J. Alexander's Restaurant (Overland Park Grill)

First-time visitors! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. We were lucky to get a fun and energetic server with a great sense of humor, Miss Allie (sorry if I'm spelling your name wrong) The martinis are fantastic, and they give you a generous amount. I had a prime rib, perfectly seasoned and cooked, smashed potatoes are creamy and a little lumpy, my favorite. My hubby had a KC strip with macaroni and steamed broccoli. Everything was delicious. You must try their calamari, it was some of the best I've ever had. Also, next level carrot cake, this carrot cake beats the batter out of all other carrot cakes- it is the reigning champion, and i need to know how to make it.

This was my first amazing experience. It was super crowded and I thought it would be a long wait so I sat at the bar with family. My table was ready sooner than expected. The bartender, waitresses and servers were above and beyond. The food was so good! I will definitely be back.

The food was fantastic. I used to think that places like Texas Roadhouse was as good as it got with steak. After all, what more can you do? But I was proved wrong here and was served an amazing KC Strip and Filet Mignon. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful atmosphere, great staff and delicious food. All worth the money spent here. The Smoked Salmon Dip, Ribeye, Prime Rib, Yummy Sides, and Decadent Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream shared with my Hubby made up one of the most amazingly appetizing meals we've had in years! I know servers come and go, but shout out to our server "J" who had a mocktail made for just my taste, and it was delicious! I give her ten out of ten stars. She's was fantastic at doing her job and made my Mother's Day feel even more special!

Absolutely wonderful meal! The food was exquisite, waiter was terrific and attentive, environmental was elegant.

I had the crab cakes and french fries. SUPERB!! AMAZING!! FRESH!! Yes, all of the above. I think it’ll be a great date night spot as the ambiance is very dim, candles are placed on the table and it isn’t too loud. Personally, the lighting was too dim for my liking, but it’s preference based.
**The one complaint I do have is our waiter kept bringing us lemons in his hands instead of on a plate or a dish.

Steak was perfect to order fries were awesome, atmosphere was great for my 5 yr old son and his iPad. Will definitely return❤

LOVE the dark atmosphere w candles really sets a calming vibe. Server was all business, didn’t mind. They said any meal here with steak is their favorite. They also said queso was a must have and they were right. Extremely flavorful with shredded cooked spinach inside. Reminded me of spinach dip but way better. Calamari was good too, served w homemade marinara. Prices reflect the quality. Cant wait to come back next time we’re in the area. Staff were all professional and friendly. Mojito was the best I’ve ever had (ordered it virgin)

Superb. The atmosphere was great. It was packed but the staff was efficient and friendly. Now that we are past that. This food was absolutely amazing. The steaks were delicious. The salad was great. No salt and pepper needed. The smoked salmon, we scrapped the plate. Then came the carrot cake. OMG. I seriously considered bringing out my inner child and licking the plate. I highly recommend. No. I didn’t lick the plate. Ohhhh and the lemonade, fantastic.

Shrimp appetizer was perfectly fried and came with 2 great Sauces. Salad was pretty average. Swordfish was cooked absolutely great, sauce was spicy but good. The cake was super overwhelming but had lots of flavor

It'll be hard to find another steak house better than here. Steak was melt in your mouth great flavor, paired with the cooked carrots was worth every penny of the slightly higher then average price. Service was great, will visit again next time I'm in Kansas or this may be the reason I go.

Food was very good. Service was great. One of our favorite restaurants. Little noisy for conversation but we'll be back.

Probably my absolute favorite place to eat in the KC area. I have very fond memories of my great uncle Rich taking me to eat here as a kid and as an adult my partner and I love to come at least once a year! The menu has a wonderful variety and everything is delicious!

Service was great. Good atmosphere and the Prime Rib was pretty solid. However I ordered chicken tenders to go for a later meal and those were absolutely the best chicken strips I have ever had in my life. Just unreal. Excellent bbq sauce as well.

It is one of the best places for prime rib. The powerful stuff is only here sometimes, but it is one of the best desserts I have ever had. The Mac n Cheese is so freaking rich, creamy, and delicious

Great all the way around. You would not want to go here if you are on a budget but the food and service provided is well worth the money.
Great for a date night as the ambiance is perfect. It got a little loud after 6:00 PM but still enjoyable experience.

My wife and I ate here for our annual New Year's Eve dinner. It wasn't the first time we've eaten aJ. Alexander's either. Just like every other time, they brought their A-game. The salad are all mixed and tossed, steaks were cooked perfectly, their Mac & Cheese is heavenly and the side of broccoli was perfectly cooked through but still had a little crunch to the stalk. My hat's off to the kitchen staff!
Every time we have visited, the wait staff is friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. They always seem to know exactly when to stop at the table for a drink refresher or the next course of the meal without making you wait to long or hovering. Also, unlike most other restaurants we have visited on NYE they didn’t give us a set amount of time before running is out. Instead, they let us sit at our table and enjoy our date night together.
Oh, I highly recommend the deviled eggs with camels bacon if it's on the menu when you go too.

Some restaurants you have certain expectations and J. Alexander's seems to always meet those expectations. My wife and I shared the deviled eggs and they were pretty good. We enjoyed a Moscow Mule and a Mojito. I had prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. The taste was amazing with the au jus and horseradish sauce. I would prefer a baked potato over the mashed potatoes they served. My wife had the swordfish and she said it was fantastic. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Another great dining experience at J. Alexander's.
