Sounds like the low ratings depend on the staff you get that day and the day they're having anyway, much like anywhere. A friend went in for oral surgery this week and I was a little concerned reading these reviews and knowing she's on Medicaid (and assuming she won't get the best care). But the care was excellent--room needed a little rehab, sure, but the walkways, layout, etc were all very welcoming to a visitor. The atrium looked gorgeous but I didn't get a chance to walk through. Really nice vibe right out of the gate, though.

Security was very friendly up front, receptionists were all professional... Only hitch was not getting clear directions to where I was going, but I probably wasn't explaining it well, either.

Honestly, the only awful people I saw there were patients/visitors. I walked in, hung a right at security and immediately saw a lady screaming--SCREAMing--at a receptionist about being seen. The lady kept her cool as her partner took the patient over, and a few minutes later security came over. The patient looked nastily at the first receptionist and snarled, "You called security? You are a grown-a** woman, shame on you." The receptionist coolly turned from her visitor and said she didn't call anyone, at which point the visitor literally waved her arms like she's landing a plane and said, "Hello, over here, focus on me. It's being professional." The receptionist was being professional; it never occurred to the screamer that she could be heard from space and no call was necessary. When both those people left and I had the desk to myself, both ladies were calm and treated me as if nothing had happened. God, I can't imagine having to deal with patients and visitors like that all day. These woman deserve a raise.

The operation team was apparently excellent, the nursing staff I interacted with briefly was also excellent--delightfully surprised all around and it was really appreciated b/c this past week has been nothing but stress around this procedure. The only care issue I heard was not picking up some old linens, cleaning up promptly, stuff like that. Sounds like a custodial understaffing issue to me more than a systemic problem.

Brought my husband there in the middle of the night last night due to extreme pain with vomiting in his kidney area. They brought him right back and got him seen within minutes. Diagnosed pretty quickly but we were so impressed with the staff and their care. They were just amazing and made a stressful situation so much better.

I want to send a very warm thank you to the surgical staff at Wilmington. I’m horrible with names so I will focus on how you all made me feel. My intake was smooth and easy and the lady at the front desk was sharp and clear in all I needed to do. I got picked up from the lobby by two nice gentleman. The orienter helped to get my mind at ease with his energy and the orientee was very helpful, nice, and studious. My preop nurse was clear in all she explained to me and asked of me. The RN from the anesthesia team was very thorough in making sure my IV worked. My PA from Ortho as always gives a great synopsis of the next step and opens the door for questions. The anesthesiologist and his team confirmed with me multiple times about which side was being worked on. They worked well together and communicated effectively. I was wheeled down by two nurses I believe who helped to put my mind at ease; them and another guy helped to put me on the table. There was another lady in the room who was gowned and waved and smiled. Their warm smiles were very comforting. Dr. Kupcha gave me that firm reassurance that I will be taken good care of and that’s exactly how I felt. One thing I appreciated the most is how the staff spoke highly of each other and the doctor. That really does give me confidence in the communication of the team. I’m very thankful for my PACU nurse when I woke up, very sweet spirit and responded to my pain promptly. My discharge nurse was so empathetic and very helpful. From her and the lady who helped me into the wheelchair to the smiling last man who pushed me to my car - I wholeheartedly can say I had a great experience from start to finish. My mother felt taken care of as well as a family member; she appreciated the orientee walking her all the way out to the elevator and said he was thorough. I think I got everyone and if I missed someone please know your link in the chain did not go unnoticed.

I was here for surgery. From the moment I walked in until I left, everyone was wonderful. The pre-op, the post-op, and on floor 7- everyone was great (Pape, Dana, Sam, Brooklyn and RuthAnn).

I was admitted here through the emergency room in late August, I was tested right away but did have a long wait. I was however attended to and treated very well. Once I was in my room I was again treated very well. Every person who came in my room was caring from the woman bringing the dinner trays to the people putting in my IVs. Kenneth got an IV in me so fast I never knew it. I had very good care here. All of my nurses were caring and so professional.

