After a long day traversing the north shore, we stopped in for dinner before our drive back to the cities. It was phenomenal and some of the best food I've had in Minnesota. Adam's recommendations were on point, the oysters were the best I've had since living away from the coast, and the star of the show was the quail dish. We're still talking about the peas and mushrooms! The lobster roll was the best I've had inland. I'm a sucker for gorgeous plating and they nailed that. We absolutely will make the trek back when it gets warmer to enjoy the patio and view and look forward to bringing others with us.

Wow! I haven’t been here in years, and was absolutely blown away. Inside is tranquil, warm and inviting. The service was absolutely fantastic- we asked for pairings and the suggestions did not disappoint! The deviled eggs were scrumptious, the French onion soup was delicious and the beef tips were perfectly seasoned and tender. I had the winter salad- so scrumptious! I can’t wait to come back, first stop, the next time we’re on the north shore!

Phenomenal experience. Our service was beyond anything I’ve had before anywhere. I loved the atmosphere, the food was delicious (a seasonal menu which can be pretty intimidating for someone with my food limitations, but we did find something on the menu this time of year to feed me.) I got the gravlax, a Swedish dish I miss greatly, and it was great! Simple, relatively small, but filling.

The New Scenic Cafe gave us the perfect anniversary dinner. The best French onion soup I’ve ever had, the tuna tacos, the venison strip steak, the cheeseburger, the cardamom bread pudding, the bread basket, the bollinis (peach schnapps and Prosecco), the wine, the beer, and the coffee, AND the warm pistachios at the beginning were all served at the perfect temperature, all with excellent flavors and textures! And server Lara didn’t miss a beat despite having at least 6 tables at once. The NSC is a must stop while on the North Shore!

What an absolute gem! Eater did well to rank this spot as one of the must dos of Duluth! Great location on the North shore. Service was professional and courteous. Food was creative and delicious. Wine list was concise but on point. I tried the Borscht, it was beautiful and tasted even better. The Piquillo Peppers were an amazing fusion and of east meets west. The venison strip loin makes it a proper Minnesota meal! The Pots de crème to finish was perfect! Do yourself a favor and visit this spot at least once!

Truly loved our experience. Food was excellent, staff were polite and accommodating!

Very interesting menu with words I never knew. Our server was happy to help educate, so I felt comfortable, appreciated learning and was excited to try new things.

We ordered the pork, salmon and lamb. All were very delicious!! The baked items also are stunning. Many people raved about them as we were there. 👍🏼😛

If I didn’t have a chocolate croissant an hour before arriving, I most definitely would have purchased the LAST one I saw! 😍

What a treat! A wonderful restaurant that lives up to its name. The smorgasbord was the highlight, as was the goat’s milk creme brûlée with lingonberries and a ginger snap. It’s been a year since I visited this restaurant, and I still think about those two dishes. The service was very attentive, and I loved the rustic decor.

I drove for over 2 hrs to get to this little beautiful place, as I'm staying in Minneapolis. Having a spectacular view of Lake Superior made the ride amazing. When I got there, I was so friendly welcomed and taken to my table.
A few minutes later the most nice and friendly waitres greeted me and answered my questions about the menu.
The food has a touch of Nordic to it, so I was very excited to experience a bit of their cuisine.
I had an open-faced sandwich with pork, onions, bacon, apples, a bit of mustard grains and some watercress on top and bread on the side.
Let me tell you, it was magnificent. The dish was everything she promissed... and more. The onions and the apple gave it the nice sweet to contrast with the mustard and of course, pork and apples it's an awesome combination.
Also, the apple was still crunchy enough to provide another texture to the bite. The watercress was fresh and the pork at the bottom of the cast iron skillet was so tender the knife was not needed for it.
Amazing food, awesome view and a great service. Once in a lifetime experience to get there and enjoy a delightful place.

This is hands down one of the greatest dining experiences I have ever had. The service was impeccable. Everyone was really friendly and attentive. The food is unbelievable. I got the compressed cucumbers, braised lamb with polenta, and a chocolate dessert. The sauce with the lamb was so good that I order bread to be able to clean the plate! Every plate had such a delicious and well balanced combination of flavors. I will definitely need to come back the next time I’m in Duluth!!

Fine dining with a North Shore twist. The quality and service are outstanding for both foodies and Northmen alike. I've watched this restaurant grow and mature and it is by far my favorite establishment.

A truly one of a kind experience. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to as far as every aspect of dining goes. Scenery, ambiance, service, food, and everything in between.
I sat at the waiting area to dine as the host said it was an option and it was just me so I didn’t want to keep a whole table for myself when there were groups waiting. Lauren the host was really fantastic and friendly which made for a great experience regardless of where I sat.
That food though. Generous portions without compromising exceptional quality.
I will certainly be back.

Don't pass up this classy cafe along Minnesota's north shore just outside of Duluth. The service we received was friendly and attentive and the menu offered unique options. Be sure to peek at the bakery items on the way out as well!

Wow! We had an evening in Duluth and were in search of a good meal. And we couldn’t be happier we came to New Scenic Cafe! We stated with the scallop ceviche which was impeccable. My husband had the lamb which he loved and I had the best piece of sea bass I’ve had in a restaurant. We finished the evening with the pots de crème! The perfect evening with fabulous food, quaint ambiance and beautiful outdoor space! We will be back!

The Scenic never disappoints. I was there for lunch recently and it was magical. The bakery lures you in and sets up the expectation of delectable things to come. Of course I had to have the iconic Blue cheese and fig appetizer. I often make it at home but it’s never quite as good. We split the beet appetizer and I had a bowl of mushroom and goat cheese soup that was so silky and robustly delicious. The French bread was so light and crunchy it reminds me of New Orleans style daily bread. I can’t wait to go back.

One of the best restaurants in the state. Never had a disappointing dining experience at the NSC. Enjoyed the goat cheese appetizer. Barb had the wild mushroom crepe entree and I had seared sea scallops. Wines recommended by our server Adam were well matched to our entrees, reisling with the scallops and gruner veltliner paired nicely with the mushroom crepe. Dessert and coffee rounded out the evening.

My wife and I love new scenic cafe and we make it a staple of our visits to the north shore of lake superior. We enjoyed visiting during the daylight to see over the great lake. Best advice is to take on the adventure of the always changing menu items with something that fits your mood and palate.

This place is a gem.
We enjoyed the oysters on the half shell, served with the perfect condiments.
We will definitely return to try some of the other menu items, like the duck and pheasant. And amazing desserts with great coffee.

I really enjoyed eating an upscale yet streamlined meal here. All the dishes were well planned and assembled, and rely more on quality of ingredients and preparation, than fancy plating and exotic ingredients. I think it speaks volumes when a board of smoked fish, pickles, and eggs can be the highlight of the meal. I loved the decor- lots of wood, branches, etc.

New Nordic cuisine in super cute, dare I say hygge décorated interior. Beautiful & affordable pastry case up front with all kinds of pastries (not much gf). Very nice & tasty. Would go back &/or recommend.
