It's a little bit out of the way, but it's worth it for at least one visit. Two of us shared the "Pig Out" meal, which consists of crabs, corn, fries, shrimp, wings, and more. The service was exceptional, and our drink glasses were never near empty before refills were offered. The food did come out at slightly different times, but with a party of 9 people and the variety of food ordered, this is somewhat expected. The only negative is the slight odor of strong cleaning chemicals if you're seated near the restrooms.

Been wanting to try this place for a couple of years. Finally got there and by far, the best crab cake I have ever had. Wish it was open year round.

We arrived between 3:30-4:00 on a Saturday we were seated right away, party of 2. we waited maybe 15 minutes for the food we ordered which were fried crab cakes and fries crab cakes sandwich with fries sweet corn on the cob, and hushpuppies. Everything was excellent Including our server Lexi . It started to get busy about 440pm.

Experience has always been top notch. One of the best crab houses I’ve ever been to. Service and staff have always been excellent and the crabs, hush puppies, and swamp waters exceptional.

So my fiancé and I spent the weekend in Ocean City Maryland, It was a Mother’s Day get away. We were so excited to go eat crabs but was disappointed in every restaurant we ate at, the crabs were horrible. We were heading home back to Nj today and decided to Google best crabs. Boondocks was what we decided and just let me tell y’all the crabs were a nice size, very heavy and hot they were DELICIOUS..The drinks were good as well and the waiter Maddie was also AMAZING! We will return very soon.

Our server Natasha was the best! Not only was her service prompt and impeccable, she was very engaging with my 2 daughters. It's all they talked about on the ride home. How good the food is and how nice our waitress was . I always get the Pig Out which is never a disappointment. Great food and atmosphere! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nice out of the way place in the Dover area. Nice and attentive staff. Medium crabs were good size.

By far the best restaurant in Delaware. And we have been to alot of them.
We pigged out. We ordered mozzarella sticks and loaded crabby fries to start. Then 1 dozen little neck claims, the fisherman's platter and pig out entree, coffee and iced tea and our bill was only $107. I could not believe it. Amazing restaurant. The food was prepared to perfection and the waitress was amazing.

Friends visited us from Maryland on August 31, 2023. We all love steamed crabs but we haven't had them yet this year, so we decided to try Boon Docks Restaurant in Smyrna, Delaware, because of the good reviews, and because it was close to home.

When we arrived, the hostess greeted us with kindness and a friendly smile. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is huge inside, and there was neat stuff to see everywhere you looked, from signs to wooden ducks to boats, etc. All the decor on the walls, ceilings, shelves, etc., was awesome!!! Very nice place for shore...lol!
My husband and I now have a favorite "GO TO" place for steamed crabs!

We started out by ordering steamed shrimp and 3 bowls of "1/2 White 1/2 Red" soup, which is something my husband and I had never heard of before. Our waitress, Michelle A., described it as a combination of one-half red crab soup with one-half cream of crab. Three of us ordered it, and all three said it was DELICIOUS!!! The steamed shrimp were also delicious, and then we ended up with two dozen steamed crabs with extra old bay seasoning. We started with only one dozen, but we all enjoyed them so much that we ordered another dozen. All were devoured in no time!!! They were steamed and seasoned to perfection. They were also full, and the crab meat was so tender that it melted in your mouth. They were the best crabs we had in a long time, so we will definitely be back for more with our families and friends!!!

Now, last but not least, our Waitress, Michelle A., was wonderful, and she was very down to earth as well. I have a hand tremor and am a slow poke at picking crabs. Michelle A. told us about a video she watched about an easier way to get to the lumps of crab meat. She started the crab for me, and we were all fascinated by it, so THANKS, Michelle A., for making my crab picking days so much easier... it worked great!!! My husband bought one of their tee shirts as we were leaving. THANK YOU MICHELLE A., and the rest of the staff for being so nice and for making our first dining experience at the Boon Docks Restaurant a very enjoyable, fun, and memorable one!!!

We had a large group for a surprise birthday party. Service was outstanding, quick and attentive. Food was excellent. Could not have asked for better service. Planning on a return visit. Thank you..

What a fun picnic style atmosphere! The”stained glass” art in the windows were whimsical and an inventive way to shield us from the bright sunlight coming in through the windows. Our server was amazing! She was so attentive. The crabs were sweet and heavy. We’ll definitely come back to this restaurant if ever in town again.

Great restaurant to go and enjoy an afternoon or evening with friends or family. Nice atmosphere the crabs have been wonderful every time I go. The waitress Natasha was friendly and courteous. Looking forward to going back soon.

Stopped here while out riding our Harley, the crab cake platter was amazing! Loved the fries and coleslaw but the crab cake was the star of the plate. Service was great, we will be returning for sure!

This place was awesome. I wish I had more time to stay and eat crabs because they looked incredible. But we were passing thru, and the fried seafood combo was quick and delicious 😋

An excellent waitress can make all the difference when visiting a restaurant and a few weeks ago we were fortunate to have Michelle serving us and taking care of us. She was EXTRAORDINARY! The food and drinks were excellent as you come to expect at Boondocks and made for a fun experience with our guests visiting from California. But Michelle took the experience to a new level -- never weary from our special requests, she was attentive, always positive, and checked on us frequently enough to ensure we always had what we needed. We had visited several establishments over the week with our visiting guests but none provided the level of attention and service that Michelle delivered. We were thrilled with our experience at Boondocks and look forward to returning again soon. We love their swamp water, crabs, hush puppies, crabby fries and more!

The pigout was delicious. It was just enough for two. Plus we had soup ( creamy?) Excellent food.

They were all out of crabs BUT! Definitely drink the swamp water and finish it up with the iconic crabby patty.
