Aventine Cemetery

Aventine Cemetery off Chavez is connected to Avendale Cemetery. Aventine Cemetery is owned by the City of Flint and Avondale is owned by Covenant Cemetery Services. Aventine is the historical place for Camp Thomson, a training facility named after Colonel Thomson and several Civil War Veterans are buried in this cemetery. The Brothers of Governor Crapo Camp No. 145 adopted this cemetery as a camp project and do regular ground maintenance where you can volunteer to help assist with their maintenance efforts. This group also has a Memorial Service every year. Aventine Cemetery is better maintained than Avendale and it has an opportunity to become really beautiful if more funds were spent or donated for cemetery restoration and preservation.
