Exceptional experience with indigenous American cuisine with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options to select in addition to the meat and sea food options.
Food is served fresh with a crunchiness, tinge and fine balance of spices and texture

The desserts were appealing and you should definitely try out their home made ice creams and sorbet.

I would really like to give a shout out to our server Giorgio who ensured we had a great experience at the place.

This was a really nice spot with delicious food! Loved the eggs Benedict, the veggie burger and the fries. Staff was super friendly as well. They have a nice selection of cocktails and a full bar. Would visit again and highly recommend!

Cute small place In jersey city with amazing Vegetarian options Available. I ordered eggs Benedict and a side of bacon. Their brunch cocktails are good and Bloody Mary was spicy. Must try zucchini fries. The service is excellent. Reservations are preferred but we walked in and were lucky to get a table asap.

Burger w green side salad or fries $21 plus tax & tip BUT it was the best burger I’ve had in a long time. Medium-well was perfect too; not burnt but well cooked. Costly but GREAT burger & my server (Dani or Danny) was exceptionally kind & efficient and let me eat in peace. Try it. It’s that good. Very well managed; excellent hostess too.

I've been to the Kitchen Step a few times and every single time has been a wonderful experience. It was actually the first place I ate out again after I was vaccinated and it will forever hold a place in my heart for the consideration they put into their set up at that time. They had individual outside dining set ups with doors, heat lamps, and chandeliers. That kind of attention to detail really made the experience so much better.

Every employee I have met from the wait staff to the hosts to the managers have been so warm, kind, friendly, and helpful. They all elevate the meal because of how wonderful they are.

The food and drinks are obviously outstanding. Two favorites of mine are the biscuits & gravy and the RD burger. They are both full of flavor and delicious. I have a hard time ordering anything else because I just want to order one of those every single time. The crispy zucchini fries are so good that they never last that long on the table because everyone eats them immediately. I've also had a few of their salads and toasts which were all fantastic. You can't go wrong with anything you order. They also have a stable of great drinks but also seasonal ones that are amazing. I had the ecto cooler around Halloween that was bright green with a stay puft marshmallow rim that was so tasty and people around me kept asking what it was and ordering their own.

I highly recommend stopping by, you absolutely won't regret it!

Why anyone would give this place less than five stars is beyond me. The atmosphere is super charming (love the change-of-seasons ceiling and the Nicolas Cage pillow) and doesn't feel cramped despite being fairly narrow. But the highlight here is the food. For brunch my party ordered a variety of offerings and drinks, and everything was fantastic. I'd take their fingerling potatoes over most fries 10 out of 10 times. I live around the corner and look forward to many future meals here.

Update 3/12/2024: Finally got around to trying them for dinner/happy hour and can confidently recommend Kitchen Step any time of day! Tried each of the happy hour bites (shared) and the Norwegian Salmon for dinner. Tried my partner's fries, and they were excellent but the fingerling potatoes are still better.

Took a while to find parking because JC but eventually found street parking a block away.

This is the spot to try! We went on a Saturday morning around noon.

The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful. It feels elevated and fancy but also casual and relaxed. It was well decorated and had accents that showed attention to detail. The outside dining area has fake grass walls that makes you forget you’re in a city and there are cute mirrors and cheeky posters. The staff is patient and friendly. They filled water as needed and paid attention to specific requests.

The mimosa had a good amount of alcohol. The zucchini fries were great to munch on, could barely tell there was a vegetable hidden in there, the dipping sauce was yummy. Could not finish between 2 people, they tasted good after I popped leftovers into my air fryer too. The eggs Benedict with Salmon was perfect, the combination of flavors and textures were excellent. The greens were seasoned and lemon juiced. The pancakes were crunchy on the outside and soft inside, it appears to have been one huge pancake cut into 4 pieces- very filling and could not finish, delicious taste. We were raving about how we wanted to compliment the chef because we were devouring masterpieces.

They remembered the surprise birthday dessert I asked for (options were fried dough balls with nutella, chocolate cake or strawberry shortcake). They brought the the dessert with a candle, and did not make an embarrassing scene. The strawberry shortcake was delicious and elegant.

