Machias River Inn

The room was very cosy and super clean. I usually don't sleep well away from home but the mattress was comfortable and the room was a perfect temperature. We had a beautiful view of the river and a peaceful place to sit outside of our room. The concierge was freindly and helpful, even stayed late to accommodate our late arrival. Very much appreciated the ability to have a clean, safe, and beautiful place to stay on an unplanned but necessary trip down the East coast of Maine in March. Highly recommend and would stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!

The rooms were spacious, clean, well decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the view of the river. The suite they have available is amazing. While we did not stay in that room, we visited with friends there that did.

Great wifi. TV a little tricky to understand, they have directions but it doesn't work as written. Just keep pushing stuff - somehow I got a completely different guide menu than my husband did but I found something to watch.

I stayed in a Hilton on the way here and this place is MUCH better.
I can see how the view would be nice if weather was cooperating.

The staff were so nice! The room was the cleanest room I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed at some very expensive fancy places and they weren't this clean!
The room was absolutely beautiful! We stayed in the apartment (#33) It has a beautiful view of the river from a private balcony. The room was spectacular! Had everything you needed in the kitchen to cook whatever you wanted! It was SO clean! The staff were SO nice! It's in a great location right on the river and you have stores right down the road, and places to eat! I can't wait to go back on vacation and stay here again! Thank you to all the wonderful staff memebers your Inn is beautiful!

Great rooms, newly renovated. Close to lubec. Small town with not that much to do outside of love for outdoors. Yes... no Starbucks.

Was quiet here and theres been lots of effort to ramp up the place and make it more inviting.

There is a river outside the door. The view is why we came. Well that and the sunrise trail.

Huge bed in a nice spacious room. There is a cute little electric fire heater. The shower was amazing. Hot and strong. My only complaint is the shower cannot be contained by the current curtain and made a mess.

Our room was right behind Helens Restaurant.

Rooms and bathrooms appear to be newly renovated. Clean, quiet, cool location on the river with Adirondack chairs outside the rooms to relax in and watch the river. Mattress was comfortable enough. Pet-friendly. Stayed here one night in-between camping trips in the area... the coin-op laundry was super-convenient and the mini fridge had a real freezer to perfect to refreeze my cooler packs. Decent wifi. Friendly staff. Right next to Helen's... a surprisingly upscale diner with amazingly good food.

Booked a room,arrived a little early(45 mins) and the bed had not been made yet. Asked for it to be made for us. The lady at the office immediately upgraded us to a suite. Very nice place and staff. I strongly recommend this place.

I hovered between “great” (4 stars) and “excellent” (5 stars) because from the front, it looks like any motel you might find in America. However, from the inside, I’m pretty sure it’s the most beautiful room I’ve ever been in, and I travel a LOT and have found little to distinguish one hotel from the next, unless I’m looking for “theme” rooms.

Our room at least was very obviously recently renovated and was pristine. Well cleaned with a really, really nice bath (normally I do not use the baths when I travel for hygiene and comfort purposes). I had no reservations about using the facilities in our room, and everything felt very modernised, but with a classically peaceful view that immediately won me over.

I didn’t love the car park full of ATVers which made me nervous upon checkin, but it was a quiet night and with Helen’s right next door with food that was genuinely good (and not something to eat purely out of convenience), it was an obvious winner all around. I rarely repeat hotels when I travel but when I find one I like, I stay fiercely loyal to it, and this is one of those places.

Stayed for two nights. Staff, from the folks who clean the rooms to the front desk, were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well appointed.View of the Machias River from the room and deck is spectacular! Lots of places to sit and enjoy the view in the yard facing the river. Will stay here again.

Had an amazing stay in one of the suites! It was perfect for two couples staying. We had amazing views of the river, and the Downeast Sunrise trail is just across the street. The staff were always pleasant and helpful! The room was clean and spacious! Could not have asked for a better place to stay!

Lovely inn. Enjoyed sitting right outside our room taking in the peaceful setting. Saw a full moon at night and sunrise in the morning. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and made great memories with our kids!

This stay was a wonderful surprise, and it was so relaxing and peaceful! The room was new and spotlessly clean, and the view of the river was beautiful. The back door right to the river was great to have too. Beds and pillows super comfortable. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the apartment and it was very roomy and newly renovated which added a nice touch to our stay. Helen's is in the same parking lot and that was very convenient. Definitely recommend!

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed the place. Nice and clean, beds OK, classy refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.The view from the back doors of the sunrise over the river early in the mornings was spectacular and a great shot for photographers. The staff were helpful. The motel is a one-minute walk to Helen's restaurant where we could get a great lunch or supper, and also a breakfast if we wanted it. This place is not fancy or elegant, but attractive and very clean. We plan to return. (We also liked the sheet that told of local places to see and visit. Jasper Beach was my favorite!)

Beautiful clean rooms and beautiful views will definitely be staying there again

Recently had a two night stay at this quaint little hotel in Machias. The rooms were cozy, the beds/pillows were extremely comfortable, and the views on our 2nd floor deck of the Machias River was extremely relaxing and beautiful. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive to whatever needs we had. A plus, Helen's Restaurant on the grounds was delicious! Try their award winning blueberry pie!

The thermostat is from the 50s or 60s and rocks. The room is nice with a open balcony looking over the water and the bed is really comfortable. Shower wasn't the strongest and poured from the faucet so not much power. Really awesome friendly staff. Loved it.

Perfect location right across from the Sunrise Trail. The room overlooking the river was beautiful with a gorgeous sunrise in morning! Plus Helen's is right there with delicious food. Definitely will be back!
