I'm just happy that proper dive bars like this still exist. Great fun, no-frills experience. Has deals you didn't think could exist in DC.

Sure wish they got rid of being able to smoke upstairs, though. It's the 21st century.

Great bar with rooftop vibes - but the rooftop is not an open ceiling but the lighting and height of the ceiling gives that same airy feeling. Dive bar, good for big groups. The downstairs is even good for a date as it’s kind of tight near the window.

Prob the best time I had in DC was at this place, super dive and by dive I mean no disrespect, just a cool place that had a killer playlist and good cheap drinks! Great place whether you go with someone, a group, or solo... you're gonna be there and have fun and meet people... mixed crowded, young and old...

Excellent neighborhood bar perfect for after work drinks or an afternoon or evening catching the game. Roof top bar space more for the party atmosphere while main level bar provides the ideal dive bar feel. Wide on tap beer selection and prices from pabst to eclectic micros of all types. Top shelf mixed also available. Nice food and app choices although we highly recommend the taqueria next door. Wearing a tie or torn jeans, you'll fit in either way

Always quick to respond at the bar. Very nice cider options. I come for a weekly event and it's very accommodating and a nice time to relax. Good deals on food as well if you go for their specials.

Love it here, so glad my friend showed me. Upstairs, downstairs, nice vibe. But i don't think they are paying the heating bill 🥶

Excellent place with a large variety of drinks at shockingly low prices. Fun music and easy access from the metro by way of the CaBi rental system. As northern Green-line residents, we will definitely be returning.

-2 stars on the atmosphere rating because the half-enclosed rooftop area smelled strongly of cigarette smoke (because you're allowed to smoke up there). Bummer!

Cute little pub, even has team trivia on Wednesday nights. Cheap drinks for sure, cheapest in town.

$3 mimosas? Yes please. It used to be that they did cash only, but it looks like they have a card reader now! Highly recommend. Rooftop bar all year long.

Rooftop bar was really cool to experience! Food was great and beer selection was pretty decent.

Cozy vibe, not too busy when we were there. Very lgbtq+ friendly. Cocktails were great, food was good, veggie burger a bit plain.

I mean...they had mead (spicy mango mead!) in a CAN. And it was only $6. Also, they have ridiculously amazing piña coladas.

It’s a bit of a hike, but SO worth it! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, too, so even though it was a Friday night, we could still hear each other talk.

Stopped in just on a whim this past Sat. I have never been hear before but my girl and I decided to walk in for a drink. Needless to say the service was good, we order the tenders and fries..(delicious) best fries 🍟 ever. I don't even like fries but theirs is great. The drinks was nice. It was a different type of vibe. We enjoyed it. Will go againn.

A Petworth / Columbia Heights institution, quickly becoming my favorite local bar. Cheap drinks with their lucky pick beers and can+shot combos. Cool rooftop atmosphere and decent food, its hard to go wrong with this spot

I love everything about this place! The drunk customers, the sweet bartenders. My fav is Steph! She is the best and I met her on a party boat. Cool as a FAN. The food is bar food and good still. No frills and such a nice dive bar. No modernized decor and I can say what I want. No PC culture! Just a Cheers like atmosphere. Amazzzzing

Long wait time for food but it was trivia night and they were SLAMMED. Unfortunately the burger was so hearty and so meaty when the server brought it out, it slipped off of the bun and hit the floor with a satisfying "thap". They replaced the entire basket immediately and took it off of the tab. The service was courteous, friendly, and running around due to the volume of orders which they handled amazingly. Always a good time at the Red Derby!

My favorite bar in the whole USA so far, and I don't say that lightly. What it lacks in decor it makes up for in cheap drinks, awesome staff, and sheer character. For 5 or so years this was the favorite hangout of myself and my college buddies, and to this day I always pay a visit when I'm in town on leave. If you're looking for a fun, relaxing atmosphere and a bar that is unapologetic about what it is, then look no further. Never change Red Derby, I'm dead serious, never change.

Great ambiance, good deals (shout out to Paul Rudd Wednesdays), not to mention a unique variety of drinks (e.g. lychee jelly sake). Also, the rooftop is the only place I know of in DC where you can smoke.

Their new trivia is fun too, especially if you’re sick of TriviaMatic questions and need a change.
