We had a great experience camping here. We arrived late on Friday around 7pm just in time to buy firewood. Then Saturday we were able to get wood til 4pm. The ranger gave us lots of maps and helpful suggestions for where to check out certain trails and for things to do around Black River Falls. There weren't many people camping and we didn't get any bug bites at all, barely saw any mosquitoes despite our campsite having standing water. We brought our own drinking water because we heard it's brown so we didn't bother. The pit toilets are gross but that's usually how it is, the seats and stuff were clean though. And if you want nicer toilets and showers Castle Mound Campground has them but that site was way more full. The location is great to branch out and do things in Black River Falls, up by Lake Arbutus, Levis/Trow and others. You can see tons of stars by the beach near the campground on clear nights.

Beautiful beach, annoying ranger who would scold people for bringing their dogs too close to the water and was very rude about it.

This campground is beautiful! Really close to miles and miles of hiking/biking/cross country trials, right on the lake, really nice sites! Pit toilets and water pumps!

Pulled in late on a Mon evening for a last minute stopover and there was only one other family camped here. It’s rustic (no hookups, no dump station that I saw), but the sites were each secluded in their own little clearing, spaced for privacy. Plenty of room for my 24’ motor home. My site and several others were pull through.

I absolutely love it here! I was here when i was young and dont remember it much, but came here a bunch through the summer and fell in love. Personally I am the rustic type, i love how secluded it is. I love the the lake, and the trail. I am a deer lover, so i love waking up and talking a walk to the lake and end up finding deer tracks. I have seen many animals there, a doe and two fawn in aug. which made my heart jump for joy, a haron, and now that I think about it, I think I had the same encounterment with the doe and 2 fawn only ten yards away. (which i absolutly love!!!) Anyways... enough about me, but I love it and recommend taking your family there. :)

We love camping here, but it's not for everyone. It's very rustic. The water is fine. It's not rust, it's the tannins or whatever that are actually good for you.

Our camp trip there in June was awesome. Was the first time for us to camp in the Black Forest State Forest.
The camp host Travis was the best!

Great campground for tent/popup camping. No electric site. Nice walking trails and small beach for swimming.

Beautiful Park in the fall of the year. Been coming here for 20 + years and lots of great memories of some past bow hunts.
