I used to buy permits and park here as a UNM student. Recently, I parked at the lot on gold and Buena Vista while representing my company at a recruiting event at UNM. The cost of parking for a day is $4. I didn't have any ones, so I slipped a $5 bill into the slot and pressed it all the way in with their little metal tool to make sure it wasn't stuck. I returned several hours later to a boot on my car and some unnecessary little hateful nasty grams taped all over my windows that read "expired permit." I also had a citation for $20. I think that someone may have been confused by the old permit sticker on my windshield from back in my student days. I called the company to let them know what happened. An inarticulate fellow on the phone gave me a long winded run around about how it's impossible that they could have made a mistake and so I still have to pay a bunch of ridiculous fees. He did offer to reduce the fee for the violation that I didn't commit and seemed very pleased with himself for doing so. Realizing that it wouldn't be worth my time to argue with tweedle dee over $45, I paid and waited 45 min for tweedle dum to come remove the boot. I found out later from a city attorney that it is illegal for this private company to issue citations. Park it place, you should expect to be contacted by the PRC soon. I parked here for years as a student. I'll never make that mistake again and I hope anyone reading this won't either.
