I agree with a previous guest. It's a hidden gem.

Anne and David are genuinely gracious hosts. There is always warm fire going in winter and they actually sit down at the dinner table and get to know you.

David is very knowledgeable about a long list of topics and Anne is an excellent cook, especially when it comes to dessert.

It's a great space to get to know other guests and make friends. If it seems expensive, the added experience of socializing makes it worth it.

For me, it's a perfect place to stay.

This place is a hidden gem - Anne and her husband have such incredible hospitality from the moment you walk in to when you step out the door. I booked a last minute stay right before a snowstorm to ski at Stratton (mere 10 minute drive) - they were accomodating to our evening arrival time, showed us the entire layout of the inn (downstairs gameroom, large open living/gathering area, dining room with ski trinkets) then out room. They made us complementary breakfast the next morning with whatever components we wishes to add and had hot tea/coffee waiting for everyone. Our room had 2 comfy beds with a small bathroom that had a shower, bathroom, sink. It's a skiers delight to stay in a place like this! Will most certainly return if I'm in the area.

There are two standards for running a business. There's "customer service" standard, where you get the bare minimum service to not sue. And then there's the Ann and David Standard of Excellence where you actually want to stay in touch with them after your stay. You have not experienced the feeling of being welcome until you stay at the Alpenrose with Ann and David. All the loyalty points and free upgrades don't mean anything at your chain hotel exactly because you had to accumulate them before you were treated well. With Ann and David, they treat you as though you've reached Gold Status before your first stay. First, let's get the obvious out of the way. The Alpenrose is as quaint a country stay as you can get. Ridiculously zen views in every direction. 1700s cow barn rebuilt into an inn and meticulously maintained by the proprietors. Beautiful, wood-fired stove to heat the common areas. And every room has a story and feels like sleeping in a warm hug. Breakfast and dinners by Ann, who's a world-class chef. Honestly, 3 days isn't enough. And lucky for me, I needed more than 3 days when our van broke down at Stratton and I had to get it to a local mechanic. For the entire time that it was out of commission, Ann and David treated me and my friends like I was family. As a typical New Yorker, I tend to be skeptical about everything. Why are you being so nice? What do you want? But not Ann and David. They wanted nothing for helping us out AFTER we checked out. They were sincere and genuine. They were real ones. Not only did they host me in their near-perfect inn, they also offered to drive my friends back to Stratton on a Sunday so they didn't miss their day on the snow. On top of that, they also drove me to the mechanic to pick up my van after it was repaired - 2 days after I technically checked out! THIS is what it's all about and why they've forever spoiled me to how all other companies treat me. As much as I wish every business operated based on the Ann and David Standard of Excellence, I realize the only place I'm really going to get it is at the Alpenrose. That said, Thank you Ann, David, Aeran, Jake and all the awesome neighbors that came by to chat with me and keep me company as I waited for my van to get fixed. You guys rock!!

Such a lovely inn. Our hosts were super gracious and accommodated us perfectly. We were a group of six on a bike tour of southern VT and fortunate to have stayed the night at the Alpenrose Inn.

Annie and Dave are really nice. There's a room to accommodate anyone (large groups, pets, etc). The inn is very homey and are more than welcome to accommodate any need. Breakfast is included every morning and is freshly made to order (the blueberry pancakes are delicious). Dinner costs extra, but is worth every penny.

Kindest and most thoughtful hosts you could ever hope for. Inn is everything that you need and nothing that you don’t. You’d think we were VIP based on how our group was treated. I could list the ways they made this a great visit, but the list would be indefinite.

We had such a wonderful stay at Alpenrose. Anne & David warmly greeted us when we arrived and showed us to our room, which they’d graciously upgraded for us. The Yodeler room fit out needs perfectly. We were the only guests here the first night, and had great conversation getting to know our hosts and their cat Niles. The inn is large, with plenty of shared space to hang out, and it’s wonderfully appointed with rustic decor. Anne and David clearly take great pride in their home and sharing it with their guests. The game room in the basement was lots of fun, and Anne made delicious breakfasts custom to order. The inn is well situated, just a few minutes drive from Bromley, Stratton and Magic Mountains, if you plan on skiing. David is clearly passionate about the skiing here and can give you any details you may want about the trails on these mountains or cross country skiing out back. We had a wonderful stay, and certainly expect to return. Thanks to David & Anne for being such wonderful hosts!
