I love coffeeshops and this one might be my new favorite! It was the perfect setting to catch up with a friend and was exactly what we were looking for. It never got too loud and was very clean! The people who work here are the absolute sweetest, the books they've curated in the bookstore are perfect, the food (breakfast burrito) is filling, and the drinks (chai and iced coffee) are great. The prices are reasonable and they have a wide range of books. They have some outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating. The amazing (radical hospitality) that they demonstrate in the community is wonderful and I loved learning about all the impactful work that they do. Potter's House feels like such a staple of the community and I only regret that I don't live closer and can't go all the time. My friend and I kept saying that Potter's reminded us a lot of our favorite Charlottesville coffeshop because it felt so cozy and like it was made to be a gathering place for old friends. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Super cute cafe, great service and drinks. Got the masala chai and it was delicious! Not sure how often they do live music but they had it when I went on a Sunday morning. Definitely will be coming back!

Quirky bookstore with a full menu cafe. Was busy with no tables available on a Sunday afternoon, which is a good sign!
Somewhat limited book selection, but this isn’t your Barnes and Noble. Good coffee and lovely atmosphere

A cafe with books is always my favorite. The breakfast bowl was delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. We went twice and would go the next time I'm in the area.

The chai latte is banging, and their breakfast sandwich hits the spot. Love their mission and how they serve the community, as well. Would rate higher if I could. ❤❤❤

Stopped in here on a long drive. It was very worthwhile, the staff is super friendly. I got the chicken salad sandwich and the tea of the day and it was incredibly good. Lots of good smells. The store has plenty of interesting books to browse and a little community area while you're waiting for your drink and good

I came for the coffee and Mac and cheese. Chill place. The vibe was full of social justice and community. The Batista just came back from a coffee competition and placed 13th in the nation. For a short time he was offering competition grade coffee, a bit pricey but totally it worth it. It was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. That Mac was the last order for the night and totally did not disappoint. It didn't taste like it came out of the box and had a creamy texture. I totally recommend.

This is vegan brekky bowl & sammie. Both yum. The bowl doesn’t have a cheese or bacon substitute so its missing a little umph the carnivorous version prob has.

Wonderful place and people!! Excellent coffee and food. The impressive and diverse selection of books makes it one of the city’s best book shops. Its support to vulnerable community members through its pay it forward system and other means makes a big difference to many. A real gem.

I’m a regular. No indoor seating (excited to add there is now, in fact, indoor seating) but you can bring your dog inside. Mine loves going in for attention and treats. I love going in for an iced vanilla latte. The biscuit and honey with goat cheese is yummy. So is the breakfast sandwich. I also like their scones.

Their mission is great. I feel good supporting local charity. And they have a great selection of books. Recommended.

Came here on a recent Saturday morning for a breakfast with two friends, and we fell in love! The food is low-priced, but packed full of flavor and very filling (and I love to eat a big breakfast, so this was a lovely surprise). I'm always down for a local bookstore, and the selection here is limited but very appealing. Quiet, not overly busy, and they make a great coffee! Super close to many bus lines that run downtown and all around, so pretty easy to get to.

This cafe was amazing! Great atmosphere to just relax and read, or to get work done. The food was delicious, the menu has a variety of options, including vegetarian/vegan dishes. The bookstore had a great selection for all ages as well. I will most definitely go there again when I'm in DC!

Really cool place, I like how they stay open until 9pm. The place always seems packed (that's a good thing) but I always manage to find a free table to sit at. The custom made drink that I order is always well made, the coffee is fantastic. This time I took it a step further and even ordered some food, what an amazing plate of grilled cheese and a salad. Yummy!
