My tenant called me and let me know that her bathtub was backing up. I get it, I have a duplex that was built in 1956. It has old plumbing. My previous tenant had 3 cats. Yikes. After liquid draino didn't work, I called Dennis over at Universal Electric Services and asked him to refer someone. He referred Platinum. I appreciate the fact that they followed up and were accurate about what time they would be here for my service call. Tony was efficient and courteous while he was here. A little less than 2 hours of snakin' cost me $200. A little expensive, perhaps, but a great experience all around. Platinum comes highly recommended. And they showed up (see photos) in a swanked out turd-truck that was big, new, clean, and ready for any job. Kudos!

This company, apparently operating under more than one name, was contracted to replace all waste lines in a 5 story 60 unit residential building. This was part of the 40Year Review of all large building for building safety. The price for the job, according to the President of the Association was about 1/2 the prices from other bidders!
As I understand it, the workmen began the work to remove all cast iron waste lines. They started on ground level without turning off the water for the entire 5 floors of this stack of apartments. They also did not drain any toilet bowls, nor toilet tanks, nor sinks, nor bathtubs/showers, etc. The ground floor apartment was irreparably flooded and virtually destroyed. Apparently, no attempt was made to mitigate the damage. The Board of the building did not hold the plumbers responsible for this damage!
A few days later, when the second set of 5 apartments began the same process of removing the old waste line, the plumbers did not fully turn off the water, nor drain all plumbing fixtures above. As was reported to me by an eyewitness, someone in an upper apartment, used his/her toilet for usual reasons, and then flushed the toilet. The plumber was hit in the head and face with the results of that toilet visit.
After this second "accident", the plumbers finally learned how to prepare to change waste lines in a multi story residential building.
But, they never took responsibility for a novice plumber's error or stupidity.
I could never recommend this plumber based on this experience. Photos available to prove this story.
