El Meson is one of the best authentic mexican food restaurants i have ever been to. From the buffet for breakfast to the Mole Verde for dinner and the La Bruja for drinks, El Meson always surprises on how good it actually is. The quality of food and the service make it such an enjoyable place to eat. 10/10 always recommend

Great Mexican food! Went here for the guacamole as I read good reviews. The guac was good but I really enjoyed the tacos. The French toast was on point. I appreciate using croissants rather than regular white toast.

Excellent flavors, relaxing atmosphere. The salsas and guac were very fresh and well-balanced. Beans and rice were simple and fantastic. Thick Mexican chips were outta sight. Enchiladas were simple, clean, and deliciously flavored. Margaritas were also very well balance with tequila-lime-sweet. Everything was very clean and pure tasting. So glad we discovered this place because El Naranjo was closed - we’re looking forward to going back!

Had a great lunch here, ordered the fajitas and they didn’t disappoint (although would have like some peppers, they only served sizzling onions). The frozen margaritas were delicious but strong

We love to come here for the brunch buffet on Sundays. Food is delicious and very good presentation. Authentic Mexican food. Price is around $30 per head

A South Lamar staple that should never go away. Real. Authentic. Mexican. Cuisine. None of that Tex Mex stuff here. Family owned and delicious

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I have been a fan since my first trip (and trying the mole sauce!) The margaritas are the real deal-fresh squeezed juice and a solid tequila selection. The staff is friendly and helpful, and willing to help you build your own margarita or Mexican martini. The food rivals Fonda san Miguel but at a price that doesn't set you back a paycheck. Seriously, check this place out.

Went for Sunday brunch and the food was so authentic, tasty, and fresh! The dessert table also was perfect!

Great place for authentic Mexican food. Clean. Friendly staff. If you enjoy wine definitely try the wines from Mexico. Salsa are delicious! This was our first time here but we will definitely come back to try our items on the menu.

OMG brunch buffet and great drinks. Service is awesome. This is the real deal! I’m shocked that no line for this amazing brunch game. It’s 28pp including tip added automatically. The food is so fresh. Families run. Going for dinner tonight.

Had an excellent dinner: the chile en nogada brought me right back to Mexico. Service was good, margaritas were just right, and all the dishes were delicious. We will definitely go back.

This place is so much better than the average Tex-Mex I’ve eaten since I’ve been in ATX! It’s an authentic sleeper little remnant of SOLA of days past.

Sunday Brunch is a treat that will make you feel like you’re in Mexico at the hotel breakfast. Fresh papaya and other fruits, elote, fresh made tortilla chips and guacamole that lived up to the “best in..” award. The lady refilling the tamale dish showed me that most of the buffet was vegetarian friendly when I told her I didn’t eat meat. She even made the extra effort to bring over a potato patty fresh from the kitchen when they were ready.

I will say I was a bit surprised that my bill was $27 without alcohol so the value I assumed from the charmingly authentic atmosphere was stretched a bit. One of the other reviews noted posting the prices might do well for managing expectations better. Food was fabulous however.

This place will still be my new go-to for eating local!

Mesón was great! We decided to stop and let traffic die down and had some of the best Mexican food we've had recently. The Mexican martini was pretty damn good too

The Sunday brunch was terrific. The food was fresh and very well displayed with the chef/owner tending to everything constantly. Staff is attentive and efficient. Owner is delightful and engaging. Highly recommend and definitely don't miss the mole dishes and flan!

Having been raised on Mexican food and having eaten Mexican food in various Texas/New Mexico/California cities, I can honestly say if you want the true flavor of the interior of Mexico = El Maison is the place. The Sunday brunch-buffet seduces with an incredible array of creative vegetarian/non-vegetarian dishes. Nice dessert table. Child-friendly ambiance, but wasn't loud when our group was there. Staff was helpful in translating the Spanish-language dishes, if necessary. Recommended!

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the region. Excellent and friendly service. Food is fresh, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The tacos are absolutely delicious. The ambiance is great and not loud at all.

The brunch is the best Central Mexican breakfast food I’ve had outside of Guadalajara. Varied, fantastic, and authentic. Also, the staff here couldn’t be more friendly.
