We hired By Hand Painting to do the painting and staining after we installed about 30 new, all-wood windows in our 100-year-old house, as well as some exterior touch-ups. The owner Adam is a well educated and well traveled gentleman who proved to be dependable, communicative, honest and accommodating. He knows what to look for in his hired help, who were always very polite, clean, and careful (and his daughter even pitched in when she was visiting home from school one week).

Probably the trickiest part of our job was formulating and applying a stain to our newly installed, bare oak windows, because it had to match the unevenly faded stain on the existing sills and moldings around the windows. Adam invested a lot of time and experimentation to get this just right, making use of photogrammetric software and his vendor connections to get the perfect shades. He used similar techniques when touching up old drip marks and caulk lines on the exterior sandstone and brick of the house.

We couldn't be more satisfied with By Hand Painting, and we fully intend to hire them again when we have another project. 5 stars!

So our previous contractor left a mess for us to deal with and we had a 24 hour deadline.

From the time I found Adam online and called him, he arrived on site literally 7 minutes later, and begin painting 6 hours later. Project was done, and wrapped up in time for our deadline and communication was extremely well done.

Adam responded quickly to my rental property roof leak emergency on Christmas Day. The material damage from roof leak into our tenant’s dining room on Christmas Day could have been far worse were it not for By Hand Painting.

Roofers took care of the outside, but the soaked ceiling insulation and sheetrock continued to drip and threatened to collapse on our tenant’s dining table area. By Hand Painting quickly and efficiently took care of all the interior water damage and left everything clean and tidy. We worked with Adam for renovations for our apartment when we were gearing up to sell. He was courteous, professional, and did amazing work!! We found a disgusting mess at a Jersey City property when the sewers backed up, unnoticed for weeks, into the unoccupied ground floor. After Servpro discarded anything/everything potentially contaminated (including the bottom most two feet of almost every wall), and sanitized whatever was left, we called By Hand Painting in.

They didn’t just paint!

Adam and his team installed all new sheetrock, reconfigured a doorway, framed out a new storage cubby in “found space”, patched, primed, and painted everything, leaving no trace of any damage behind. They were not only efficient and skilled, but clear in communication (supplying photo and video updates, as needed). I’d hire again!

I found myself in an unfortunate painting snafu the weekend of New Years Eve due to a failed paint match from Home Depot and called Adam at By Hand Painting in a panic. Despite the late hour, he picked up my call and patiently listened to my scenario and offered to stop by the very next morning on Sunday, which I was so grateful for. Upon coming to assess the scenario, Adam offered several very reasonable options and estimates that factored in my timelines, and he was able to schedule a visit for the following week, making sure to communicate scheduling details and confirmations with me leading up to his visit.

I'm happy to say that my walls are now dry and look immaculate! Adam was very detailed and meticulous in painting around the baseboards and windows in my condo, made sure to clean up any stray paint spots, and even offered to come back if needed for future touch ups. I appreciated as well that he explained his process and answered a number of questions I had for him. Adam saved me from a potentially huge financial loss: two winters ago I got an unexpected phone call telling me that my expensive, custom made front door & sidelights had just been delivered to the house.
