Absolutely love the downtown (main) library here in GR. the staff is amazing, not least including the ineffable Natalie, head of hr!

can’t think of a bad thing to say about this library. it’s a refuge for so many folks who are unhoused, a resource for education and even entertainment, and the wisdom contained in the millions of pages are a fortress against ignorance.

Honestly, I am in awe of this library and the staff! The staff at the front desk were eager to help get me to my destination. A huge shout out to Allen! Allen helped me find a long lost loved one's obituary. I am forever thankful!

The building is the first feature you will notice. Amazing architecture and moldings. The vintage marble staircases mixed with modern updates make this a beauty to behold. Multiple levels offer a plethora of resources available to residents with a free membership card. Also check out the free classes, digital content, databases, job training, etc. All free online with your card. Comfortable place to hang out and read or study. Parking in the library lot is free for one hour, just make sure you validate using the machine near the front doors.

I love this place. The building is historical and unique, and the library offers so many different types of things to do. I come here at least once a week.

The whole family loves coming here. Great place to learn and have fun during the winter or bad weather. Study anytime👍

One of the largest libraries in GR area, well stocked and with a lot of programs you would not expect at a library.

After living in many states, no other library beats this one.
Especially great for kids. Hosts a variety of events for fun, to be a helpful resource, or to help give a voice to a needed populous.

How can it be anything other than 5 stars? This is an incredible community resource in a beautiful, historical building.

Beautiful HUGE library! So many community resources! I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a quiet place to read and study or somewhere to access the internet!

Was coming from 12 hours away and had to print some tickets for an event we were attending and and brotha Sam went above and beyond to help us

It's a beautiful space. They have a huge selection of fiction, nonfiction, historical materials, and really anything you need. I enjoy regularly checking out books. The staff is also very helpful.

Thank you so much for all that you do! I especially want to thank employees Sam Easter & Atti Betts for assisting me - they were wonderful! I needed some last minute prints for a project, and was having some trouble figuring it out, and they stepped right up and helped me immensely. It’s so great to run across people with such great customer service skills. Keep doing what you’re doing there, it’s much appreciated!!

Great community space and learning opportunities. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, and there are so many great resources to be found. Very inclusive and accepting of all people, and the main branch is pretty wheelchair friendly. And, of course, they have great books.

Grand rapids has an expansive and impressive public library system! The app is easy to use, the branches are conveniently placed around town, the staff are always welcoming and kind, and I appreciate library efforts to get involved in the communities of GR. The main library is beautiful and I could get lost looking at all the books and city records. Thanks GR for providing the public with an excellent library service!

So for my first time at the library I was on my way out with a friend, went to the elevator and hit floor 1, and went to the basement without hitting the LL button and we got stuck in the elevator for like 10 minutes, 5 minutes just me and my buddy then luckily a maintenance man heard me singing " hello, is it me your looking for, I see it in your eyes" then he popped up got in the elevator, so we had to explain what happen and the door shut, then we were really stuck with him, if he didn't get a bar on his phone it could of been a panic issue but his co worker came to the rescue on the outside of the elevator got us out and on our way to the back elevator for the loading dock. Holy cow was a crazy time. Survived a Elevator Crisis. Now I use the steps even though it hurts badly to use them, not chancing lol.. but beautiful place, and such friendly staff that help get you what you need or in the direction you need. Thank you all
