Very good food and drink. The food was delicious and interesting with large portions. Prices were very reasonable making the meal a very good value. Our server was above average and the dining room was updated. I wish I lived here so I could visit more often. It would definitely be a go to place if I lived in Dubuque.

We had an excellent experience at Pepper Sprout! Our food was wonderful and our waitress Fiona was one of the best we’ve ever had! We were a large table of 10. Fiona was excellent and witty and had a fabulous personality! Our table was very loud and obnoxious and she handled everything perfectly! She personally wrapped up our leftovers and made animals with aluminum foil out of them! Extremely creative! All of the staff were friendly and super attentive. Chef Kim even came to the table to chat with us. The Halloumi cheese appetizer was delicious and the Macaroni and Cheese was to die for and it was a huge portion. I had the best Old-Fashioned ever! We will definitely be back!!

Everything was amazing. The staff was so kind. We were never left starving either. The winter dip was amazing with the pretzel bread and the crunchy cheese crust of the dip. The Cesar salad was soft and crunchy. The sauce was garlicky but I LOVE GARLIC. I had the steak with potatoes and it’s the best steak I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. They perfectly cooked it to exactly right and it melts in your mouth. And what I liked was that the food wasn’t hot, it was warm. It wasn’t unbearable, I didn’t have to wait to eat it. It was ready the second it came out. The beef stroganoff was the best I’ve ever had. It was creamy and full of flavor. Fiona was amazing. She made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. She always left me laughing with her jokes and we love her penguin she gave us. Definitely made our night. When we come back it would be because of the food and the service!

To start off I'm am usually a meat and potatoes nothing fancy kind of guy so I was expecting this place to be a little to much for me but I was pleasantly surprised. I got the beef tenderloin and it was wonderful. There was nothing weird was on it, the butter was great (easy to scrap off and use in the potatoes), and reasonable priced. Good job pepper sprout.

Never had just an OK meal here, everything is amazing. Caesar salad and shrimp scallops are excellent. Waiting staff is wonderful!

What a fantastic place to eat! We got there early for our reservation and had one of the apple-flavored old fashion, wow it was so delicious. The bar staff was friendly and full of information about Dubuque, very personal. Then came the superb mussels in wine and onion sauce with delicate homemade rye bread mmmm. Wife had the best tenderloin filled with an incredible flavored butter on a bed of mashed, shivered carrots and pieces of broccoli. I had the stupendous NY strip prepared to perfection on the same bed of potatoes. Last but not least was the fantastic tasting lemon chiffon torte. What an experience, what an event. Best place we have ever eaten. We will return.

Pepper Sprout is my partner's and my go-to dinner spot for special occasions as well as nights we just want to treat ourselves. The chef excels at imagining and then executing delicious comfort food with a twist. Every single course is delightfully flavorful and often incorporates fresh local foods. Our servers have always been attentive and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere offers the perfect backdrop for an intimate date night. If you're a Dubuquer and haven't been, you're missing out! Note: the prices are arguably on the higher end, but the portion size and quality ingredients make every penny worth it.

This place is amazing! I had a reservation for 35 people, and the chef and waiters/waitresses were on point with their service! Food and drink orders came out quick, everyone kept their drinks topped off, and the quality and taste of everything was phenomenal! I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're looking for a nice night out or a great place to hold a friendly gathering.

This place is so good! We found it as we were passing through town and it was the highlight of our entire trip! The food is well prepared, thoughtful and the flavors were beautifully balanced. The service was immaculate (Mariah? A gem) we are already trying to figure out how to drive through Dubuque again for that winter dip haha! Cannot recommend ENOUGH

Nice atmosphere, service was great and the food was amazing! My husband ordered the New York steak that was on special that night and I ordered the Mushroom fettuccine with chicken. The steak was tender and juicy and seasoned very well! And the mushroom sauce was absolutely amazing. This will definitely be a place we will return to whenever we make it back to Dubuque!

It is one of the most romantic places in Dubuque, with a menu that changes seasonally. The Ceaser salad is particularly delicious, especially if you like garlic 😋. My dish was the best quail I've ever had, with a creole cream sauce.

Between my appetizer (artichoke dip- phenomenal) - soup (beef stew - absolutely packed with flavor), and the meatloaf (bacon wrapped, with fresh mozzarella, broccolini, and sour cream mashed potatoes), washed down with a good locally brewed IPA, this was probably the best 50 dollar meal with tip I’ve had in a long time. Plus a nice to go package! Highly recommend this place.

10 out of 10 every time!!! I love coming to this sweet little mom and pop. This is a warm home cooked meal with a modern flair. Great job Kim! And a special shout out to a wonderful bartender Russ!!

Amazing personable service with a smile, food and drinks were impeccable, and atmosphere was delightful. The owner chef even shared a moment with us asking if dinner met our needs. We will definitely make a return visit and highly recommend.

Great service and delicious food! Our server Merrissa was the best! And she made swans for our take out, which I’ve never seen before! Definitely recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed a romantic dinner on a Thursday evening. We had the mussels for an appetizer, the Arctic char and salmon for the main entrée, and a blueberry brownie for dessert. Definitely was our favorite place for dinner. The service and ambience was top notch.

Thoroughly enjoy our dinner, came in as a big group and returned the following evening because of how great the place is! Great cocktails, Gabriel the bartender was spot on. Wonderful menu options, we had the “Man” Candy and Brie as appetizers, enjoyed the shrimp, chicken and steak special in our party. Can’t wait to return on our next trip to the area and Field if Dreams.

I was out-of-my-mind impressed with this restaurant. The home made dressing on the salad was one of the best I’ve ever had and the lamb chops were to die for—cooked to perfection and delicious sauce. The dessert—cashew encrusted gluten-free cheesecake—continued to deliver an above-and-beyond experience. I’d travel 350 miles again just to eat here. With a bottle of wine on the bill we were pleasantly surprised when the check came for what was one of the best fine dining experiences we have ever had.

Ambiance is warm and romantic. The food js wonderful as well. i ordered the New Zealand Lamb chops and wow it was prepared so well and i wish to eat it again. My husband got the steak tenderloin and he loved it too (as you can see he couldnt wait to rip it up haha). Good place to go for dates 🧡. 10/10.

Pepper Sprout is an excellent little independent restaurant in downtown Dubuque. We stopped here for dinner while on a weekend trip from Evanston/Chicago. The service was attentive but not overbearing, the drinks were generously poured, and the food was excellent. It has a nice eclectic menu with some Italian leanings (at least when we visited). We had the peach and tomato bruschetta, a Caesar salad, creamy tomato and dill soup, the short rib ravioli in a short rib au jus sauce with mushrooms, the grilled quail with a peach glaze on wild rice and house made coleslaw (nice textures), and finished with their lemon and blueberry tart. The chef really put together some fantastic flavors in atypical dishes. If you are in Dubuque, Pepper Sprout should definitely be on your list of places to try.