I’ve had some pretty scary experiences at Christiana Hospital, and even an unpleasant one at Wilmington Hospital back in 2020 when I had a similar situation happen that landed me in the ED tonight.
However, tonight I experienced one of the most professional, relatable, and just truly amazing Physicians Assistants, I have ever encountered.

Corrine was thoughtful, empathetic, and after giving me a numbing shot so she could examine my lacerations, I had a bit of a shock response. Corrine acted fast and appropriate. She comforted me as I sat there in sheer panic as I sweated to “death”, felt like I was going to vomit, and continued to provide a level of empathizing genuine care.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt valued as a human at any Emergency Department, but tonight I felt nothing but positive vibes by a Physicians Assistant who most obviously is in a line of work she was called to do.

Truly an overall pleasant trip to the ED, even when I wasn’t feeling so pleasant. She’s a keeper!

Lastly, I do have one comment. There are no stretchers in the rooms in the part of the ED I was in. General protocol for a shock response would be to lie the patient supine and elevate their feet to help increase circulation, poor Corrine couldn’t do this and though she never commented about it, I could feel her frustrations. It would truly be a blessing to have stretcher beds in the ED. It’s kinda important for certain emergencies and even in cases where you need to troubleshoot BPPV with the Epley Maneuver.

Just a thought ;)

Today 4/25/23 I went in to have 5 teeth removed. Teeth that were causing issues over a span of 4 years. Dr Barry boyd and his team did a out of this world job. I was informed of every step. If they moved me they informed me of where we were going and so on. Dr boyd told me of every step he was going to do and so on. I really cant be more happy with the care that they gave me today.

Had surgery here. Super huge kudos to the Danyel and the nurses on staff on the 7th floor during recovery. Answered all my questions. Great bedside manner. Incredibly helpful and caring. Made me feel very comfortable.

I'm ONLY giving 5 stars because apparently most of the reviews are for the EMERGENCY room NOT the Dental Clinic!! 🙄 Maybe if people learned to actually PAY ATTENTION things wouldn't be as bad!! 🤣
I've never been treated unfairly at the DENTAL clinic. Yes you may wait for a bit but they get you in!!

This was the best experience ever! The dentists were amazing and patient! The nurse was so kind! The receptionist and all the staff were so helpful! I had a wisdom tooth extracted it turned into dry socket; and they took such great care to help me feel better. I do not believe these posts that state anything less! If you need an extraction go here!!!

I had to have all my teeth extracted and i couldn’t have chosen any other place that treated me with the compassion and respect the way Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital did!!! i was sedated and the process took 45 minutes tops. I’m currently healing and waiting patiently to get my new teeth. Hopefully i can regain my confidence and learn to smile without covering up my mouth. The Staff and Drs there are so professional and caring. Very Satisfied with everything!!! I highly recommend them!!! Thanks Again!!!

It’s officially been a full year since I was admitted to the step-down unit for Covid Pneumonia and quite frankly I owe them everything. The nurses that cared for me helped me in probably the scariest situation I’ve been in in my life. 24, alone, and struggling to breathe even with high flow in the middle of a global pandemic. I was absolutely terrified. Everyone who was a part of my care comforted me and helped me feel as okay as I could be. I’m incredibly grateful for the care I received from my doctors and RT but for real, shout out to the nursing staff in the step down unit. They’re absolutely top-notch. I hope I’m never in the situation where I have to see them again but if I am, I know I’ll be in good hands.

This review is not for the dental team but the 3rd floor group. Would like to say thanks for the great care I received today. Special thanks to Nick, Darla, Alice, the check-in team and the recovery nurses. Dr. F thanks for keeping me anxiety free and setting expectations. Can't forget to mention those who helped out while I slept through their portion of my day. Awesome team work!

They saved my father’s life today. He was choking, and I hollered out for help, and within a second or so, four nurses were there all working on him to get the obstruction dislodged. They are amazing warriors.

In regards to the Administrative assistant at the Wilmington hospital. (Dental)
She was more compassionate, helpful, and assisting than anyone I've spoken to in the Delaware area. After attempting to be seen for months, she finally found a spot for me.

I can't tell you how much this brightened my day, and in effect my life.
Keep hiring people like this!!
