This was a superlative, overnight stay! It started with a warm welcome from Lydia, who is responsible for attending to all the details that made our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The Inn
has modern amenities throughout this beautifully and accurately
renovated 1736 Georgian manor. I loved my spacious room and slept comfortably on a king size bed. The antiques throughout the Inn enhanced the atmosphere. There were three breakfast menus catering to various dietary needs. The food was fresh, cooked well and graciously presented by Lydia. I distributed the descriptive literature to my friends at a birthday luncheon two days later.
I cannot recommend this Inn enough and Lydia gets the credit for that!

Agree with all the rave reviews and just want to add the extras such as extra towels, wonderful toiletries, scrumptious breakfast, home made chocolate chip cookies, complimentary wine, hot chocolate, and
tea in the Great Room, the softest bed sheets, makeup remover face towel, and chocolate truffles on our breakfast plate really brings it up to the next level. The experience of staying in a historical Inn was such a unique experience! Thank you Lydia for making our short stay an unforgettable one!

My sister and I wanted to visit the grounds for sculpture museum and Princeton University. We decided to stay at the Inn for one night. It was our first time staying at a Bed-and-breakfast. It was a wonderful experience!
We were welcomed by Lydia at the door. The house is warm and welcoming, and the room is huge and cozy. Each room has their own large bathroom.
There are several common areas in house that you can explore. There’s a section where you can sit and relax and have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. If you choose to play board games, there’s a room for that as well.
Lydia is very organized and available. The day before you get to choose the time you’d like to have breakfast, and select what you would like to eat from a list of choices.
I chose her homemade quiche, homemade pastry, chicken sausage, coffee, and orange juice. She also makes her own Chocolate truffle.
Her homemade quiche and pastry is absolutely delicious 😋. The truffle is a perfect ending to the meal.

Lydia gave us a personal goodbye by meeting us at the door. She’s a lovely lady.
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay. We look forward to coming back in the future.
Thank you Lydia🙏

Delightful resting place as I was traveling from Cape Cod to outside of Baltimore, MD. The inn was immaculate and since I am a history buff I loved the antiquity of the building and furnishings. The grounds were beautiful and inviting. Very quiet so conducive to a good night's sleep. The breakfast was the best and I so enjoyed meeting and talking with new people. And Lydia was so warm and helpful! I will return.

Lydia was a lifesaver, I didn’t stay here but was stuck in the area with a phone that died and stopped by to see if I could borrow a charger. She was so kind and helped me out far and beyond what I would expect, even offering tea. I was back on the road in no time and extremely grateful for the help!

A lovely old home on beautiful wooded grounds. The room was cozy and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, the yard with lovely spots to sit with coffee, and the barn where you can hang out, all was beautiful and comfortable. Lydia the Innkeeper goes all out to ensure your stay is perfect. It is located close to many attractions and even the Shore is less than an hour away. We can't wait to go back.

I came here for my anniversary during a weekend trip to Princeton. This was such an intimate and pleasant experience. From the moment we walked into the 1700s era house, we felt at home. Freshly baked cookies, complimentary wine, and a note greeted us even though the host wasn’t there. There are lots of rooms to discover and the grounds outside are bucolic. Lydia, the Innkeeper, made a fantastic breakfast from scratch the next morning. This is exactly the kind of experience all Bed and Breakfasts should strive towards. Can’t wait to come back again!

A wonderful, cozy place to hang your hat for a day or two. Ever since I booked a room, I’ve been met with an intentional and personal touch from Lydia, the operator. She’s made sure everything has been smooth for us, and the bread pudding she baked for my wife’s 30th birthday weekend was absolutely incredible. 10/10 recommend for a weekend getaway!

My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at the Inn at Glencairn this last weekend for our 13th wedding anniversary. We choose to stay here due to its proximity to Princeton and wanting to try out a Bed & Breakfast for the first time.

It was a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived. The historic house has been updated without losing any of its original charm. Lydia the Innkeeper & Chef is an extraordinary individual who was attentive, friendly, and a fabulous breakfast connoisseur. The two breakfasts that we were able to have were excellent, complex, and delightful.

We would highly recommend staying here and are looking forward to a return trip.

Could not say more positives about this place. Quiet, quaint, and well-kept, my girlfriend and I had a great stay at Glencairn. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, have been updated in a way that preserves the charm of the old building. We also enjoying chatting with the other guests at breakfast. Will definitely be returning at some point in the future!

Our all-too-short three days at Glencairn Inn

Some of my husband’s comments:
Don’t you love the old door lock and the large key which open it?
Oh, my God, best jams I have ever had!
Look at the floor boards, extra wide pine planks, not of the same width, nails sparingly used over much larger intervals than they use for modern-day mass-produced houses, indicative of large beams supporting them underneath! The carpenters of those bygone days would feel sorry for modern-day carpenters who relies on two-by-eights.
Look at the roof shingles! They are oak shingles!
I slept so well, better than I do at home in Michigan! The hot-water-circulating baseboards are so quiet and there is no draft in the room whatsoever!
Look at the thick beams that support the barn structure. I can imagine how they harvested beams from large trees, but I wonder how did they dry and season them, outside or in a barn?
Oh my God, I love the stone walls!
How nice the mattress is, even though at a timeless place like this, I would’ve been so happy to sleep over a straw-filled mattress! Also, I would’ve been happy to use an outhouse instead of the perfectly modern bathroom.
Gosh, I wish I had more time to spend and read at the living room. I hope that the shelves in it have old novels and Anglo-Saxon stories of its time.

I would like to add:
All three days, I ate more than I should, because the food was so good that I could not possibly leave them as left-overs. The jams, the chocolate truffles, the bread, the harmony of various vegetables, extra-lean red bacon meat, the fruits! Simply put, it was the best three-day stay we have ever had. Lydia was such a wonderful hostess, and her breakfast is a sure proof that she would be a great success as a proprietor of a top-notch restaurant for discerning guests.

My husband and I spent the night at the Inn at Glencairn and absolutely loved it! It was absolutely freezing outside but the Inn was so cozy. Lydia was there to greet us and made sure we had everything we needed. Her breakfasts, especially the homemade jams, we probably the best part of our trip.

Cozy, warm, clean, and exceptionally comfortable-- the Inn at Glencairn truly feels like a home away from home. Lydia was generous, patient, welcoming and truly the consummate host. I cannot imagine a more perfect place to complement your visit to the idyllic Princeton area. Cannot wait to go back for a longer stay.

The Inn is beautiful with such an interesting history! The building and property are gorgeous and really makes you feel like you've travel through time. Sipping on wine in the great room in front of the giant fire place, listening to the rain on the window... what a dream! Lydia is a fantastic cook. The breakfast was phenomenal, I didn't know eggs could be so good! Lydia is also a great resource for things to do in the area, and there is no shortage of food or sights! We will certainly be back.

We stayed at the inn for 2 nights this month and had a wonderful time! The property is gorgeous and well-maintained, and Lydia prepared absolutely amazing breakfasts for us. She also gave us great advice on local attractions and restaurant options for lunch and dinner. We felt completely pampered and look forward to returning again soon!
