Genesee County Friend of the Court

I always have a very orderly, and a well communicated experience with Friend Of The Court (Genesee County). My questions are always answered and I receive as much help as I need, when I call for assistance with my case.

Very helpful told me what i needed to do and who to send the letter to.

I keep calling the child support number and it want give me any information. When I do call the other number I do speak with someone. But I do get the run around about the child support I been waiting on since last month. I was told it should be 45 days before it was sent and I'm still waiting I was hoping I had it before Christmas. People just don't care like they used to.

Difficulty getting FOC to do their job and obtain child support . Genesee county wants monthly complaints every month, month after month. Just do your job.

They Lie and steal ppls child support without legit reasons. They need to be audited and investigated !

Update to the response from FOC , there will not be anymore calls or discussions with your office, there will be grievances filed against that office and all who work there about all the mishandling and misleading and lies and b.s answers and excuses , the amount of money this office scams from the people of this area , y'all need to be in prison or do your jobs correctly cause there's a group of us who's totalling up all the money we're missing and this office is taking without legal judgments or reasoning , child support isnt taxed and the state of Michigan is not entitled 75% of those payments even if a family is on stare assistance , fricken communists!

I try to be respectful and not speak my mind but geez! I’m disappointed with Genesee County FOC. All I hear are words, and they don’t have any meanings. I’ve called a case worker three times on three different days and haven’t received a callback. But you got time to respond to google reviews, OK! I shouldn't have to reach out to your supervisor for assistance! I understand you have over 40,000 cases, but what does that have to do with me? You applied for the job and not me. As a parent, you shouldn’t feel helpless, especially if you're coming and seeking help. How does a person go to court constantly, and a judge/referee's order doesn’t mean anything, and you say there are consequences, but you never follow through with them.. What a waste of time and money. You spend thousand of dollars, and seven years later, you still don’t get a resolution.

And let me mention that they sent me a letter telling me I had to write them a letter requesting a cost of living increase for child support. But didn't you get the cost of living increase on your wages, and did you have to submit a letter asking for that? I'm sure you didn't. It looks like you're sending people thru hoops, and you're making more work for yourselves.

Also, if the judge awarded me four years ago $564 a month, why am I only receiving $200 to $300 a month? Explain that, please!!

Lastly, I don't need a response on this review I just need you to do your job, act like you like your job, and do right by these kids!

Wow, you responded to an internet review in twelve minutes but I can't a return phone call and I started calling on March 3? More work you telling me I gotta do to get some help.

Take you money from tax refunds from years past. Than dig in bank account. Only to find out months latter money was not applied. Have no idea what going on. Says it takes months maybe to apply. So who gets interest and the money until? FOC is make mom's single. They benefit more this way. No penalty for having 3 or 4 baby daddy's. Go fund your little program since you take like 20 percent for yourself.

When it comes to reviews and ratings believe the hype! This place is laughable and employees contradict themselves. Honestly feels their only here to generate money for the county! Not to help either parent! Good luck and make sure you bring your wallet and patience. If you have any issue they are sure willing to take your money and offer no help. The higher ups running this department are a special kind of scum

Worst experience cannot give straight forward answers on nothing it’s like they don’t even know there job 🫣 multiple child support payments have been taken and none of it has been received 🤔 and they have no idea why LOL

They literally dont include the fathers opinion and only ask mothers opinion when it comes to their children. Illegal

They do not follow michigan child support guidelines for fathers, only mothers. They do not know what is in their own friend of the court handbook. You show them and they just ignore you. Outstanding people really. Its illegal what you do.

They follow law differently for mothers than fathers and only apply Certain aspects of law to benefit the mother that go against the father. Illegal

The discrimination I have faced by those within the FOC and Genesee county court system is unbelievable and a shock that this still goes on. These people need to be held responsible.

Whats funny is the court system (judge, lawyers, friend of the court) allow all of this activity to go on for a year and a half. They rack up thousands of dollars together. They create issues and unnecessary court time by working together in a sense. Sounds like “Racketeering.”

Then they unfairly overcharge one parent for child support. No matter what the law says or the circumstances are. They just do whatever they want. They call it child support. Really we all know what they call child support all goes towards paying for his attorney bills accumulated over the last year and a half.

Child support is more like attorney support. The next three years of child support really all go towards the attorney fees racked up. Why would the other client care what the cost is and how long the case gets dragged on for. I basically pay for both attorneys and they call it child support. The children do not benefit from the money scammed away from them. What a system. Joke. Scam families and children one at a time so they can drive around in their Cadillacs.

Who am I. Just another family, father, and child scammed by these people.

Can’t ever get ahold of anyone. To file a non support complaint. I have 2 toddlers to support with no income. This has been going on for months. I received in January 2020 $14 for 2 kids. My first and last payment ever. My daughter will 5 in December. So, $7 per kid in 5 years. Smdh What a joke

I have been trying for over 5 years to get a modification to my case. There have been numerous written requests sent in. There have been numerous phone calls made. Every time I have been told they don't know what happened to it. In 16 years I have not been granted a modification. My children's father has. When he was unemployed they lowered his support order. However, for the last 6 years that he has been VERY GAINFULLY employed they have not once accepted or responded to my written requests. $114 a month for two children? I bust my butt working to provide basic necessities for my children. I expect the same from their father. Is that too much to ask?!

Been waiting on some phone number they sent me on a paper.Listening to there music.No one has yet to answer a hour and a half.All this to set up payment arrangement for past due balance I am cripple and have major health isssues.I don't have the ability to hang on the phone for hour's.I know lots of calls not enough staff I get all that.But when I get a notice on Friday evening to call asap.And I call no one anwsers I hope. Yous get this worked out soon.And so you know I'm still on the line to try to set this up.please hurry . please and thank you

For a year they over payed themselves from my paycheck for child support and gave it to my ex wife. Then when I caught it and asked for my money back they said no... because they had already given it away. So I asked if it counted towards my future payments, also no, "because the court order says you have to pay every month." Everyone that works there is salty and soulless.

It's flip coin to see who wins.. very rare doesn't ever have anything to do with what's best for the child or children..
I have a case of Oakland County as well... they truly look at what's going on and do what's best for the child or children.
If you can get a mediator outside of the court that helps communication between you and the other parent to help make good decision together for what's best for the child or children sometimes can be remarkable.. Good Luck!!
