Cafe Milano

Decided to check this place out about a year ago after seeing it on Veep and was not disappointed. I would say the Linguini B. Johnson was perhaps the best non dairy pasta dish I've had and the Tagliatelle Zegna was also very good. We also got a salmon appetizer that doesn't appear to be on the menu anymore, which we thought was pretty good but overpriced for the portion size. Judging by the description of the current menu the current appetizers could be a similar story. I felt like we got our money's worth on the entrees though.

A classic Italian restaurant in Washington DC and perhaps one of the iconic restaurants in George Town.
I have Known this place since the early 2000s and always maintained the excellent quality of food and service.
Love their Veal Milanese the most

We just had one of our best meals in Cafe Milano yesterday! We were greeted by Friendly front desk and helped quickly to our table, our server Gary Pagano did an outstanding job! He is very attentive, caring and always smiling. Food is absolutely delicious and prepared with care, from temperature, to amount of spice and amount. Everything was perfect. Thank you guys!

If I had one word, it would be... obsessed! Was here for a work dinner. This was a fantastic experience. I loved it! Service was impeccable, but not pretentious. I had the branzino, stuffed squash blossoms and the vanilla meringue for dessert.

Miriam greeted me so warmly with her Italian women warmth! I’ll be back just because of her. My meal began with a bread service accompanied by some extra virgin olive oil for dipping. I ordered an insalatina featuring a butter lettuce, lemon vinaigrette, candied walnuts and a mild garganzola. Next, I had a traditional Tagliatelle Zegna topped with a veal, pork & beef ragu bolognese style. “Mama Mia!” I ended the evening with an amazing tiramisu & an espresso. Everything was amazing but my heart was so touched by me sweet Miriam!

During my recent visit to Cafe Milano in Washington, DC, I had the pleasure of indulging in an extraordinary dining experience that left an indelible mark on my memory. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the whole Bronzino, a masterpiece of the sea, presented with impeccable finesse. The freshness of the fish, coupled with its delicate flavors, was a revelation, making each bite a moment to savor.

Crafted with precision and care, each tortellini was a bundle of joy that, upon tasting, compelled my eyes to shut automatically, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the intense, flavorful experience. It's rare to find food that can evoke such a visceral, emotional reaction, but Cafe Milano achieved this with ease, showcasing their unparalleled ability to create dishes that not only please the palate but also touch the soul.

What an amazing Thanksgiving treat it was for me too spend it with my 2 college kids in almost 10 years together and get a reservation at Cafe Milano.
Dinner was fabulous, there’s nothing you will order that won’t disappoint. We enjoyed trying each other meals and each was a delight and ended up overloading our tummies with desert that was icing on the cake on top of our delish meals. My second visit to this fab place and always treated with VIP service.

I really like this place. I like that their menu changes from time to time. The wine list is good and cocktails are well made. The food is solid and there are a few vegetarian options. The staff is friendly and attentive even when it's busy.

Great Food and Service.

On one of the side streets of Georgetown. We were seated in the outdoor tented area so the ambiance left a lot to be desired. The lighting was very strong and stark. The food and the service made up for it, but will insist on an indoor table if there is a next time.

A few memorable dishes we tried are listed below..

- FIORI DI ZUCCA - Ricotta filled squash blossom tempura served with a very subtle eggplant sauce. They literally melted in our mouth.
- CALAMARATA KITON - A mixture of fresh seafood in a red sauce.

We almost always get order for family style eating. Our server was kind enough to divide and serve everyone on their plate. All plates were beautifully plated and served. We ordered from the specials.

Café Milano is still a classic pick for D.C. restaurant-goers. This place has stood the test of time and is definitely recognized for consistent quality and posh environment!
I took my sister here for an early Birthday/ Bridal outing and we had such a Lovely experience! All Staffmembers are helpful and pleasant! Everyone from the friendly Host, the charismatic Bartender, the knowledgeable Server to the accommodating support staff- treated us like we were important. Food was incredible! I loved that each pasta dish offered was named after prestigious Italian Designers like Versace, Cavalli, and Gucci! The dirty martinis were perfectly executed- which is an art in itself! Why has Café Milano has managed to withstand the rampant-changing Restaurant World? It is obvious that Taste and Class never go out of style!

Great service, friends had a train leaving soon and they brought the food in 10-20min.

We came here to celebrate an anniversary and it was amazing! Staff was attentive and friendly. Food was really good! We ordered the large prawn, pappardelle veal ragu and prosciutto pizza. The drinks were also great! We heard a lot of Italian while we were in the restaurant so that is a great sign as well. Definitely would come again!

This is no Olive Garden. That's a gross misrepresentation from some reviewers here. Sure it is pricey but the food was great. We enjoyed it. They went above and beyond with their service.

As soon as walking into the restaurant for a late lunch I was greeted by Marco. Speaking Italian with him confirmed that I was in a genuine Italian “ristorante” and not just another franchise, so, I accepted to be seated. The staff is literally international, which gave me an unique chance to speak also French, Romanian, and listening to Spanish, another delightful surprise that counter-set the mood for a lonely meal. Food was made from scratch and naturally, with very fresh ingredients, something that I immediately recognized since I grew up in Europe. The hand made “grissini” sprinkled with black sesame seeds, are definitely a “home run”. Not lastly, desert was delicious and not sweet - perfect for my choice. Parking is next door which is one less headache of dealing with traffic to hunt for a spot in the street.Judged only by pictures of the fooddoes not do justice to my entire experience here. Service was excellent but not stiff like that of 5-star restaurants. It had a relaxed attitude that reminded me with nostalgia of “la dolce vita” in Italy. Later in the day the restaurant was packed and it became so loud that I couldn’t hear my own thoughts. I still can’t forget that screechy voice and hyena laugh. Next time I’ll bring my ear plugs or better, try my best to avoid rush hour when in town.

Still my favorite place to dine in DC. Incredible staff that treat you like family, delicious food that will never bore you, and an atmosphere that is so fun from date night to a fun night out with friends. Please do yourself a favor and check it out.

When I am DC for business… I always have to dine in at Cafe Milano… is still a classic pick for D.C. restaurant-lovers. I recognized the consistent quality of service! Food was outstanding and incredible! I loved that branzino fish fillet. The waiter, host and hostess made us feel welcomed, the server was so tentative! Very friendly, a place where you have to dressed up not dress down! Looking forward to coming back! Side note! Make reservations at advance notice!

I love everything about this amazing restaurant. My husband and I dine here almost every weekend, and enjoy a fabulous lunch with the best service in town. We are so happy to dine at a place that feels like a getaway!

Great place. Loved the food and service was wonderful. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Great warm place to spend and evening with friends and family!

Food was good, service attentive and quick. It was a nice experience, I wasn't blown away. In my opinion, price per dish didn't match the quality of the food. You're paying for location and name recognition.
