The staff at Kindred quickly became like family to my brother during his stay. They kept me updated on his condition and informed about his progress all along the way! The compassionate and professional care he received was TOP NOTCH! I highly recommend their services and care for you or your loved ones.

My younger brother GSA, spent his last 5-ish weeks of life unresponsive, in a coma-like state. The hospital told us he was going to require mechanical feeding and ventilation for the rest of his life. A very young man of 47, for many years he suffered from numerous other medical issues. We met Carmen at Kindred a couple of days before he was to be transferred to this Step-Down ICU. She spoke to us warmly and professionally. She gave us a tour of Kindred, and we were immediately impressed with this small, very clean, warm, friendly facility, and all of the staff in it. Mom and I agreed that this place was close to home, and it was a good place for GSA to continue his journey. Well, GSA only lasted 10 more days, as he was constantly fighting fever, infection, and antibiotics were helping, but his immune system shut down. He passed on New Year’s Eve. Mom and I were called in to see GSA once more, and say our goodbyes. Again the nurses and staff were very kind to us. Mom was a wreck, and they brought her something to eat and some drinks. They gave us time and space, and this awkward, uncomfortable experience was made more comfortable. Kindred is a good place with great, caring people.

I've been here for a while, all the nurses and doctors have treated me good. Everyone from Dialysis have been so good to me. Kim from wound care was gentle and very friendly. My nurse Louisa was the best nurse. Dave from respiratory was my favorite. Carmen thank you for always checking on me and Denise for all your efforts.

My son was getting transferred here from Jefferson hospital. I have never heard of this place before so I did a pop-up here after hours on a rainy night to check out the facility. The guard at the desk so nice and asked me to give her a minute until someone was available to give me a tour. Just speaking to her I felt the comfort that each of these employees would later give to my son and I. I was taken on a tour of the place that night. The staff here took my son in and treated him like he was one of their own. I could not ask for more caring people to take care of him. Keana and Charles were always great when coming and going. Louisa I hope she stays just the way she is. She is perfect. Carmen took me in and I felt like we actually belonged here. My son has downs syndrome and still believes in Santa. My son was getting discharged on 12-22. They made sure Santa came to see him before leaving that day. Lisa was great as well. Mike the head nurse shaved him and made him look and feel great. There are too many to thank. They all did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend kindred. This is a place like no other. Thank you much to everyone who took part in caring for my son!!

My brother Michael (Mike) is suffering from a severe case of Pneumonia that evolved into ARDS. Michael has Down’s Syndrome. He has been on a ventilator since September 3 and was transferred from Jefferson NICU to Kindred on Palmetto Street in Philadelphia. Kindred is an AMAZING hospital. All staff in that hospital take part in a culture of “caring” like I have never seen before in any facility. From the security desk Charles and Darrol…through the halls…back to the ICU and the regular hospital rooms. Everyone you meet along the way greets you with a friendly welcoming manner. My brother spent almost a month at Kindred. I or a family member of mine visited every single day that Michael was in Kindred. We all got the same feeling and treatment every time. My brother also got terrific care from everyone who worked with him and sometimes that can be difficult due to his disability as he just doesn’t fully understand what is happening to him with this illness…the ventilator, the tracheotomy, feeding tube…all new to him…These people handled him perfectly. They kept him calm, clean, comfortable and they managed to eliminate his dependence for the ventilator and got him ready for the next step of rehabilitation. We had very positive experiences with the ICU personnel, respiratory therapy and wound care. Some of the names of those that helped Mike are: ICU: Katelyn, Luisa, Cami, Brianna, Angie, Brian and Peggy (Nurse Mgr). RESPIRATORY: Kim and Ann Marie. WOUND CARE: Mike and Kim. CASE WORKER: Rhea was awesome at communicating with me every step of the way during Mike’s stay at a Kindred. I wish I could give a mention to everyone that helped Mike throughout his stay there but there are just too many to list…Everyone that works there is an “angel” to their patients. I feel lucky that my brother actually got this stage of his care at Kindred.

I am so pleased to be asked to write a review.I am so blessed to have such caring caregivers taking care of my sister and other patients here at Kindred Hospital. The best I've seen in a long time. The staff seems to take care of their patients as if they were family. I have to say that Kindred Hospital staff should be listed as number One!!! One of the nurses who has been exceptional is Ms Stacey Pena and also one of the nurses aides Mrs Pat Scott.Actually they all should receive praise and blessings. The facility is SO CLEAN!!! Even the Security Staff is pleasant. Your Patient Relation Representative is without a
doubt simply nonpareil. She met me,and immediately gave me both a high comfort level and a sense of calm.(Her name is Mrs Carmen Colom).

The care the my loved one has received throughout their stay has been exceptional. They truly are a team when it comes to ensuring that patients and families are cared for, medically and emotionally. The level of care begins at the front door with Joe in security, who greets each visitor with a smile and a genuine “How are you doing today?”. Then there’s Lapri in housekeeping, who ensures that the space is clean and will go beyond her duties to get a medical professional to help when you need them. There’s Marie in Nursing Services who advocates for and ensures all patients needs are being addressed, even if those patients are not on her caseload. Also Luisa of nursing services , my families angel, who takes her time in explaining everything and answering any questions we may have. There are so many I could name and each with a different example, Mike in Wound Care, Carmen in Patient Services, Dr. Murray, everyone in Respiratory Therapy, etc.

