I had called Mike to troubleshoot our external electric receptacles. He was super responsive and helped me over the phone to figure out if it was a tripped breaker (to avoid me spending money on a simple fix). When that didn't help, he was able to come out and identify an issue with load on our main panel. Mike's work was terrific and went on educating me how the electrical system in our home worked. His work was very clean and we are happy that he was able to fix our issues and upgrade our breaker panel to support our electric needs for the future!

Mike was responsive. He returned my call quickly, came over the same day to assess our electrical problem. He is a hard worker, respectful, and fixed the problem quickly! I would recommend Mike for any of your electrical needs!

Wow! What excellent customer service! Within 15 minutes, Mike returned my phone call. Then he showed up the same morning to troubleshoot our electrical problems. Solved the issue promptly with a very reasonable price.

Mike was awesome!! He made the time between jobs to come to my home the day after I called. He was super professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. After he took an initial look at my situation, he realized it would be too large for him to take on in a timely manner given the other jobs he already had lined up. Mike McDonald gave me a good estimate of how long it would take him to fit my job into his schedule. Additionally he had an opening and moved me up the schedule which I very much appreciated! He arrived on time, was very personable, and professional. He only did what was necessary, proficiently done so that it was a great cost savings. He did say that his specialty is troubleshooting, taking care of small projects. Use him and you will be most happy!

My husband and I are elderly and live in a house that is even more elderly than we are. The house was built in 1941 before the war. In 2003, before we moved in, we had a major renovation done which included a new breaker box and some new wiring. In 2013, we added an addition and a second breaker box was connected to the old.
For a while, I’ve been making a list of minor electrical issues that needed to eventually be addressed. They were mostly related to our ceiling fans with lights and the remote controls that weren’t working. The list finally got long enough that we decided we needed to bring in an electrician, but we didn’t know who to call. We frequently pass by McDonald Electric on Washington, so we called on a Friday and Mike came out the following Monday.
In no time at all, Mike took care of everything on my list including the ceiling fans. When he finished, he came and said he was a little concerned about some power readings he was getting from one of the fans in the old part of the house and wanted to look further into that – and what he found was very disturbing. He showed us that on the electrical panel some of the connecting wires were scorched (probably from a power surge) and recommended that the panel be replaced, which of course was fine with us. He came out the very next day and when he replaced the panel, he found that not only were the wires scorched but, on the back side of the panel, there had been some melting.
We are very grateful that Mike went the extra mile to be sure we were safe. It is scary to think how close we might have been to having a fire in our home. We highly recommend McDonald Electric without hesitation and appreciate Mike’s concern about our safety.

Mike did a really good job fixing the electrical issue we had in one of our kitchen outlets. He was upfront with us in explaining the issue and completed the job right away. Had McDonald Electric come out yesterday to troubleshoot an open circuit problem I had. I have an older house with lots of add-ons done by the previous owners, combined with aluminum wiring and an old breaker panel. Mike spent about 4 hours working on my problem, taking apart many receptacles and light fixtures, a ceiling fan, opening an exterior stucco hole cleanly to reveal smashed wiring in a J-box within the wall then re-wiring everything cleanly to free up space, all issues that were contributing to my problem. This was a bear of a problem to troubleshoot but Mike never gave up and did eventually solve all the issues completely, as well as helping me tear down and reassemble everything. I'm going to have McDonald Electric upgrade my old electrical panel also as a last step of future prevention for issues that could happen there. Their service was above and beyond, and the cost was very fair and affordable. I will definitely keep using McDonald Electric for any future electrical needs and I highly recommend them! We live in an older part of town so when our electricity went out figured the weather had caused a power outage in our area (having just had the first snow of the season); however, figured it couldn’t hurt to check the panel. As soon as we opened the back door we could smell an electric fire. We quickly turned everything off & decided we could wait till morning. MacDonald’s website said they opened at 7am so we called first thing. Mike answered right away & fit us in his busy day. When he opened the box it was chaotic. Whoever had worked on it before had been sloppy. Mike walked us through what needed to be done & quoted us a price. Most quotes go up as “unforeseen” issues arise, but Mike honored his word. He cleaned everything up & it’s now a piece of art! It’s important to point out that we used to be in construction, but we’re not electricians so we call the pros when we want to be up to code. THANK YOU Mike for fitting us in & making our home safe & sound!

Mike was absolutely amazing !!! I called him because we had power go out in half of our home and we were frantic and he went out of his way on a day that he had something major going on himself and he came and put in a new breaker box for us and went through and checked everything he could to find the issue , Mike went above and beyond and is genuinely kind and compassionate and I highly recommend him . I was without power in the back of my house as of Saturday night, reached out on Sunday afternoon, and Mike not only contacted me asap to set up a consultation on Monday, he fit me in for a same day repair and made sure I had power restored. Also, he probably saved my life because I had burnt wires inside my breaker box! Before picture is of my fried wires and the other is his beautiful workmanship. He also cleaned the wires up and made them so they are neat and secure. 1,000,000% would recommend and will definitely call upon McDonald Electric for any future needs!

My microwave shorted out last night, I called McDonald’s electric, and Mike was at my house in less than 15 minutes. I had wires that were burnt in my breaker box and Mike repaired everything that morning. It was amazing. Good job Mike.

What started out as what I thought was a complicated burned out kitchen light situation, turned out to be more in depth.