Overall will highly recommend and would love to come back to share with more friends and to try more of the menu. Already shared my love for this restaurant on my Instagram story- I would want to eat here every week if I lived closer!

Dined at my son's favorite Jersey City restaurant starting with the craveworthy mac & cheese and carmelized carrots. Moving on to the delectable local sea bass and eggplant before finishing with the indulgent Nutella-dipped ricotta zeppolis. Impeccable service led by the warm and knowledgeable Hussein.

This was my second time coming here for a weekend brunch. Although the portions are not large for an adult, the food's very good here. Ordered a Pancake ($17),a french toast ($15) and a zuchini fries ($13). A lemonade and two coffees. The total came out to be $68 w/ the tip for two adults and a child. The brunch cocktail looked great although it will set you back additional $10+ per. I would visit here again.

The Kitchen Step is where you want to be in JC. They have great indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff, and cool armchairs that contribute to an overall amazing atmosphere.

The food is tasty and the menu is very distinctive. The Muscle Frites are the best, very filling and buttery. My favorite apps are the Tuscan wings and the crispy fish tacos.

This place is perfect for ordering in and going out! One of my go-to spots.

Cute spot. Outdoor dining in the fall was great. Incredible food. Best French toast ever, not soggy, not overly sweet. Great Mac and cheese and the French onions just make it so much better. Highly recommend.

I found a gem in JC. I had heard nothing but amazing things about it, and it did not disappoint. Amazing dish with excellent flavor. The staff is excellent, and the indoor environment is pleasant, with some very cool outdoor seats as well.

My review is for the Kitchen Step at Terminal A in Newark Airport - go all the way to the end of the terminal -- it's worth the walk!

I started walking through the terminal to find somewhere to go.
Little did I know how fortunate I was to be leaving out of Gate A17 because that is how I found the Kitchen Step: A neighborhood bistro.

When I stepped up to the hostess, I looked up at the natural looking tree above the bar which felt nice, and she was kind enough to offer me a counter or a table. (I chose table). Then she handed me a real menu (a real menu, not a touch screen in an airport!). It was so refreshing and personal. And there were ample outlets for those of us taking out our laptops.

As I was settling in to how happy I was at this experience so far, up walks a smiling, friendly face in Nabilya my server who could not be more delightful! I told her how happy I was to have a real server in an airport, and she knew just what I meant! We laughed and talked about the new airport and the things she likes about it, too (we are both impressed with TSA Precheck area). She left me to consider the menu ,and when she came back I told her I had settled on ordering the "happy traveler" because I was!

When the food came it was incredibly fresh, the eggs were perfectly prepared over medium, the potatoes were fresh, and seasoned, and the mini pancakes that came with the eggs and bacon were the perfect size. And they even garnished with arugula. Oh the bacon was just ok for me, but still fresh. It looked like a picture. An airport breakfast that came out hot and tasted fresh and delicious, a great and inviting staff and a pleasant atmosphere. If travelling out of Terminal A out of Liberty Airport in Newark, I highly recommend making the trek to the end of the terminal - it is worth the walk!

We had an excellent time at brunch! The cauliflower apple soup was incredible and set the tone for the meal perfectly. The vegan ricotta, apple cider and brunch burrito were the other highlights in a menu with sufficient vegetarian options. Great service, nice ambience, lip-smacking food - can’t wait to come back.

This is my favorite place for brunch! The steak and eggs are really like no other - 10/10. The zucchini fries are amazing, even our 1yr old loves them. The wings are amazing. Honestly, anything you get here will be amazing. The service and staff are all great as well. I go here once a week and I’d probably go twice but they aren’t open during the time I want to go. Also, the atmosphere is super cute.

Great corner brunch eatery with a quirky menu offering. Small and large plates prepared simply but tastefully.

Price is below the Manhattan extortionist movement, but can add up if you’re drinking.

A classy joint without being overdone or overpriced. Recommended.

First time there was today 10/31/21. Impressively packed, waited less than 2 minutes to be seated by the window. Comfortably and cozy. The cheese platter was to die for. Kale salad was surprisingly delicious and my RD Burger medium rare with fresh fries was on point. Completely satisfied and a return visit is a must.
