You can't find a lot of places like this in the "up north" or "up state" areas of Michigan. I can't say enough about the food.
It is delicious, fresh, and the portions are large. Decore is a mixture of woodsy rustic and festive Mexican. The staff works hard and gets straight to the point but is there to help you. This is not Mexican quick service or cafe food. You'll pay more for quality and you'll get what you pay for. There is an extra charge for Chips / Salsa and also using credit cards. This is typical for family restaurants in the area. Cash works best for these small businesses. My family tries something different from the menu every time we are in the area but I always get the Spicy Beef Enchiladas.

Fast & Friendly service, inside was clean & festive , a mix of up north flavor and Mexican mixed in. Food has good flavors and better than average quantity. Arrived quickly and on time. Would recommend and plan on going back again.

Excellent food, fast friendly service! Close to town. No alcohol which is perfect for me. (I don't drink alcohol) which might be why they are not busier. Give them a try! I am definitely coming back, 3rd time this week!

My husband and I were driving south from Gaylord, on 175. When I googled for restaurants in Grayling, MI. We saw the ad for Margarita Grille. When we got there and went in, there was a sign that said, "We don't serve alcohol". This was not an issue for us, since it was 230p, but the web site stated they did and the name implies they would. When I asked the waitress about it, she stated their restaurant in Gaylord did. The name of that restaurant is El Patron.

We were greeted and seated immediately. Waiter asked for our beverage order and if we wanted Chips and Salsa. There is a charge of $1.50 for the chips and salsa, but they were very good and my husband asked at the end if we could have some to take home. We expected to pay for another order, but there was no charge.

My husband had the Buritto Loco and I had the Quesadilla Suprema. The food was excellent and served fast and hot.

The waiter and waitress took turns checking on us throughout our time there.
There is a 3% charge, if you use credit or debit, but many restaurants that we have been to lately, are doing that.

We have a vacation home in Roscommon and will definitely be going back.

Only place to get some Mexican food in town , but it is sure the best Authentic food!!!!
Love the Chimichanga De lacasa , and have tried several different things . The white cheese they put on everything is soooo good. Chips and salsa are fresh !!! Amazing food !!!

The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t just order Steak Street Taco alacarte , only chicken . But Great place to get your fix on Mexican food.

Happened to be traveling through the area with my grandparents when we found this gem.

The person who served us had a great personality, and communicated that there might be a slightly longer wait than usual because they had a new cook starting this morning, so she was training in addition to serving. In my opinion, the wait was no different than any average wait at a restaurant. When the food came out, it looked beautiful, and was absolutely delicious. Despite the entire staff totaling to one server and one cook, they pulled off excellent service and delicious meal. Would definitely stop again the next time We’re in Grayling.

I've only eaten their food once before hand, and that was a takeout that someone else was getting. So coming here for the first time with my grandma and twin, I'd say this is a worthit dinner, it was so good and I recommend eating here. The first thing we got were chips and salsa, usually I'm not a salsa kind of girl but it was so good, the chips were warm and fresh. The rest of the food I won't even begin at, just amazing food, amazing service and everyone was so nice!!

Amazing authentic Mexican food!!! It has become my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time! Quiet atmosphere friendly wait staff food is served in appropriate time and excellent every time! Thank you 😁

Excellent Mexican food! Please come here! Chips were fresh, salsa is excellent. Great service, food was hot, authentic, delicious! Best Mexican around. It's only about 5 minutes from the highway. You should come if you're anywhere near Grayling.

I got a Quesadilla with Chicken shredded and the tacos carne de asada, both were delicious flavors and generous serving size! The salsa had a little kick , but I really loved the hot sauce they came with the carne asada! I love spicy it had a great flavor.
The service was prompt and friendly. They serve you warm chips and salsa upon arrival which are homemade chips with fresh salsa, both delicious! There menu is extensive lots of choices of delicious Mexican cuisine.
The only down side was the fact they don’t have their liquor license yet. All around a very welcome stop in Grayling as we traveled home.

Wow! Great food! Great service. My Fajita nachos were huge! And delicious. The wife had the enchiladas with the Mole sauce. Full rich flavor. The Cheesecake Chimichanga was a lot of fun. We’ll be back!

I got something that I forgot the name of that I would describe as a Mexican stir fry with chicken, beef and shrimp that comes over rice. It has a cheese sauce on it but I got the cheese on the side. So good! My husband got a chicken quesadilla and he really liked his too. The quesadilla was huge.

Very good food. Friendly staff. Good service even though we were during the Friday evening valentine day rush. The shrimp fajita quesadilla was awesome and my wife enjoyed the taco salad.

The food was flavorful and the service was top notch! There were not many there when we went, but the place has an excellent atmosphere. I would absolutely go again!

Recently put together a snow mobile outing with my entire company Green Extraction Technologies,LLC and brought the whole crew here. We were disappointed that there was no alcohol but thats ok because you shouldn't drive a snow mobile and drink!!

Awesome food! We got enchilada verde and chicken tacos and they were both delicious. The chips and salsa were also great. Will be back!

The food and service here are excellent, but it is not a bar. If you want a margarita, don't go to Margarita Grill. In my book they get an extra star for the amusing sign.

If you think taco bell is Mexican food... please go away.

Don't judge this place by the negative reviews. Look at some of their profile pictures versus actual pictures of the food and that should tell you something. Dummies who wouldn't know great Mexican food if it literally bit them in the butt. They probably think nacho fries at taco bell is authentic Mexican or that Mexican chili is tomato based and has kidney beans in it. No. Just no.
It's a shame they're allowed to weigh in... because they don't know what good Mexican food is.

Review:
Let me start by saying WOW, the food is genuinely authentic and incredibly delicious. You'll clean your plate.

The building is admittedly a little "meh", and thus the atmosphere inside follows suit. It's ok... just nothing special and kind of plain jane. But you are there for the food, right? You're not there for "atmosphere"

You will find that the great staff and excellent food are absolutely top notch. Very attentive and fast and friendly 💯

If you've been to El Patron in Gaylord and if you like that place (which you should), you'll be very happy to know it's the exact same menu and recipes because it's the same owners. Even the physical menu is the same. I found out when I started looking at the menu and was like "wait a second... this looks familiar" and asked the lovely waitress (who is a very sweet and friendly person) and confirmed. She is actually familiar with where I used to live in Texas and chatted with me and my wife awhile as we ate. She's such a nice person.

Put it this way, I lived in a Texas border town for over 10 years, and know what Tex Mex and authentic Mexican tastes like. This is IT!!

If you want authentic and tasty, (and aren't suffering from a mental deficiency as some of these reviewers likely are lol) then look no further. You really won't be disappointed!

Recommendations on what to order:
I recommend the la deliciosa, the Burrito El Patron (it's seriously massive!), or the molcajetes (not sure I'm spelling that right?) Which comes in a giant heated stone bowl and tastes just incredible. I find it really hard to steer away from that one, it's a little pricy... but totally delicious and totally worth it. But you will have to be taken out in a wheelbarrow lol.

Also, people complaining about paying for $1.50 for chips and salsa? Come on, how petty can you be? Do you ever think maybe they're throwing more away than are eaten, and they want to be sure you want them without them having to waste money?

Complaining about not having alcohol, another petty argument. How about this? Go get hammered somewhere else. If you're more concerned about getting your drink on than what the food tastes like, you're probably have dead taste buds at this point anyway... lol

Also, side note: if you're one of the morons who voted for Biden, shut your dumb mouth about food prices because you're the reason it's like that now.
