Loved it here, to anyone that left a negative review, you obviously did t do your homework. It's State Land Free Use site, don't expect amenities or easy access. There's vault toilets, that's it. The roads aren't perfect, helps deter campers who want the "campground" experience. If that's you, Google search KOA. If that's not you, you want a quiet and secluded place and you enjoy hiking a little bit to see gorgeous scenic views, then try Flat Oak. And once there, head into Devil's Canyon, google search 5 Pools, and as always, take only photographs, leave only footprints. Happy Camping my friends.

Finally decided to check it out and I can't believe how many times I passed this turn off to the camp! And if that's what you keep doing you too will never see what beauty and positive energy flows thru here! Now I drove past the actual camping area to do a little "path less traveled" exploring and that's where the pictures I took are from. I would say any SUV with good factory clearance can take the road I traveled, however the further you venture I would definitely recommend 4wd, the views are worth it. Protect the Earth, Respect Mother Nature, Take in the Energy, Pack in Pack Out, and Always Tread Lightly! Sad Day if the Foreign Mining Company or any Company takes this away! Stop the Land Robbery!

Nestled in the embrace of nature, Oak Flat Campground is a truly hidden gem. With its well-maintained facilities, spacious camping spots, and perfect blend of tranquility and adventure, it promises a memorable experience. Surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery, you'll find instant peace in this idyllic haven. The real magic lies in the majestic rock formations that adorn the landscape, creating a breathtaking backdrop for your camping adventure. Moreover, the campground holds sacred significance as the grounds where the Apache celebrated women's coming of age, adding a profound cultural touch to your stay. Though limited in amenities, the natural beauty of Oak Flat Campground more than compensates, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and seekers of serenity.

Very nice place. I use to come here a lot as a kid and young man.

To bad Resolution Mining Company could destroy the beauty with their proposed mining techniques. Old timers in mining call it "cave in" mining.

A beautiful experience camping here. Sacred land of the Apache. You can feel the power of this place if you quietly sit and listen. Very clean amazing places for a hike. Please remember to leave no trace. This area is at risk of being destroyed be a foriegn mining company looking for copper. Please Save Oak Flats!

My favorite camping spot. Free, always camping space, always toilet paper in the 2 decently clean toilets, especially the one farther away.

Bring trash bags. Please don't cut up the surrounding oak trees for fire wood as I have witnessed this happening and noticed the lower branches being cut off.

There is plenty of vegetation but due to the recent fire I wouldn't trust the purity of it as flame retardant could have landed on top.

Lots of beautiful life and you can feel the power and sacredness. I sure hope Oak Flat is safe from the destruction of the local mine resolution copper. It would be really depressing if my future generations wouldn't be able to visit.

Situated on the sacred grounds where the Apache celebrated women's coming of age, this is a gem of a campground. Room enough for a 36' fifth wheel. There are restrooms, but no other services. Watch out for flooding at the western end of the site.

Good spot for hiking, with fantastic scenery, however campground is old and is in desperate need of weedwhacking and dead brush removal. A couple vault toilets is all there is.That said we found a nice spot. It was clean with no trash. Lots of wildlife, coyotes, toads, and tarantulas. Quiet at night with good views of stars.

Fun camping spot in the high desert in the oaks. Easy access from the US60 outside of Superior Arizona. Vault toilet and many established camping spots. First come first served. Also has an unofficial overflow to the west in the field/meadow off to the right.
RV, trailers and tiny houses would easily fit.

Awesome camp and can't beat it for the price...too bad they are going to destroy it.

Oh my. Many people are complaining about the mine ruining this campground. They haven't done anything to it yet. It's not their land. If it looks trashy, it's because of the campers and protesters. Personally, I work in mining and this is a mining area, so at some point the resources will be needed and this place will be gone, but that is many years away. Enjoy it while you can and keep it clean! I'm packing up for a trip there tonight. There is going to be a meteor shower and the dark sky should make for some spectacular viewing. Hoping for no clouds.

Have driven by this place for many many years, finally stopped. Wish I had stopped years ago. Sadly it may not be there much longer if the government sells off the mining rights to foreign company.

Had the most relaxing afternoon under the shady oaks. Was easy to find a spot that leveled out the van for good sleeping. Plenty of room to spread out and have a fire in the pit. Explored a bit through the rocky windswept formations. Not much cell signal though.

Absolutely beautiful. I also like that is is not a rigidly organized, paved campground. It's a wonderful place and the government shouldn't sell it to the mining company.
