Excellent! Great fried chicken sandwiches w a variety of toppings and sides. Friendly ppl. Pretty spot to relax outside.

This was honestly the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. It was sublime.
It did not fall apart while being eaten, the chicken was thick but tender, and it was so delicious. The flavor is amazing.
I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Easily the best chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten. They are so good that I usually get two!
One for dinner, another for the next day.... but I usually end up eating both and hurting my stomach.
They're just that good!

Original Review: This unassuming food truck in a food trailer park has turned into one of my favorite spots... Las Abuelas!
I got:
〰 De Lujo sandwich: crispy pollo, chipotle mayo, pickled cabbage slaw, avocado, cotija, & roasted Serrano crema.
〰 Bandera Tots: Tots, Chipotle mayo, cotija, jalapeño crema, tajín
〰 Camote Fries: Sweet potato fries, Mexican coke glaze, chipotle mayo, cotija, & toasted pumpkin seeds

Austin is full of hidden gems and Las Abuelas is one of them. It is located amongst a smattering of other food trucks so it is easy to overlook. Maybe when you go down to Valentina's and are presented with a two hour wait you'll decide you want to go elsewhere -- and let me suggest Las Abuelas, which is located about a dozen steps away. But, to be honest, it's worth making the trek down south just for it. Fried chicken sandwich Valhalla with a little Tex-Mex twist. The brunch fried chicken sandwich with MEXICAN COKE GLAZED BACON might be the best fried chicken sandwich in Austin right now. Don't sleep on the refreshing hibiscus limeade either.

I have been going to Las Abuelas every other week for about a year now and every single time, it has been delicious. My personal favorites are the H-Town and the Bandera Tots. Matt & the Las Abuelas crew are the GOATs. He has the best chicken sandwiches this far south of the Colorado river, by a mile. I appreciate the effort and passion he brings to his food and I’m proud to be a supporter of Las Abuelas.

Easily one of the best if not the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Amazing combination of ingredients and the chicken breast was cooked so perfectly crispy. The Bandera tots were so delicious as well!

I combined the spicy chicken with the breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely AMAZING. It was the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had no joke. Add the avocado it’s worth it. And the guy who runs it couldn’t be nicer. Highly recommend.

Everything was delicious! I even liked the pickled cabbage and i don't like vegetables lol If you're a chipotle spice lover you will love this place. The staff is also very nice and welcoming.

Came here because the line at Valentina’s was too long but omg what a absolute delight! Hot crispy but super juicy chicken in a bun and what a kick in the espicy sauce! Highly highly recommend!

Great place to add a Mexican twist on a delicious chicken sandwhich. Make sure and add the Bandera tots. When asked what was most popular, the owner suggested the Espicy chicken sandwhich. It had a great balance of kick and could easily put competitors to shame. The owner also suggested adding cheese and guacamole to the Espicy so I took the suggestion and was not disappointed.

The sandwiches at "Las Abuelas" are a taste of nostalgia, reminiscent of homemade creations from grandma's kitchen. Fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations set them apart, and the cozy ambiance makes it feel like a home away from home.

This food truck is parked basically behind Valentinas on Manchaca. There's three of them in a row...and this particular truck is delicious!
So glad that my son and I stopped by it today! I had seen pictures of Instagram depicting the chicken sandwiches and couldn't stay away.

I ordered the espicy and added avocado. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. He melds all of the spices in really well where it isn't overbearinly hot but has a good kick. The slaw on top was a welcome crunch and relief from the spiciness...and the added avocado was perfect. The bread was also perfect for the type of sandwich that he's making!

My son got the el martín because he really wanted to try the coke glazed bacon. It was yummy and sweet. Not for someone who doesn't like sweet and savory together. He inhaled the whole sandwich and was already trying to figure out what he was getting next time we came.

We also shared an order of tots and it was way more food than we needed. Will for sure be back and will continue to tell everyone how delicious it was!

I’ve eaten here quite a few times as it’s close by my house, and I’m a sucker for a chicken sandwich.

For real. This place is incredible. Go, go often, bring your friends… the consistency is out of this world, the spicy is the exact same perfectness every single time. The tots are phenomenal as well. The only thing bad about this food truck is the fact it doesn’t have a line all the way around the station next door. For as good, and consistent, as they are they should be on every “best in Austin” list that’s put out.

WOW, what a great chicken sandwich. I had the Espicy and my wife had the De Lujo and both were fantastic. Can't say enough great things about these chicken sandwiches

Absolutely delicious! We had the Espicy, the El Martin (only available Saturdays & Sundays), the tots, the fries, and 2 Hibiscus Limeades. Everything was served hot with fresh ingredients. The Hibiscus Limeade is handmade! The area is very clean and well kept and a joy to sit and eat in nice weather. We really enjoyed it.

We ordered the espicy and the el Martin sandwiches. Both were very good. That said, the espicy was better than "good". It was amazing. The spicy Chipotle mayo and pickled slaw hit all the right notes for us. Highly recommended.

The guy that operated the food truck was nice to deal with. Service was pretty quick.

The sandwiches are not the same price as a Popeyes or a Chick-fil-A, but this isn't in the same category as those places.

Oh lawd - will you be my abuela? This is my Southside chicken craving spot. Up there with the tumble22s but much easier and cheaper. Going to be my secret weapon to show off until it blows up!
