Mott's Market

A great little store with all the essentials – beer, wine, bread, etc., and high-quality brands too. The owners are so nice; when I came in today, they recognized me and insisted that they had accidentally overcharged me a couple of dollars the day before and insisted on refunding it, even though I hadn't noticed! They restored my faith in humanity!

I was staying at an Airbnb literally right across the street in the Capital Hill neighborhood. Though the Airbnb advertised that they had a stocked coffee bar they didn't. Thank goodness for this market. We went in for Keurig cups and was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the small market was. We ended up popping in a few times during our stay. The gentleman that ran it kept to himself, but the lady was super nice and would wave across the street when she saw me out in the mornings. She also helped me with directions to the nearest Metro station. If I lived in this neighborhood I would definitely frequent this market.

Thank god for Motts. They saved me on so many occasions. I love that I can always run a block pick up an onion and be back in time to save dinner. And they are open in the mornings so when I really needed milk and didn’t want to go all the way to the store I can just go to Motts. They have everything! Thank you!

A perfect convienience store for me. Always seems to have the thing I urgently need and have just run out of. This latest time, Lemons! Great service.

It's a great little market with a lot of stuff you need to make it through the night. In an old historic district and probably not much different than it was 100 years ago.

Felt very welcomed, has everything you need for the day including good vines and beer.

I agree this is such a great place it's not 7-11 which is good owner is nice keeps it clean and inviting.

The best place to shop in south east. They're great and they care.

Mott's Market is a clean, neighborhood corner store literally on a corner of row houses. It's run by a family and often well stocked with the basics you need to throw a party, clean up a mess, or make those chocolate chip cookies you're craving. They have water, ginger beer, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, olive oil, sponges, really anything you may need.

The two stand out sections are the ice cream freezer filled with dozens of ice cream options and the wine corner. They have a decent supply of red and white (but mainly red) wines.

My only complaint is the woman at the cash register was not nice at all. I was trying to discreetly take photos and she yelled at me demanding to know why I was taking the photos. I explained my desire to put them on Yelp and she was not impressed. I'd think a neighborhood store would be a little more friendly especially to a neighbor.

Great find near the Capitol Hill AirBnB I was staying in. Complete, if pricey, offerings. Including milk, eggs, cereal, bread, coffee and cosmetics. Run by an asian couple who were friendly. Store is old and narrow, but clean and warm on the cold winter day I was there. Recommended if you don't have a car and need some groceries.

Decent selection of items conveniently located in the area, very helpful owners as well
