and chips to go. $16 for a tiny (approx. 4oz) serving of guacamole. Insanely overpriced. The guacamole was pretty bland and lacking both texture and flavor. It was literally only avocado and possibly a little cilantro. I don't think I have ever written a restaurant review before. I understand everything is more expensive, but this was absurd. I looked at the menu after I picked up my food. The rest of the menu is more reasonably priced. My fiancé wants to go back for dine in service. I am hoping it will be better. If so, I will update my review.

Food was great as was the margarita. I went for lunch mid week and service was quick. I told the waiter I only had about 45 minutes and it wasn't a problem. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Also they have a parking lot which is very convenient when on a timed lunch hour.

It's kind of pricey but it's worth it food is delicious best guacamole 🥑 I had so far. I recommend , is very kid friendly A+ to me

Took our nieces Lauren and Emme out for their favorite food. Mexican. Haven't been to Boxcar in a long time. Not sure why as the food has always been great. The restaurant was jammed. We went at 6:00 and waited a half hour. They were great moving people along.We started with the guacamole which was excellent. They also give you salsa and plentiful amount of chips.The tacos were really good especially the pork ones. 4 tacos come with an order. The quesadelias were excellent.Service was over the top.

New Mexico influences Mexican restaurant with all the favorites, such as tacos, enchiladas & burritos, and some specialties like green chilie stew and daily specials. The guacamole is outstanding, and the flour tortillas are heavenly. Excellent service - even with our large group with lots of kids. Decor makes you feel like you're in New Mexico without being kitschy.

Delicious authentic food. Clean restaurant with tasteful decor. Would definitely come again and reccomend to visit here. Easy to get to. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food is so good. Margaritas are amazing.
