City Bikes Adams Morgan

I am new to the city and wasn’t sure where to take my bike. Truth be told, there aren’t many options! I took a chance on City Bikes in Adams Morgan. I received the best service from Jay! The total cost of my repairs was even significantly less than I anticipated paying which was a nice surprise. Double check their hours before heading to the shop. I will continue to recommend City Bikes Adams Morgan and rave about Jay’s service. Thanks guys!

I had an excellent experience with City Bikes Adams Morgan. Chris was was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable - he helped me pick a bike that fit my needs and was sized correctly. The color and size of bike I wasn't in stock at this location but Chris was able to help me through the process of ordering the bike through the store and made it super simple! The bike was put together quickly and picking up the bike was a breeze. Looking forward to coming back to this bike shop (but hopefully not too soon, I don't want a bike tune up just yet!)

Amazing and very knowledgeable staff! This place has been in Adams Morgan for decades and has not varied in quality. I did not get the gentleman’s name who helped me, but he knew exactly what I was looking for and explained to me how to use it on my bike.

The employees here are so generous with their time and expertise. I was trying to repair a flat tire on my bike, but I got stuck with putting the tire bead back on. It took them 2 seconds to fix it, and they didn't charge me. They also didnt get annoyed with me when I came back an hour later with another question! I will be coming back for all my bike needs for sure.

I had issues with both front and rear derailleurs as well as my rear brakes. They fixed everything in a day and did it for less than they originally quoted. Now it shifts and brakes better than when I bought it. Will definitely be goin back!

First off, Arthur, the shop manager gets five stars. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and not pushy at all. I was searching for an affordable (under $1,000), steel touring bike. I visited 5 different shops around town, and this is the only store I found that sold Jamis bikes. Arthur let me take his own personal Jamis Aurora bike for a ride, and I decided to order my own from City Bikes.
When my Aurora bike arrived, there was a slight irregularity with the frame. Rather than ignore the problem and sell me the bike as is (they probably could have gotten away with that), Arthur wrote be a personal email explaining the problem. One week later, I had a new frame and some upgraded Schwalbe Marathon tires with my new bike.
I ended up getting a great steel touring bike for $923. Mission accomplished. Thank you Arthur!
One suggestion I have is that the bike mechanics should try to make eye contact and greet everyone who drops in to have their bike worked on ASAP. When I dropped into the shop, there were two mechanics working and several people waiting awkwardly waiting to be recognized by one of the mechanics. I understand they are focused on the work, but all you have to say is, "Hey! I'll be right with you. :)"

My gears weren’t shifting cleanly and my front tire was wobbly. Biked up on a weekday afternoon figuring I’d have to drop it off for a while and wanted to do so before several days of storms rolled in. Jay helped me and was as pleasant as can be. I was skeptical at first because it seemed the computers weren’t working right and service would be slow, but he quickly overturned that assumption. He sorted out my derailleur issue in a couple of minutes (tops), and explained my front tire problem and talked through what to look out for and a reasonable timeline for me to get it replaced. I fully expected him to charge me, but he just kindly said it was a simple fix, no need. I was in there for about five minutes and he struck me not only as a great person to customers, but a good team player.

I’ve visited City Bikes a couple times before and have always been very satisfied with the service and prices. Highly recommend!

Chris and Carlos were awesome! Small project with taking training wheels of my 5 year old boys bike. Took the time and also educated me on how to start the process of teaching my son riding w/o his training wheels. Thanks again for all your help!

I would also like to highlight the patience and cordiality in the personal treatment, when faced with my difficulty in communicating with the local language (English) unfortunately I still have many difficulties because I speak Portuguese and understand a little English and Spanish, even with my difficulty they attended me very well and without prejudice, I will certainly return to this place for more services. Went here today for what I thought was going to be an expensive replacement of my gears/cables. The tech Esteban was AMAZING. He knew exactly what to do and fixed it super fast and figured I didn’t need expensive replacement at all. Really great experience all around and would definitely recommend! Also appreciate how friendly they.

Stopped in on a lovely Saturday morning for 3 items - other there and arriving for parts and service. Carlos politely greeted each one as they arrived, telling them where they stood in order to be served. He was efficient, informed and friendly. Great experience with City Bikes!

Super friendly, helpful, quick and technically solid. (A nice change from some other bike stores in the area where staff are snobby and aloof.) There is also an urban bike path now that leads directly to their door.

The best efficient customer service in DC when it comes to bike shops. I wanted to fix the loose brakes, other places asked me to leave my bike for the entire week!!!!! With City Bikes, it took 15 minutes. That’s it. Well I was lucky that they weren’t working on other bikes before mine. But still, the experience was efficient and fast. I love it!

I stopped by because my rear derailleur wasn't shifting correctly. Theo diagnosed the problem (frayed cable) and swapped out a new cable in ~15 minutes. He even showed me how he diagnosed it so I can check if something like that ever happens again. I cannot speak for sales, but the repair was quick, friendly, affordable, and well done. It was absolutely fantastic service!

Great to see that this is still a great bike shop. Everyone there rides and you can tell. From the folks in the workshop to the folks in retail, they give great advice, are quite friendly, and make you feel comfortable.

Right now they are practicing social distancing with no contact payments which works well.

Super helpful! They gave my bike a thorough inspection, and were extremely thoughtful about repairing what needed to be repaired for cheap. In particular Theo was an EXTREMELY helpful employee. Polite, courteous, fun to talk to, and enthusiastic about helping. The energy of the building is great and my bike rides like never before. Theo deserves a raise and the bike mechanics do too!

I went in for a flat and ended up asking them for a tune-up since it had been so long since my bike had gotten one. Estaban did a wonderful and detailed job cleaning off the oil & dirt, and I got new brakes, bike wheels, wheel, etc. Looks as new as a bike frame from the 1970s could! It was a quality job that will help me keep using this bike for years to come. They no longer take phone calls, but were very responsive via text message to my initial inquiry and when I could pick the bike up.

Great store and staff! Jay has always gotten me on the road in lightening speed and last week was no exception. Give that man a raise! Only downside is their hours change frequently (this year at least) so check in with their chat ahead of time.

Very friendly and helpful service with quick turnaround. I’ve gotten my bike repaired here twice with great attention to detail and fair pricing.

Esteban was knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk to. I came in after hours and he helped me get everything on my bike squared away in an efficient and timely manner. Really appreciated his help especially when they were scheduled to close.