If you are in search of a place where your loved one will receive the best care in their most vulnerable state, then Kindred Hospital of Philadelphia is who you should trust for that care.

I was in Kindred Hospital , located in Philadelphia. I’m shocked by some of these negative reviews. Over the last three years I’ve spent time in five different facilities. Kindred by far was the best place I’ve been. The entire experience was amazing. Although my issue was not as complicated as others at the facility, I did have a front row seat to watch a roommate get the most amazing care for someone unable to do anything for themselves.
Let me take a moment to recognize some individuals that I had great experiences with, not to take away from the entire staff.
I had the pleasure of having Michael, the chief clinical nurse at the facility for a Morning. To have someone at that level jump in and help out was fantastic. Watching him do his thing, it makes you feel comfortable that the rest of the staff knows their stuff. Standouts for my experience with nurses, Louisa, Maria, Siani, Angi and Michelle took wonderful care of me. When in other facilities the drop off is usually in the CNA‘s, not at this place. Keysha, Nammie, Marie, Sheryl and Danny were all Fantastic! Danny even gave me a little note of encouragement for my healing process, when I left. Wound care department, big shout out to Mike and Lauren. You guys kept it fun. Samantha my case manager, ran around doing anything she could for my special situation. I did some work with the PT/OT department. Caroline was awesome. I didn’t need respiratory very much, but Shirley always came in and checked my oxygen levels. Very nice!

Not everyone’s experience is the same with these types of facilities, but I would recommend anyone to go to this facility. The staff was amazing, the place was always being cleaned and the foods not so bad.

I have received nothing but the best treatment and attention I needed here at Kindred. The nurse supervisor, manager and nurses Are to be commended on their work ethics. Joe and santos from the Physical Therapy team are outstanding. They care about their work and I felt they truly cared to help me walk. All in all I felt I was treated with true dignity while here at Kindred. There are too many names to mention but all folks from wound care, social work, nutrition, dietary, PT/OT and nursing are all great in my eyes.

I want It to be known that I feel that your facility is staffed with incredible people! The doctors, nurses, and support staff are wonderful. Before coming to kindred, I was at another hospital for acute respiratory distress syndrome as a result of surgery. I was ventilator dependent for two months. I don't remember most of my admission but I have some memories that were not pleasant. My family felt the care I received was not the best and we're mase to feel like they were a burden when I asked for something. Upon coming to kindred, I still was on the ventilator and felt mentally foggy, but the nursing staff made me feel safe. They showed me kindness and helped to give me hope. As I improved, the staff would provide me with encouragement and for every step forward I took they praised me and gave accolades! The doctors showed me great concern and worked well together. Not only are they knowledgeable, they were kind and respectful. Each one listened to my concerns and needs. The respiratory therapists are all attentive and supportive. The physical therapy department is also amazing! They helped me to regain my strength and gave me the tools necessary for me to go home and be safe. All the staff at kindred have shown me kindness. They have an upbeat attitude and truly care for the patients.

Initially my thoughts coming here were just to get in and get the heck out of here ASAP. After while I warmed up to the awesome staff and doctors here at Kindred. The nursing staff really have your best interest at heart!! They make sure you are most comfortable and that your stay is enjoyable. Nurses like Marie, Danielle, Sofiya, Marion, Sovy, Louisa, Lisa S., Pat. Physical Therapists like Joanne, Santos and Athena really encouraged me along the way and helped me set realistic goals each week! I have enjoyed my stay here at Kindred and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is on the fence of sending their loved one here. They will absolutely take care of you. My one recommendation would be that they need more of a proper gym/ training room for their patients. Also I want to thank Serena for recommending this facility to my mother and I in the first place!

This is a bit of a long review but absolutely necessary.

I’ve spent a great deal of time at Kindred hospital in Northeast Philadelphia and I’ve met a few certified jewels, and then some 100% incompassionate only there for a paycheck grabbing undesirables, however this particular message is about a well deserved kudos CNA named
Marie Coleman.

When you’re in a hospital or medical facility having medical needs and almost total dependencies of the assistance of others, you definitely need a staff member
like Marie Coleman on board to help you in that facility she’s awesome. I can tell a few situations where she came
through like a champion, but the latest is sufficient.

Without going into my medical history I will share that I was at Kindred hospital for respiratory purposes and one day I was reading my emails in an upright position on an
electric hospital bed with my legs elevated for a temporary position shift and dosed off to sleep, when
I awakened not knowing how long I was asleep, my diaphragm was compressed and I could barely breathe.
To say that I was in a state of panic is an understatement,
I was gasping for breath and getting increasingly distressed so I rang the call bell for my nurse whose name is irrelevant at this time to come in and after a few minutes she came in and immediately knew the circumstance and started pressing the buttons on the bed to put it in the default position. The bed would not move at all and as we were both confused at the sudden malfunctioning bed she
went out to get help, I suppose but never came back in the room. She wasn’t a bad nurse but I’m not sure what happened with her in those moments so I rang the call bell and after a few minutes Marie came into the room, and when she saw the state that I was in she knew that I was there like that for a little while and was not pleased at all. She immediately untrended the bed to its default position clicked one button and the bed opened back up like a Christmas present. My diaphragm decompressed, the air started flowing back into my body and I was more than grateful.

In a situation like that you need competent quick actioned
assistance and Marie was right there with those necessities. I am so glad and grateful that she was there
and I hope that Kindred knows that they have a great staff
member because at that place they definitely need people on staff like Marie Coleman and I’m blessed that she was there when I needed that help.
