Niemerg's Steakhouse

Niemergs is one of the best hometown diners. Their service is fast and friendly! Their food is delicious! The atmosphere is delightful!! Grew up in Effingham and always one of our favorite places to eat when we come back to visit!

I gave atmosphere 3 stars because I ordered via DoorDash and wasn't physically in the restaurant, but I'm sure the restaurant was nice inside.

I had the mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato tots. I ordered the bourbon sauce. Imma tell ya'll right now that the bourbon sauce IS AMAZING. It went nicely with the burger, but it made the sweet potato tots STRAIGHT UP POP.

To all my trucking brothers and sisters, ya'll gotta try this place, and I hope you like it as much as I did.

Every time I eat here I walk away more than satisfied! Getting the all-you-can-eat salad bar with your meal is such a bargain. We always end up taking most of our entree home, which is great!

The salad bar has more than just salad. They have pasta salads, muffins, puddings, soups, and nachos with cheese.

Two entrees with the salad bar, two pieces of pie, two egg rolls for an appetizer, and one beer cost under $50 before tip. You can't beat that!

We love this place!! The food was great, and our service was AWESOME! Definitely try the egg rolls, they’re amazing!! Oooh and the twice baked potatoes! 🤤😍🙌

Prime rib was like butter cut it with my fork and one of the best I’ve had. I was surprised I liked the salad bar as I’m not a veggie kinda guy but the coleslaw was on point and the broccoli and cauliflower salad was actually great. The soups were good to. Carrie A my server was pleasant and quick on everything. Over all restaurant score 9.99999999999 out of 10!

Great food. Love stopping when traveling through to have dinner and take a couple pies home.

One issue is bathrooms could use more attention. Smelling like pee is not appetizing. What's worse is when an employee went in to check it after I reported it needed looked at she returned saying she didn't know what the issue was. Then looked at me like I was crazy when I said it stunk of pee.

Need some training on bathroom cleanliness.

The food was excellent! The pies to die for! Well definitely be frequently be more often! 😊 The restaurant was very clean, well mane tamed salad bar, the bathrooms where very clean, and overall the best restaurant I have ever been to! 😊😊

A gem of a place! Friendly staff, fantastic food, and fast service. I was in town for a concert, but if I'm ever that way again, I'd definitely dine there again. The desserts are other worldly!

Omg! No complaints about anything 😌 The food was wonderful and plentiful for the price. The place was packed, and food was served by a decent time. Hands down, I will definitely return.

We done here pretty often. They have a big salad bar and always fresh. Their prices are very reasonable and food is southern comfort food to me. My husband likes their steaks and I love the country fried steak with gravy! The staff is very friendly and there is plenty of parking and a big restaurant that can hold big groups. They also sell whole pies and cookies at the counter and they are delicious with lots of meringue!

Excellent selection of food and drinks. Their steak dinners are very good. Also the catfish dinner. We came back the next morning for breakfast. Also very good. Prices are good

Good quality and convenient restaurant just off the interstate with motels adjacent. Perfect stop in for a bite or a coffee on a travel day. Site features a restaurant with salad bar, a breakfast all day cafe, and a cocktail lounge. Friendly and knowledgeable servers are the norm here. Oh and the pie is very good too. The perfect oasis on the long boring drive down I 57

I consider it to be the very best restaurant I have ever been in. The service was fast, they were efficient, the food was so good to eat, it was like flavor exploded on my tongue. I had the pot roast, heavenly. The salad bar ..the freshest I've eaten . The best to me was, the coffee...yes coffee. It was not strong like all the other eating establishment s have gone to, it was mild and tasted like the coffee all restaurant s USED TO USE. Would I recommend this restaurant. DEFINITELY. I will be going there again sometime. I suggest everyone should. Maybe next time I will leave room for a piece of pie.

We had a really good dinner. The steak was cooked perfect. The salad bar was great. The peanut butter pies was very good. Most importantly the Long Island's were the best I've had from coast to coast.

I found two reasons for wanting to live in Effingham. Niemerg's restaurant and Darren Bailey, who frequents the establishment. The food was fantastic! The salad bar had EVERYTHING that I like on a salad. The pies remind me of the old Baker's Square that use to be in Chicago area. (I escaped from Chicago years ago, so I don't know if they still exist.) The desk manager at the Motel 6 told us that Niemerg's was the best place for us to visit. The motel is right behind Niemerg's and on a -6 degree night we were leery, but it was well worth the short walk.

The food was really great ,the service was excellent would highly recommend will eat there again

We looked everywhere trying to find somewhere to have a Thanksgiving dinner. Hundreds of miles from home. We couldn't be home with family. The food was good. We're from the south so it was different but still good. The service was great. Thanks for being our family on this day.

We were traveling and stopped for a quick dinner. Great food, fast service, and very reasonable prices!
And the pie was exceptional!

An excellent family owned,home cooked meals. The prices are excellent the food and service are excellent, be sure to get a piece of Homemade pie! The locals frequent the restaurant, highly recommend! Be sure to ask for Judy she is exceptional!

Food and Salad bar was great especially for the price. Love to go there!😀
