Ramkota Hotel

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH! I was in Pierre for 3 weeks for work. I spent my first nine days in the Holiday Inn, which seems to be one of the better hotels here. However they had a couple of days that were fully booked, so I had to find a different hotel.

At first I was turned off from the Ramkota because the review ratings were so low, which I do not understand why. After giving it a chance, I wish I had came here the whole entire stay. I believe this hotel is much better than the Holiday Inn. It's not perfect, it does need some work on its wallpaper and some of the ceiling texture. The decor is a little dated, but it appears to me that when it was built or last remodeled, that it was built solid and with a lot of thought. Unlike the Holiday Inn which looked like it had decor from the 80s. I paid $20 extra a day from the regular room and upgraded to a suite. That room was huge. It had a wet bar, a couch and a chair, and a big open entrance. The hotel was clean, the staff for the most part was friendly. It had a nice pool area and a large hot tub that I used almost everyday. It's across the street from a park that lines the river, which was good for me because I like to run in the morning. If I was ever in Pierre again, which likely will never happen since it was kind of a one-off, but if I were, I would definitely return to this hotel.

The only real negative I can think of is that the breakfast was like Groundhog's Day. They had the same thing every day. A couple of pastries and bread, a poor choice of yogurt, eggs, pork sausage, and potatoes. The coffee was relatively weak. I will say the Holiday Inn did have a better breakfast IMO.. For me neither were that good because I tend to eat healthy and don't like a lot of sugar or white carbs. This is standard hotel breakfast, so what can one expect.

We had such a great experience. Older hotel, but very clean and well-maintained. Friendly staff and the restaurant food was amazing. We will be back on our next trip through town.

Very impressed! I can’t understand why this doesn’t have higher reviews! Clean, Comfortable, Great Customer Service! Had a poolside room for me and my husband, two little ones, and our pup. Convenient parking right outside the entry door, huge lawn to exercise the pup, a pack-n-play for the little one. Beautiful common areas by the lobby and in and around the pool area. Kiddie pool, hot tub, large pool goes to 8 feet deep. Amazing customer service. Super clean! So happy with the stay. Showing some signs of age in the bathroom but so clean so a non-issue.

The staff was very friendly and helpful! We enjoyed the free breakfast and late checkout! The warmth of the pool and spa’s lush live plants and clear clean water were inviting and refreshing. The entire hotel was very clean! The pillows were nice and supple! My dog, Stellar, had a stellar stay as well! Thank you!!

As far as my experience went, the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had two poolside rooms and they were able to give us joining rooms when we checked in. The rooms were clean, the bedding was fresh and crisp. I thought the bed was just a tiny bit too soft, but very comfortable and the pillows perfect for me and I kept well. Housekeeping was very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here before and will again.

Great place to stay! Suite was awesome, quiet on a busy weekend, clean and comfortable. Tim did a great job in making our stay welcoming, and he provided excellent service! We brought him a kuchen (German dessert) on our return to Pierre to thank him for his excellent customer service!

The Ramkota is the perfect hotel for a group gathering! Their pool, commons outside the pool and dining areas are all conducive to big groups gathering. We also loved that we could park right next to an outside door and had a door to the inside hallway. This is especially good for those with special needs (we were there for state Special Olympics in March). The real bonus was that their staff found my child’s Wifi-enabled phone and called to let us know. I definitely would stay there again!

The folks at the front desk were so kind and accommodating. They allowed us to park our motorcycles outside the front door under the canopy in the event it rained. Gave us free drink vouchers in the restaurant and handed us water right away. It was a great stay. Good food in the restaurant and clean rooms, and comfy beds. Will definitely stay again.

I've been staying in a lot of hotels in my travels but nothing beats this hotels I had the best sleep so far. I'm very good at making up my room this morning but that's okay cuz I'm not a messy person when I did contact the front desk and took care of matters immediately. And ask for anything more

What can you say: this place is still kicking after decades while other microtells pop up. Always worth going to the conventions and the staff is always great! Would definitely recommend

It's a good place to stay good breakfast

This is for the gal at the concession stand while we had a pool tournament, she was very friendly and helpful and someone that liked her job, I think she was some kind of day manager or something, thanks you you did great!! Wish they would stay open longer with all the players still there and hungry but understand it hard to find help to work that late..thanks again!!

One night stay, but easy check-in process and the amenities were nice and clean! Loved their pool temperature, and the sauna was toasty for anybody really looking to loosen up their muscles. There's a fitness area that looked clean and I would've used it, but didn't have time for such a short stay. Would stay there again!

Tim at the front desk is an icon - always so good to see him. Also the two gals working in the bar were super welcoming and helpful! Great customer service and a good rest!

The stay I had over Thanksgiving break was good. I had a poolside room and a comfortable bed to sleep in. The room was cozy and kept me happy. The service was good and had kids out of the pool at a decent time for us to sleep.

This was the Ramkota in Pierre. Nice, basic room. Both interior and exterior access. Cable TV but the channel list didn't match up. Microwave and mini fridge. Extra outlets with USB charging ports by the bedside are a nice touch. Not a free breakfast but a $3 discount at the affiliated restaurant. I believe there is a pool but I didn't go there.

It was a good experience. Rooms were clean, service was good, but the real standout was our bartender Ben. He was very accommodating to check TV channels for the game, was always attentive, and overall very accommodating and friendly. He immediately remade a drink that he believed he messed up(without being asked or noticed) and mixed every other drink perfectly, which is a rare commodity. I cant remember his last name, I think it was Leis? Bit the fact that I cant remember is sure proof that he did a great job. Thanks Ben! I'll definitely be back there.

The meetings rooms down stairs were easy to find, the staff were great n so was the restaurant. The hotel location was in perfect, just as enter Pierre.

The Ramkota is a great place for events. They have a great staff to cater to the event and they have plenty of space for that convention you've been organizing. When not indoors you can take a stroll on the river which is just a few feet away. I definitely recommend for the next gathering or convention.

Was at a wedding reception. The decor was fantastic for an older convention center-they did a great job with the setup, and the lights. The pork loin in cream sauce was excellent.
