The Half Nelson

Excellent food, pleasant atmosphere (except a bit noisy). Our waitress was very attentive. First we had the Crab Beignets, which were delicious. Three of us had the Scallops, which was good; one had fish. Dessert was turtle cheesecake and coconut creme cake.

We asked several people where to eat as we were in town for a conference. This place was highly recommended. It was within walking distance to our hotel. It has a beautiful interior with modern touches. The food was delicious. We had the crab appetizer which was very good. My salmon was cooked to perfection and my husband got a burger with the most delectable fries. Large portions and very good service.

I want a cocktail glass of the Madeira sauce with mushroom demi glaze that is on the pork chop. Half Nelson never disappoints. The staff is always friendly. The themed drinks are always delicious.

Delicious 💫💫💫. We went there last night to celebrate our 8 year anniversary. Oh yum. The drinks were one point, appetizers were amazing and our entries were just as good. We had clean plates. Oh yeah we had dessert as well and that was awesome! We will definitely returning. No wonder this place is ranked #1 in dport.

Atmosphere was very nice and quiet. The host was very nice and our waiter was very polite and helpful.

Appetizers: Carne Asada Flatbread and Arancini de Riso.
Entries: Filet Mignon and Pork Madirea
Dessert: Lemon Blueberry layered cake and Creme brulee.

Very nice place with great tasting food. Service was great and we did not have a reservation but with only two at around 530 they just sat us down. Brisket burger with bacon jam and arugula tasted amazing.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Prices for food was a bit high. However, wine prices were very reasonable. Food was amazing. Service was great. We were there New Year's Eve. It was very busy but 5 of us were in an out within 90 minutes. Will be back.

This was my first time here and it was an unexpectedly great meal. The decor is flawless - classy and comfortable. My cocktail and my wife’s pomegranate juice-based mocktail were delicious. The pecan-crusted fried chicken and the barramundi were refined, balanced, tasty dishes. I used to live in NYC for a long time and a restaurant of this quality there would easily cost twice as much. I’ll be back.

Just had the most amazing ribeye here! Decided to splurge and order the Cowboy Ribeye for $60. For a minute I had second thoughts as I was worried it wasn't often ordered and that maybe the steak had been sitting awhile or frozen. Wrong! This was the best steak I've had while out to eat. Perfectly marbled, juicy, and the fat melted in your mouth. I often come away disappointed by steak at fine dining establishments, I was not this time! I will be back!

Just unbelievably good food and amazing service! Drop your plans for your next night out and hit Half Nelson! You WILL NOT regret it!!

My fiancé and I came here this weekend for my birthday. We loved this restaurant. First, the space is beautifully designed. I was really impressed with the decor and how well they’ve designed the space.

Second, the food was all wonderful. I ordered the steak churrasco and my fiancé ordered the bucktown burger. My veggies were seasoned perfectly and my fiancé’s fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. We also ordered the fried green tomato BLT appetizer and loved it. We were both a little hesitant about the pimento cheese, but the flavors came together perfectly and it was presented beautifully.

Lastly, our server, Ry (sorry if spelled incorrectly) was outstanding. He was so friendly, helped me choose between two entrees I was considering, and helped me select a wine with my entree.

We will definitely be coming here again. There are many items on the menu we’d like to try! Great addition to Davenport.

From drinks to salad to dinner and dessert, everything was simply amazing. The beet salad was bursting with flavor, scallops melted in your mouth, the pistachio barramundi was cooked perfectly... I just can't say enough about how brilliantly this food is prepared.

Half Nelson is my favorite special occasion restaurant. It’s a little more upscale/pricey than I would go to for a regular casual dinner, but it’s a once a month must. The pecan chicken is my stand by, but for my birthday I got the steak and lobster and it didn’t disappoint. Drinks are great, the steak flatbread is the best appetizer and the Crème brûlée dessert was amazing! I also appreciate the ability to make reservations, and the layout of the restaurant never feels a overwhelming in a pandemic life. Service is always great as well.

By far the best restaurant in the QC. I’ve been here at least 10 times and it is amazing every single time. Do yourself a favor and get the huge ribeye special on the menu, it’s unreal how good it is. Every restaurant we go to now we compare it to here and nothing has been up to par with 1/2 Nelson. 👏✨

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant! I had the best scallop capellini ever! The Crab Binet as the appetizer is a must! Our waitress was friendly and helpful and the wait was short!

Good cocktail menu + even better food menu. Scallops Capellini was perfectly fresh + light tasting. The B*tch Be Cool could have been a HAIR sweeter, but not by much. All around wonderful dining experience + will absolutely be back.

Great atmosphere and great food. Menu changes regularly and haven't found something I don't like. Hosted a rehearsal dinner here and everyone loved the place. Options for vegans and vegetarians. Fries, cheese grits and herb mashed potatoes are the best I've ever had.

Absolutely amazing, came for our three year anniversary and was given a complimentary drink, service was amazing and everything tasted perfectly cooked. Rosé had an amazing aftertaste. Amazing creme brûlée, thank you Cierra 🥰

Wife and I had a wonderful experience. From appetizers to dessert the food was terrific. Alexis was a very attentive and professional server. We look forward to our next visit.
