Dunns River Island Cafe Hallandale Beach

Love this place so far. I’ve ordered pick twice and my experience both times were great. I got the jerk pasta which was a bit on the spicy side, but delicious. The flavors stick to your tongue. I also ordered the fry chicken and that gravy (sauce) on the side makes the meal for me. Please support this restaurant. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Good food as usual! We had the jerked salmon and chicken. Waiter was very polite and understanding. Rice was flavourful and well proportioned. Reasonably priced. Good ambiance. Great options for beverages; homemade as well as the usual restaurants beverage menu selections. Timing for food to table could be better but not bad enough to knock them for it. I got my main course after finishing just 1 wing from my appetizer plate. Parking is very limited; like 3 spots that are free and 1 handicapped at the front and about 6 on the side with a parking meter. Good experience overall.

Another location that is well worth the visit! My girlfriend urged me to check out this place as they have happy hour from 6-10 with live entertainment. Definitely will be back!! The tasty, flavorful, the right portions are just right. The presentation of the meals beautiful! Some meals have a slight kick so be prepared for a burst. The Chef Shon who is awesome did a curry seafood pasta with mussels, conch and shrimp for me without the heavy cream as I couldn't have the cream!!! In addition, we had ackee cups, lamb, lobster shrimp and salmon combo, doubles, mango salad and they have a 2 for one, all delicious!!!

So I’m already obsessed with this Jamaican Reaturant. I literally came yesterday with my husband and then back today and brought some friends with me. The food is AMAZING and freshly cooked to order. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it came inside a pineapple. So cute! The staff is very friendly and attentive. And the environment is very homey. This is hands down one of my newest favorite Jamaican spots! I’ll be back!

My parents happened to stumble onto this restaurant and can’t express how grateful I am that they did. This restaurant was so good and so nostalgic. From the drinks of Jamrock Punch that were packed with a kick to codfish fritter appetizers to their ackee and salt fish cups. The chicken soup had the right amount of spice kick so you can continue to order more drinks. Ordered coconut grilled shrimp with peppers, omg delicious too! My main course was Dunn’s River Island Fried Chicken, rice & peas and cabbage with plantain. Super nostalgic in flavor . The oxtail was also ordered as I had a piece and will most likely order that to go next time. Lol the atmosphere was right with music playing and the bar is fully set up and stocked. I am so anxious to return and can’t wait !!

So excited about this restaurant. It makes me proud. The food was delicious. The presentation was like any 5-star restaurant. The service was also very pleasing. We all left feeling satisfied with our choices. The oxtail pasta was unique and unlike anything we've had but it was a great dish. We love how they were able to take traditional Jamaican dishes to the next level. Thanks so much. My curry lobster Tail was very flavorful and tender. Love love loved it all. Will definitely be back.

My sons and I were very well taken care of here. The staff is very attentive and the food was delicious. I also love the food's presentation. I had our meal delivered and then the following day I decided to dine in. I recommend it.

I got the Dunn's Seafood pasta dish. Now I'm from Maine and pretty picky when it comes to my seafood and I have to say It was amazing. The portion size left me with enough to take a snack home for later. If I get laid over in Miami again I will definitely be back.

The uniquely Jamaican flavors served here that I love so much are the best in Hallandale. Lots of choices at reasonable prices. I would happily challenge anyone to show me another Jamaican restaurant in town with this level of consistent quality Jamaican flavor. Ask for Aaliyah!

What a pleasant surprise a Jamaican restaurant with an upscale ambience. The food is the best around I go as far as to say the best in South Florida. No to mention the attention to detail and presentation. I have been in search of a Jamaican restaurant of this caliber and I am here to say bar none way ahead of the rest. The bar is set by Dunns River Island Cafe. So if you are in search of a place to enjoy a sumptuous and mouth watering dining experience look no further. Go and check it out for yourself and then spread the word. The only thing that it's lacking is adequate parking but there is parking available across the street in the adjacent plaza. So I would highly recommend this place. The staff are very friendly and attentive don't just take my word for it go see for yourself

Jerk chicken pasta was to die for! Absolutely delicious however my husband ordered a shrimp appetizer and it came with the eyeballs and head still attached. It was a treat for him that I allowed him to eat seafood in front of me, it really grosses me out, I will NOT let him eat seafood in front of me again for this reason! On the other hand the jerk chicken pasta was one of the best things I have ever eaten and the presentation was beautiful 😍

The food was authentically amazing and delicious. They didn't have my first choice (ran out) so I will definitely return. And I want to hear the band.
UPDATE 2023:
Had the privilege of joining family here for a surprise birthday dinner. The hostess/waitress/bartender was amazing!!! We all ordered different dishes and we were amazed as each dish came out, lamb chops, salmon, fish, soup, chicken (curry, jerk, parmigian wings) fish fritters. KUDOS to the Chef, the platting was FANTABULOUS!!! Our meals were DELICIOUS and BEYOND. Everything, yes Everything was good. You know the food is good when the talking stops. My sister has already said, I need to pickup her lunch next week, lol. We'll be back for dinner soon, very soon.
Hard to post others food when they've enjoying it. The taste brings you back to Jamaica. Go and dine in or take out, you won't regret it.

lord have mercy this place is unreal !!! i got the lobster Mac and cheese , the peas and rice and the carrot mango juice and i almost passed away the food was so damn good .
BEST MAC AND CHEESE i’ve ever had , best juice , and amazing service . Found the best new spot 😍😍😍 tysm to the chefs in the back , whose hands are blessed in the kitchen ! That food was made with LOVE ❤

Fantastic lunch special! Jerk chicken (Yum!) & curried chicken (perfectly spiced), rice & peas with fresh lettace salads. Added a freshly made jerk JAM patty to our lunch...so good!

The food and vibes are always good. The service is even better. Had a mishap with my order, I told Dave/David and they fixed it with no issue!
