Moorhead Freez

The original DQ in Moorhead gets the spotlight in town for good reason, but the Freez also deserves a mention. This is an old-school, soft-serve ice cream 🍨 spot w/ fast service, outdoor seating, and a gravel parking lot. It's not fancy, but it's fun 'cuz it offers a large variety of sundaes 😋

The BBQs are the best and it's the only ice cream place around where I can get a chocolate dipped cone with nuts. Two thumbs up...worth the stop.

Nice little stop in to Tastee Freez on a beautiful day in Moorhead. We sat outside and enjoyed some ice cream, it was great. Another plus, was there was no line and we had fast, great service. The worker provided the recommendations too us. My husband got the brownie ice cream sundae, which was amazing. Ice cream was great, brownies pieces were soft and delicious and the whipped cream was also good. I got the strawberry shortcake sundae (it was on special for $3.63). It did not disappoint, was also very good ice cream and shortcake on the bottom with lots of strawberry topping. Enjoyable visit and will be back.

This location has been in operation for many years. Prices are reasonable, ice cream is great.

I visited for the first time this week and have been back already a couple times to try different menu items. The onion rings were delicious, burger was juicy, the diet coke actually tasted like diet coke. The ice cream treats are delicious. Definitely getting great value for your dollar. Would go here before all the chain restaurants in the area for quality now that I know better. Brings me back to my burger drive in days.

Friendly and service. The chicken strip basket was great! Good portions. I was quite happy to see they were open.

Seriously the best thing I've discovered yet since moving to the area. Super good prices and very fast service. Sundae and grape slush float hit the spot!

The Freez was great! A lot of people skip over this gem in favor of another ice cream place down the road from here, but this place has other food items to offer besides the obvious. Great tasting ice cream, no long line, good variety of other foods to choose from. You can't go wrong with this place.

This is a very busy place and for good reason. The staff might be young, but are attentive and know how to get you what you need. Best ice cream business in Moorhead.......P.S. I suggest the Boston Shakes.....soooooo yummy with a shake on the bottom and a sundae on top!!

We wanted to try something different than Dairy Queen and this did NOT disappoint! There are tables set up in the grass to sit on which was nice. The prices and serving sizes were reasonable but most importantly, the ice cream was much better tasting. It was creamier with a little less sweetness. I ordered the turtle sundae with carmel and my daughter ordered the generously portioned large cherry dip cone. It was very large and was dripping everywhere before she could finish it but she absolutely loved it. I definitely will return with the whole family.

New name, new landscape, same perfect spot. Moorhead's only going to continue to grow. I hope there will always be a place that seems familiar, here on this corner.

Old school style ice cream shop with good pricing. Take and go or eat on outside benches only. They have a daily $.99 cash and carry special. Every day of the week there is a different cash and carry item, and each week repeats. A person can then figure out which day of the week you like the special and have an inexpensive treat.

Little known location cut off by The detour everybody should support this Mom and Pop local neighborhood icon . Excellent Burger baskets ice cream and milkshakes AKA malts. The youngsters in the service area are always smiling and ready to do their best please support this local neighborhood icon.

Quick friendly service! Excellent hidden gem! Want good food or a tasty treat this is your spot! Burgers, hot dogs, fries, all the nostalgic drive in yummies! Frozen treats, ice creams, dipped cones, slushies, malts and shakes to name a few. Visit this spot and make some memories! Picnic tables to enjoy outside. No indoor seating, walk up only building.

Best soft serve ice cream in town. One of the few places to still get Malts with great malt powder too. And if you miss the banana pie treat from that other ice cream shop, come to tastee freeze and try their banana one....chunks of banana, whip cream and vanilla wafers =YUM! Grill food is fabulous as well.

Great place to experience a sense of community as this is a place where people from the surrounding area gather outside to enjoy a large variety of sweet deserts and fried food. My favorite is the Carmel Apple Sunday. Mmmmmm. One of my favorite places to go and enjoy a moment of comfort. Great job

Don't fight the line at DQ. Come here for better tasting food and some great treats!

I had a great burger and slush the other day. A great Dad and daughter stop after school.
