Had a pair of curtains that needed shortening quite a bit. I called all around D.C. and was quoted anywhere from $20-$30/each. These are not expensive curtains so I was disappointed, thinking I'd have to spend more on hemming than the curtains were actually worth. I went in and talked to the staff here on a whim as I live in the area, not even know they did tailoring/alterations and was delighted when she said $10/each. Although they do have to be shipped off to do alterations off-site, they were extremely nice throughout the process and when I picked them up in just a few days, they were perfect and pressed and cost me exactly what I was quoted. Wonderful experience. I'll be coming back for more alterations needs as well as dry cleaning.

Best dry cleaning and Alterations in Dc

I‘ve had 3 items tailored and repaired here. One item I needed sooner than the others, but they managed to have all of my items ready, and a day earlier than needed! The woman I spoke with even pressed the item I had repaired for free! 5/5 stars

However, on my next visit to have embellishments on a dress repaired, I spoke to a different, older woman who was very indifferent when she told me their tailor wouldn’t be able to do the work….almost like I was bothering her for coming in and inquiring. It felt like she didn’t care for any business from me... 3/5 stars

For dry cleaning and basic alterations, this place is great and reasonably priced. I guess your experience will vary depending on what time and day you go. But that’s pretty much the case anywhere you go these days.

Well priced but don’t always open on time and the credit card machine doesn’t work regularly.

We went here for several years without issue. However, they lost a dress of mine (my husband picked up the dry cleaning and didn't realize). When I raised this with them, they refused to acknowledge they lost my dress or compensate me - despite the fact that I'd been a loyal client for years. Really unfortunate, and we've found new dry cleaners.

Stopped going here because they never clean their iron. Saw they made changes and tried again. My shirt can back with gobs of starch, ironed in creases, and a torn sleeve. Never again.

I’m not sure what happened to this business. The lady that used to work here on Saturdays was a pleasure and kept me coming here for years. The new lady that’s there on Saturdays is the absolute worst. I went to get an alteration on some work pants as I’m now working back in the office. Somehow, the pants did not finish getting tailored or something, I’m not sure but they were frayed at the bottom of each leg. Still, that did not deter me from coming back with more clothes to dry clean as I’ve been coming here for years. I was not coming to ask for a refund or to fix the alteration for free. I simply came to show that’s how the pants were when I received it. I never assumed any malintention or negligence on their part. I just wanted her to see it to be aware before I dropped off my other clothes. She was so rude, said she did not care if I had been going there for years, and didn’t give me a reason as to why I would make something like that up. It wasn’t just that she refused to believe that an error could have happened but it was how rude she was. Use their service at your own risk!!

This place seems to be under new ownership, which is really unfortunate. The woman who previously worked there was so friendly and pleasant. That’s no longer the case. My husband brought his pants here to get tailored, and they apparently forgot to hem them, giving them back to him with the hem ripped out and unfinished. When he went back to ask them to do it again, even offering to pay for it again, and bringing a load of more dry cleaning that he was going to pay to have cleaned, the woman was incredibly rude, refused to accept any responsibility, and yelled at him. There are numerous dry cleaners in this area - don’t waste your time with this one.

My review is regarding the tailering and repairs not the actual dry-cleaning. I will never use 5D for any repairs again. I wanted some simple patches on two pairs of jeans. First they didn't patch everything I wanted patching, second they charged more than double their original estimate and third, what patching they did was so amateurish it was almost laughable. when I pointed out the missed repairs (for the second time) the store owner was not interested in sending it out a third time unless I wanted to pay more money. I may use 5D again for dry-cleaning but bever for repairs.
