Seller had a 1990 Mack Fire truck listed for sale on Firetec website. Had an asking price of $29,900, we offered $24,000. He countered at $26,500, we agreed. Sent bank check, paid to have shipped. He didn't tell us that he was going GUT the truck - he removed light bar, all lights, caps on all discharges, gauges, 2-6" hard suctions, 4kw generator, 14' ladder, 35' 3 section ladder, siren, 2 cross lays, prepiped deck gun with portable base and even took interior dry decking from cabinets. Huh? He never said he was taking ANY of it. When we contacted him, he replied that he had to make up for the 'special price' somehow. What?...a counter offer on a 24 year old used truck and you gut it to accomplish a lower prices?? Huh? We are now going to an attorney.
Really nice chassis, but to strip ALL that so we could get the original asking price down $3400 without telling us????
I have a fleet of 90 vehicles, have bought hundreds in my lifetime - I have NEVER had a seller remove all this without a detailed listing ahead of time to see if that was acceptable. Tell us UPFRONT what you intend to strip exactly - but to send it stripped of what....$10,000 worth of items and we find this out when it shows up? Very sad situation.
