Amazing food. Those deviled egg were such a good combination of flavors. I had the fresh oysters as-well and they are just so fresh. Overall just amazing brunch.

This was our first time dining at The Whelk! The food was so flavorful and fulfilling! We started with chilled shrimp, roasted oysters, and the deviled eggs. We split the broccoli and fish/chips and it was very savory. My mouth was watering as I took every bite! We also had a tropical mezcal drink and it was absolutely delicious. The almond cake and chamomile tea was top notch. Our waitress Nicole was so sweet and attentive. We will definitely return!!

Amazing food. You must come before 5:30. Amazing oysters 1.50 Amazing Drinks. Happy hour prices. Soft Shell Crab. Is by far 5 star.

Excellent dining experience. My daughter discovered this place about a year ago. Was staying at a place nearby and searched for recommendations. As we both love seafood, we decided to give it a try. Best decision we made. We had the oysters to start and also ordered the old bay fries. Oysters were freshly harvested that day, they were delicious. The fries are freshly made from potatoes and cooked just right. When we made our reservation we made it for 4:30 which is the start of their happy hour. Definitely a plus since we had about 4 dozen oysters and 2 drinks each. They only serve the best alcohol 🥃, not watered down. The atmosphere was perfect. There were even a few kids there which was nice. They were quieter than the patrons 🤗. I would totally recommend A+++

Food was creative and extra tasty. The fluke crudo with snap peas was spicy fresh and wonderful. Baked oysters were also fantastic.

I loved The Whelk along The Saugatuck Rivet. The menu was very creative. I started with Deviled Eggs and Fried Oysters. They were delicious and our waiter said they were voted the #1 appetizer of any restaurant in Connecticut! My husband had for his appetizer: Octopus with potatoes, olives, paprika, garlic aioli. We both ordered the Halibut, with peas, onions, and lettuce gem. Since it was my birthday we ordered an olive cake with cherries, but it was heavy, and made me feel too stuffed. I was hoping they had a light mousse or creme brulee, but on the whole, their creative menu and drinks were great. They also kept the place very clean, and sanitized between new customers they served. Thank you to my husband, and Whelk staff for making my birthday so nice !!😊

Incredible dishes. Fantastic Variations and unique preparations. Here the seafood taste so fresh and tender. Delicious. We had oysters, shrimp and a whole grilled octopus. Perfect. At weekends you have to reserve the tables two weeks in advance. But there are some tables with Barockern, indoors and out, can not be reserved. Here you can always get a seat if you wait a bit. Outside there is also a bit quieter than inside. Recommended!

Totally awesome experience from soup to nuts. The Whelk never disappoints. The seafood is always fresh. The combination of flavors Divine.. by all means make a reservation because it's always packed

Amazing selection of oysters! We also had the fanciest fish sticks on earth as well as pretty tasty toast with muscles.

You can’t beat the location and we were lucky because it was unusually warm for a fall day so we enjoyed sitting outside.

The cocktails would be worth a trip on their own too!!

Really liked this place. Great for a leisurely afternoon lunch. Start with the oysters and find an excuse to order their shareable fries.

This place is a vibe. The food is amazing- I'm surprised that it's not Michelin recommend. The presentation is great as well. I live In ny and travel all the way to CT for their food

The Whelk is hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. I cannot say enough good things about the trout dip, the hamburger with fries is unmatched and they always have great special menu items - the kabocha squash dessert was incredible.
Excellent cocktails & perfect ambiance. Continues to be our go to restaurant for special dinners.

This place is so awesome — just the right balance of inventiveness and ingredient driven simplicity. I loved Le Farm back in the day and the whelk certainty keeps the flame burning bright.
