We have been coming to Dr Bowman for over 10 years and would not trust any other vet in DC. Her bedside manner with our dog is so calming and gentle, which is perfect for our new puppy. He is still getting used to city living!
We have been to both locations and never had an issue.

Thanks, City Paws and
Dr Bowman!

I am so glad I found CityPaws. Dr. White takes such amazing care of my dog. But that's not only why she's so great - she's personable and takes the time to really explain everything she is doing and why. She's also comprehensive and leaves no stone unturned - she was able to provide me more information about my pup's illness after visiting CityPaws for a second opinion. I always know my dog is in good hands when with her and somehow, even when my pup is sick, she still makes the visit pleasant.

My partner and I are SO incredibly grateful for Dr.Burke. Our poor cat Buddy who is FIV positive has been through so much with his teeth and she has been with us every step of the way. Thank you!!!

I love CityPaws! We brought our dog here after we moved to DC and Dr. Burke has been our go-to for regular and special check ups for our senior dog. They are so kind and prompt with their communication. My dog has anxiety when going to the vet and their staff always works to make him comfortable during exams.

Cannot say enough amazing things about City Paws, its staff, and particularly Dr. Bowman. We have been taking our pets here for 15+ years and have always received the best care. They know pets are cherished family members so will give them excellent care and are also great with providing loving guidance to pet parents. My now senior cat has had various health challenges over the years, and Dr. Bowman has always provided amazing guidance and advice for all of his conditions, especially as he has grown older. They also have provided great care for our new Pomsky. You get what you pay for and these guys are the best of the best.

I had a phenomenal and caring experience here. Dr. Knight was so kind and patient to my dog who I recently adopted. She answered all my questions, gave me all the information I needed and helped create a plan for when my dog should be coming in for check ups and vaccines. This experience really stood out to me because I went to another small vets office in DC recently and although the vet was kind they didn’t let me in the room, they rushed me out and gave me no time for questions. Totally different experience at CityPaws where I was able to sit in the room and really talk with the vet. This will definitely be where I continue to take my dog.

Took us 2 weeks to register our dog for her first visit and wellness check. We had a 9 am appointment and I thought the service was good/polite. Our vet took time to explain her findings to us and course of treatment. Plenty of treats for our girl so we all left happy.

I do not usually write reviews but the outstanding service my dog received today deserves recognition! She got to a small chicken bone outside and although I got most of it out of her mouth, she was acting uncomfortable and like she still had something stuck in the back of her throat. I first called Friendship emergency vet and they said they had a 1-3 hour wait (plus it is a 20 minute drive). I was about to leave but my husband called City Paws and told them the situation. They said bring her right in. I got there abt 10 minutes later and the staff was waiting outside the front door to meet us. They took my dog back immediately for the doctor to examine her, while I gave check-in info as we had never been there before. They called me back to speak to the doctor 5 minutes later. The vet was extremely smart and friendly. Overall the service blew me away. Everyone from start to finish was so nice and made me feel at ease. My dog perked up significantly and was back to her normal self before we left. I was back home in way less than 1 hour from when she even ate the bone. Thank you!!

I’ve been a patient with City Paws for five years, and recently had my small chihuahua Hendrix in for his first teeth cleaning under anesthesia. The tech and reception team and Dr. Burke really put my mind at ease and took excellent care of Hendo. Made a stressful/anxious day a bit more manageable, and always takes great care of folks’ pets.

I came here after my dog had a seizure. They were able to get me in the same morning.

I truly love almost everything about city paws. Most importantly the doctors and veterinary technicians are fabulous both in technical competency and bedside manner with animals. My puppy is now 18 months and I've been taking her there since she was 10 weeks old. A few weeks ago, I was walking my dog and happened to pass the one of her doctors who addressed her by name and got down on the sidewalk and gave her a kiss and hug. For a vet in a busy urban clinic to recognize my dog two months after her last visit just solidified in my mind the fact that they really do care. My dog has seen several of the doctors at CityPaws and I love them all but I strongly recommend Dr White!

