The Pig Pen BBQ & Spirits

The food was delicious and the beer was cold. The margarita was also well made. We had the brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwiche with waffle fries and fried okra. The brisket and pork were flavorful and the BBQ sauce and toreados were good. Great job on the food...and service!

The one thing that I would change is the volume of the music. It sounded like a club. They were playing 80s dance music verrrry loud (which I love btw). The waitress couldn't hear us when we ordered and we had a hard time hearing each other at our table. A young family came in after us and left after 5 min....maybe tge music.

I was there today and I absolutely love this place. It was our first time there. I was always looking for something like this place and I must say that my husband and I would go all the way to downtown for these type of bar/dine kinda place. The server was great, very attentive and friendly. I the regulars were also greeted like if they were long time friends. This speaks good about this business. Will return and I will recommend to anyone. Food was great and so were the prices.

Was actually really surprised to have enjoyed the food! This place was previously another type of restaurant and it was our first time here, waitress was friendly and fast, food was delicious and very filling. My daughter even enjoyed her food! We ordered different entrees but everything was cooked well and the flavors were there. We got the Buffalo cheese sticks and loaded waffle fries for appetizers, I got the boil with spicy lemon pepper, my husband got the pork rib platter and my brother got the piggyback burger. Everyone was too busy eating we hardly talked to each other! Will be coming back! Also forgot to mention Rick the manager or owner of the location, was great! Super funny and asked us if we needed anything.

First time eating here and I'll be back. The food was delicious and their margaritas...the bomb. The service awesome and made us feel very welcomed.

This place was absolutely AMAZING! had a great first experience here overall. The staff were ALL extremely kind and attentive, with a great atmosphere and lots of regulars (which I will be from now on).

My wife and I had some loaded brisket waffle fries to start, and they were to die for. We didn't even get a chance to snap a pic, they looked so good. The queso they use is clearly homemade and very flavorful, which was a great first sign from the kitchen.

Followed this up with a HUGE burger that I almost couldn't finish after that appetizer! It was cooked perfectly, had a nice coleslaw on it, and a giant pickle spear (an easy way to my heart). For a side, I ordered Mac and Queso, which was honestly just a great Mac with a bit of a kick. 10/10 would order this side again.

My wife ordered the fried shrimp tacos with the really good slaw. Great taste and great portion, but for us, it was missing a a little bit of a chipotle kick. Luckily, our server came through for us and brought out some Sriracha mayo, which was a PERFECT addition and finishing touch to these. If you order these, I'd recommend asking for the same.

Pricing was pretty average. Not gonna get gouged here, but not getting a super steal other. That's fine with me, I'll happily pay for the vibe and the care that the staff clearly put into this place.

Next time I come, I would love to give the wings a try. As far as first impressions go, this place made a great one.

My boyfriend wanted BBQ and The Pig Pen was the first restaurant I came across. The reviews were really good so we decided to try it out. We ended up getting the waffle fry nachos with brisket as our protein. When you go here you NEED to order this dish. The owner, Rick, came over and introduced himself towards the end of our meal. He was very personable and made us feel important (as did the other staff members). We'll definitely be back next time we're out here, to try other menu items. Thank you for the pleasant experience!

Shout out to Rick and the staff at Pig Pen! Their cooking is phenomenal lemme tell ya. I'm so glad I came down here with the fam, it's been a long time coming but we finally tried it out. The staff was so sweet and welcoming. You'll definitely get your money's worth because they hook up your plate and you leave feeling real satisfied. The drinks and music were on point as well. We'll be coming back real soon!

This is the first time coming here and definitely I loved it ,the service the food was the best I'll be back pretty soon...

Customer service, quality food and the spicy bbq sauce is one of the best I’ve ever had.
I ordered the pulled pork, brisket and smoked Turkey with okra and mashed potatoes. All I can say is that my stomach is not big enough to enjoy all the flavors in one sitting.
My Ol’Lady ordered the shrimp and sausage with waffle fries and mac. She said, “It’s so good!” But she also couldn’t eat everything.
We’ll be making this a regular stop.

Great food, great atmosphere, definitely recommend this place. Also have touch tunes juke box, so you can choose your tunes you like to listen to.

We went here on a whim and I gotta say the food is awesome! Between the brisket nachos and bbq grilled shrimp, my taste buds were in heaven! Their bbq sauce is smoky and pairs with the meat so beautifully! The owner was even waiting tables making sure all the patrons were being taken care of. 10/10 will go eat here again!!

This is Horizon’s best kept secret. It’s going in my guest book with a high recommendation. If you are looking for a karaoke kind of Saturday night thing to do, then this is your place. Get there before 7, you won’t find a seat otherwise. All the reviews about Rick are true. He’s not your typical bar manager. Very friendly, and welcoming. He also has a great staff that make you feel welcome and don’t forget to check on you. You have to try their frozen drinks. There is only one place in EP that I’ve ever gone for margaritas and this is my new place. We had the Brisket sandwich, fried okra, waffle fries w/queso, and Mac n cheese. All of it was great. The brisket is awesome with great flavor. Great vibes overall.

We were a large group and the staff went above and beyond to serve us. I had the rib platter and it was good. Has a bar atmosphere. I recommend it.

Being from here since retiring and always looking for some good smoked meat this is the place I highly recommend!!!! Great atmosphere and the food is on point. Rick and Art went out of their way to welcome me and my wife. And offered to let us try some of their food. If you live in Horizon City this is the place you want to eat at!!!

First time here tonight after a long day of watching baseball.
It was awesome! As soon as I walked in, I knew the food and vibe would be great. Everyone had smiles on their faces, and we were greeted immediately by the bartender who kindly told us to sit wherever we want.
Within seconds of sitting down, we received menus, and our drink orders were taken.
For an appetizer, we stuck with the basics an chose the chips and queso. The queso was very creamy and satisfying! In fact, we got two orders of chips.
They have all kinds of stuff on the menu! Burgers, salads, sandwiches, boils, and even a NY strip! Everything is very reasonably priced in my opinion.
I chose the Piggyback, which was a double meat. Jesse burger topped with pulled Bork, BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese. I ordered waffle fries as my side.
IT WAS AMAZING!
Our waitress checked on us at least 7 times and never let our drinks get low. She was awesome.
The owner even walked around and talked with everyone with a big, welcoming smile. I believe his name was Rick.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience there and will be returning soon!

Went here last Tuesday and it was so good we came back the next Friday. Portions are big and prices are reasonable. Always looking for a good BBQ place and this one didn't disappoint. Brisket is tender and moist, okra is freshly made and you've got to try the coleslaw, it's different but tasty.

Honestly this is the best local restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of walking into!
The staff is hands down amazing and so caring of their customers! And the food is even better!! I live on the west side but I will for sure make the drive out here again and again!
So glad my family and I stumbled across this establishment!
