I was thinking about relocating to the District of Columbia, encouraged by all of the black excellence from there that I have see on LinkedIn. I was hoping to apply for assistance to relocate until I landed a career there but if the housing situation is as bad as the reviews say they are maybe I will just stick it out in my city. I’m definitely going to expand my education, better my skills, life & salary and then maybe I will move there. The history I have learned from reading the Emancipation Proclamation history on DC website, is not as celebrated like it should be where I am and I want to be apart of it because I love learning about our history. You guys are so lucky to be living in DC. I live in Tennessee.

Yes I'm set to move soon and I was having difficulty with reaching workers as they are still working remotely.MsClemens work ethic is impeccable and she shows genuine care and concern. She returns phone calls and replies to emails in a timely manner .I just had to give a review for her and I appreciate her and any other colleagues of hers that care as much as she does ! I'm thankful and excited on my move.

I can't believe all the negative ratings given to DCHA. I, not DCHA placed myself in the area that I felt safe, quiet and accommodating; an area that I felt that I could spend a lifetime in. I could've allowed DCHA to place me as they attempted many times, but I took the lead and found my own apartment. I live in an old, historic building, but is very well maintained by management. Since there was nothing in my voucher that stated that I MUST live wherever a housing locator place me, I refused every place they showed me. The housing locator took me to, and showed me a unit so ran down, you could smell the musk and see graffiti in the hallways, plus the owner of that unit was lying in the bedroom, SLEEP! When I pointed this out to the DCHA locator, he quickly ordered me out as we had entered the wrong apartment!! I've since refused any more searching by the DCHA locator, and took the lead to find my own unit. I've been here over six years now, has never seen a roach, or rodent. I can't find one thing to complain about in my unit. If any requests or repairs are needed, management will quickly address my concerns within 24 to 48hrs. I live in an area that is mandated by a written noise ordinance, and everyone in this building had to sign off on the ordinance. There're no stop lights in this subdivision, so I might go a whole day without seeing any cars, and if I see one, I'll never hear one. Had I waited for DCHA locator to find me a unit, I'm certain that I'd be writing a one star complaint too. My housing counselor, without fail, visited me every three months prior to COVID, and maintained phone contact during the pandemic. I realize, a lot of citizens can't be as proactive as myself because of their disabilities. Nonetheless, search via the web, phone, or any way that will suit your needs. I've never contact the president of vice president of DCHA, without first contacting my assigned housing counselor, and following the chain of command. I'm really hope that the review scores will go up, as I'm not going to allow any DCHA employee to lend me a bad day. One block from me is Rock Creek and Potomac Parks, so occasionally seeing animals aren't unusual. I'd much prefer the animals outside than inside. It is my hopes that you find the place that YOU want to live.

Thank you Linda for such courteous customer services this morning. I came in under a lot of stress, just finding out my mother was leaving her rehabilitation facility; NEXT WEEK! I recently exited a domestic violence marriage, leaving behind my home in VA taking just my clothes and dogs. Linda immediately acknowledged my present (of course as I was putting gum into my mouth). Unfortunately no good news but she immediately came up with other options. She even went to the extent of circling a few good options on that list. Thank you Linda, I would love to fly the skies with you. Apply to American Airlines this coming fall as a Flight Attendant. You would be great. Above and Beyond Miss Linda Hunny

When reading the questions/comments from DCHA and Section 8 residents. I know their struggles are real in the District of Columbia. Trying to hold DCHA accountable for their verbal abuse and neglectfully services are troubling facts.

HUD funds DCHA organization using our social security numbers.. No one from HUD cares. The piss poor services has been going on for over 30 years in the District of Columbia, DCHA residents create jobs for DCHA.

Section 8 have some bad homeowners who have embarked on the section 8 program. A public hearing for DCHA and Section 8 residents need to be held at the Wilson building but most of the Council'member's don't care either. They look at us as second rated citizens. When it comes to elections they are asking for DCHA & Section 8 residents vote.

The long term goal for the deteriorating DCHA current properties is for a contractor to build mix use units or DCHA to sell some of DCHA properties.
