Smooth sailing! Cranston RI DMV opens it's doors @08:30. They do not let anyone in early. There were 20+ people in line when I arrived at 08:15. It was a little cold waiting outside in line. Once in, the line moved quickly. I used the checklist each time I came here. Having all the paperwork in order makes it a breeze. In and out by 08:40! Amazing.

It's a lot better than before I love it now they way they set it up. Much faster.

Now that you need to make an appointment, every time I go to the DMV it's a pretty smooth experience 😊

It was quick, best part they were efficient. I called and they were helpful. A couple of appointments opened up for today so I’m relieved that I don’t have to wait 2+ weeks to take care of something that required immediate attention. I’ll make sure the appointment I made 2+ weeks out is canceled. Maybe they’ve taken care of it.
I was in and out in less than 15 mins with new registration.

I would like to write this review and acknowledge Mary at the Cranston DMV. Mary had provided me with EXCELLENT customer service. In all my years of going to this location it was, by far the best customer service experience I’ve had. Let’s just say I sat at booth 24 and did a little bit of crying, talking and most of all laughing. Thank you sincerely Mary for everything you shouldn’t go un noticed⭐⭐⭐

Great friendly service: it was a pleasure. Critique: I was totally confused by the appointment reservation system; in fact, I tried for days to get the wrong type of appointment; happily, the friendly agent helped me get the right one for the same day.

After you get the appointment on line it is much easier (I kept on checking online and 3 pm the day before my appointment I was able to find an appointment), it took me a total of 45 min, very nice and helpful staff.

Protip: print out your application and fill it out it will save you time on the line

Need appointment, which I had. Be sure not to go in prior to 15 minutes before appointment. Check in was fast...and service. Found out Real ID is now effective May 2025...but I got mine anyway...was there with all my ID info needed. They took another picture and kept old license. Will get new Star ID within 3 weeks or less. They give you a paper temporary Real ID license.

I was in and out within less than 40 mins (despite my complicated situation)! Everyone was very helpful and friendly! The person who did my application was very patient and knowledgeable.

I’ve always dreaded going to any DMV, but this particular branch was outstanding!

About a month ago we went to the registry to do a salvage title search. We had an appointment (one of the good results of the pandemic, having to make an appointment). When we arrived, we found the place busy, but not a madhouse. On the third floor we met with a researcher who was wonderful to us. She explained what we had to do and answered our question, and within ten days we had our documents. Sadly, I didn't get her name and I want to thank her. It's good to know that there are state workers who are willing to go the extra mile.

The new online appointment system is a massive improvement. They typically release appointments daily from 8-10am the day of which is great for same day bookings. Next step is doing digital forms for submission. For people with H1B and J1 visa’s it would be great if the automated system would recognize these when going for a license. Every time I go I have to go down for approval downstairs (seems like a tech fix).

Best DMV experience I've ever had! Went in August 2022 for an interstate license transfer. The people working there were efficient, patient and very helpful and processing time was incredibly fast. They now have the option of emailing required paperwork so you don't have to print proof of residence out. Had to reserve an appointment to get in, but the reservation process was simple. I went in around midday on a Thursday and the lines were incredibly short.

First time using new appointment system, was skeptical at first but it works quite well!

On a cold snowy, drizzly day what a delight. I was more than pleasantly surprised. You have to make appointments to get your driving license renewed ( my picture was to old) but that is not the time of your appointment, it just gets you into the building.
After having my appointment verified at the door you go up a floor and wait in line for a "check-in".
That just gives you a number and you sit in a waiting room until your number is called. The wait was about 20 to 25 mins. The waiting room was not packed so you could sit 6 feet away from others. The announciations of serving number 1245 were easily heard and that moved you to an agent who completed all the details of your renewal. I had the agent at booth #12 and she was fabulous....easy to understand, patient as I got my docs out, as she did all the verifications and photos she needed to do.
Then a quick photo, in her booth and a short wait as she finished everything and finis!

I wish all interactions with RI government people were this polite and easy. So 5 star. I walked out with a smile into the snow thinking that was not how I expected the visit to go ...so cudos to everyone at DMV Cranston

Employees are attentive and respectful of customer time.

Great people working there , the service is fast , I only spend 45 minutes inside

The guy who's in the written exam test he's really nice. And I did my driving test in parking lot today the instructor I got he's also nice and the woman who asked for cars light. They help my nervous took away.
