Carving Room NoMa

I hadn’t eaten at the Carving room in quite some time, having moved out of the area, and it was so nice to eat; I actually love there sandwiches but decided to try something new.
One of the owners surprised me with a matzoh ball soup, which was not on the lunch menu, but they knew how much I love it.
I ordered the steak kabob, so I was thinking I would have to take something home, but it was all so good I finished it all!!
When you have this kind of meal made to perfection you will also be hooked on the Carving Room!

The waiters/waitresses kinda seemed like they didn't know what they were doing, but this place fortunately was saved by how fantastic the food is. Best meal I had in DC this year.

Highly recommend the Shakshuka and the Pastrami Ruben!

Great place for a bite to eat. Atmosphere is good, not too loud, seats are comfortable.

Staff is tentative without being over bearing. The shawarma and Ruben were fantastic!

Great place with good food, friendly staff and indoor/outdoor seating. A very nice Cabernet by the glass and the grill was cooked perfectly. Great combination of flavors. The cocktail menu looked wonderful, but I did not partake.

We had lunch there. The fresh pastrami was good, portions were good size. It is on the pricy side. The manger was really nice and helped us out. The waitress was a little flighty. I would go back if I was in the area.

Outstanding service from Nacho and unbelievably “chill” atmosphere like we are regulars. Smoked down the Classic ground brisket and feta & dill cigars but watch the dipping sauce it brings the heat. We split the pastrami poblano sandwich “triple D approved” and it was off the hook flavor. Check this place out!

Great dining experience! We just stumbled across the place and were blown away by the flavors of our meals and drinks! Such care and thought goes into their food, atmosphere, and service. Thank you, we’ll be back during our short trip to D.C.!

Carving Room officially has the best brunch menu item in DC. Their traffic jam seen in the photo below gives you everything you want for Sunday breakfast: cheesy eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and French toast with their signature rasberry sause. It’s also the perfect amount of food: not too much, not too little. We’ll definitely be coming here more regularly for that dish.

Only feedback I have is the cheesy eggs were a tad salty (only a bit) and it would be great if they replaced their see through glass coffee mugs with more traditional pewter ones. Drinking hot coffee out of a glass feels weird to me for some reason.

Other than that, congrats on nailing the perfect brunch dish!!!

The service was great and the food was great only thing I don’t like is they add a 22% tip onto the bill instead of 20% for groups of 6 or more. Other than that everything was good.

The food and drink was on point. Everything was flavorful. I had the lamb flatbread and let me tell it was superb. The wait staff was very friendly hospitable,and attentive even though they had a large party going on. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite.

I love everything about this place!! Happy, fun, easy-going staff. Very strong attention to detail on food presentation. The flavor is spot on for both the atmos and the culinary! A+

The best lamb kabob this side of Riyadh! House made middle eastern pickles. Really good fresh pita! Excellent!

Great place for either drinks or a meal, by yourself or with friends. On a Friday night there wasn't a wait, but it isn't the biggest place so that might not always be the case.

They have an ok happy hour to get you started, but nothing that'll sustain you. It's the usual rail drinks, select wine and beer. They didn't have any food on the happy hour menu, that's always disappointing.

The waitress was really nice, and had lots to suggest for someone who hasn't been there before. The Chicken Schnitzel was honestly one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a while.

Price wise, my part of the bill was $43 and included 2 happy hour drinks, 2 shared small plates, entree, and tip. So the place isn't cheap but it isn't expensive either.

Overall, it was a pleasant surprise for a restaurant in NoMa and I'd go back, no issues.

Really cute place! They have a hibiscus margarita that I had to order twice and their hummus is great. My fiancé and I came for the weekend and made a second stop before we left. We tried the pastrami cuban and the pastrami reuben. Both of them were tasty with a lot of flavor.

Such a good local small business. Pet friendly too! The drinks are so good (bounce the moon if you're dining in or the cucumber jalapeño margarita for take out) and the lemon tahini wings are INCREDIBLE. I normally am not a fan of tahini but it's so yummy with a little spice that's more flavor than heat so it's perfect for every palate. As someone raised by a chef, these flavors are so well balanced so they're worth a try for everyone and very unique so it's not something you can find anywhere else. The sufganiyah is also super good and I love the twist they put on it with the fruit preserves and lemon butter. Definitely worth a trip over to NoMa and make sure to say hi to the owner - she's the sweetest.

You can expect genial staff, high-quality ingredients, and a wallet-friendly happy hour for both food and drinks. Guests should not overlook the tahini wings, hummus, matzah ball soup, shakshuka, pastrami, flatbreads, lamb chops, and brisket burger.

My favorite place for happy-hour margaritas! As Noma’s neighbor, I love this place to go any weekday for a cocktail or a post-work beer. Good vibes, good food and good prices! 🙌🏽

Food was incredible. The poblano Rueben and steak sandwiches blew us away. Small plates were very good too.
