Formal Complaint Regarding Unauthorized Repair and Resulting Damage

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the actions taken by BEUD on May 8th 2024 which resulted in significant damage to my personal property and potential safety hazards.

On May 8th my electrician identified an issue involving a bleed-over at the meter and contacted BEUD for assistance. However, contrary to standard procedures and without obtaining my consent, BEUD proceeded to repair a ground rod, which is considered personal property. This action is against BEUD's stated policy of not working on personal property such as breakers or ground rods, as openly admitted by BEUD representatives.

The unauthorized repair led to a catastrophic power surge that caused extensive damage to my appliances and HVAC systems. Additionally, after BEUD initially left, a strong smell of smoke and a loud humming noise prompted me to request their return. Upon their return, BEUD personnel discovered that all city equipment, including the meter and junction box, was not in functional condition.

The series of events and actions taken by BEUD have caused significant inconvenience, financial loss, and potential safety risks to my household. I am requesting the following actions be taken immediately:

1. **Full Investigation**: Conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, including the actions of BEUD personnel and the resulting power surge.
2. **Repairs and Replacements**: Cover the costs for all necessary repairs and replacements for the damaged appliances and HVAC systems.
3. **Policy Review and Training**: Review BEUD's policies and ensure all personnel are adequately trained to follow proper procedures, especially regarding work on personal property.

I expect a prompt response to this matter within 10 business days. Failure to address this complaint satisfactorily will leave me with no choice but to pursue further action, including legal remedies and contacting relevant regulatory bodies.