During the quarantine, they were fantastic at explaining how the system would work where they would come out and pick up your dog, bring them inside and then call you as they're doing the exam.

They do not do emergency after hours service or complex surgeries here but they work closely with Friendship Animal Hospital and they share files electronically with them for emergencies.

My only minor complaint throughout the last 18 months has been it can be quite difficult to get somebody on the phone to make an appointment or ask a question. The (terrific) front desk people also answer the phones and it always seems so busy that they can't answer the phones and it goes to voicemail; it can take most of the day before they return a call. It would be nice if during busy times they could have somebody in a different room answering calls and making appointments. (It has been easier to get somebody on the phone during the quarantine but if we are ever back to normal I would love to see them add an additional phone receptionist).

I highly recommend CityPaws. Their staff are helpful and professional, and their doctors are compassionate, kind, and knowledgeable. The only negative experience I ever had was having to wait a fairly long time for a nail trim for my cat but it was during COVID and because if a staff shortage so it’s understandable. It’s a quality and well-planned practice that I have complete confidence in. I especially appreciate Courtney up front who is always helpful and efficient.

Dr. Alex takes care of my kitty, Leo. She has been so wonderful. Wellness visits are easy and thorough, and when we had a more serious issue she seriously went above and beyond. She was following up with me outside of office hours, and emailing me late at night to follow up (in her free time when she had to work early the next morning). I definitely felt that she genuinely cared about her patient and me. We will continue going here as long as we live in the DC area. Only great experiences!!

I have been taking my two cats to Dr. Bowman for over 5 years now. Dr. Bowman and her team have been exceptionally helpful and responsive. During a recent emergency visit, she and her team really helped put me at ease. I have never once felt like they were trying to gauge me, like other reviewers have stated. They have always explained the treatments and outlined my options. I will certainly continue taking my cats and future pets to CityPaws as they are exceptional at what they do and wonderfully compassionate people.

My dogs have been patients here since they opened their doors and I can not say enough good things about my experience with City Paws and all of there Doctors and Staff.

I have two dogs. One needs constant care and the other barely needs a check-up annually. City Paws has treated all sorts of aliments for us over the last 7 years. Massive ear infections, cancer, liver infections, knee surgery, teeth cleaning and I have always felt the care I received was attentive on every end. The vet techs are patient and incredibly nice, the front desk staff is friendly and kind, the doctors never rush you (in fact the ones that complain about waiting and appointment delays should probably count themselves lucky to have waited and not been in the room where the vet was- dealing with emergencies, or drying a tear when delivering bad news).

As for cost. I have always found them fair, helpful and honest when it came to all care that was necessary to treat my guys. Just a thought to keep in mind when people issue negative reviews about these costs- having a dog is a responsibility. You have agreed to not only feed, care and pay their bills- you have agreed to owning a dog in a thriving expensive city. Rents are high, there are additional vaccines, etc.

All of the Vets and Staff at City Paws have been exceptional in every way. I can not say enough wonderful things about them.

They're really kind and understanding. My puppy had to be seen every few weeks for digestive issues in the beginning, until we figured out she had a chicken allergy and got her on a special prescription diet. Dr. Powers is incredibly thoughtful and reassuring and the front desk staff are very nice. All veterinary care is pricey, so I recommend getting pet insurance.

We've taken our very anxious and giant dog to City Paws since the week we adopted him and they are the best. We've seen a couple different vets and they all put our nervous boy at ease and they've successfully and quickly treated him for a number of maladies. They're very responsive making sure to get is appointments within an hour or so of calling, and reminding us when he's due for shots or check-ups. And the staff are just as warm and caring as the vets. We're lucky to have such a good vet so close.

CityPaws has always been super helpful and responsive to the care needs for our cat Vincent. From allergies to infections to teeth cleaning, they’ve been able to get him better and everyone is so nice there. Even though I’m no longer nearby I have kept CityPaws as our vet because with COVID it’s been next to impossible to find a new vet. I’m grateful to have them though and don’t mind the extra drive to know Vince will get taken care of!
