Cool little old jail in Jerome Arizona, sits next to a parking lot. Has a plaque out front with the history of the location.

I love that they don't embellish the history of this little jail. They clearly state that the jail was moved to its final resting place to clear the road it had landed on when it quit moving on its own. It appears that there have been some efforts to preserve the jail, but if they do not take further measures there may be nothing left to see but a pile of rubble. So if this is something you would like to see, get up here while you can.

It was a rainy day and we made an extra stop to cruise through Jerome. My kids thought a jail sliding through town was pretty cool so we were glad to get a little wet to take a peak inside and grab a few photos. In my previous trip, I did a ghost hunting tour that also visited the jail and we brought out am/fm radios and asked the ghosts questions. It was pretty interesting.

I love Jerome! So much to see in such a small area. All the little shops are great, and I have to get my burger fix at the Haunted Hamburger every time I visit

It's an old jail. Historically it's really cool but the building is really falling apart and unfortunately people had to graffiti on the inside. There's an amazing view to see by the jail though and the small town there is really nice.

I visited Jerome in 2019 and ran out of time to see the sliding jail, but had a great lunch at Bobby D's Barbecue located in one of Jerome's historic buildings. Some friends who had visited before had positive comments about other local restaurants. It's a great little town full of history and hauntings. I have to mention the breathtaking views of open space looking out towards Sedona and snow capped Frisco Peaks beyond. I love this town and intend to return again.

Interesting tidbit of local history. I've been going to Jerome for nearly 20 years. When I first saw this place, it wasn't moored in place. Over the years I noticed how much damage its slow slide down the hill was doing to it, so I am glad that the Jerome Historical Society took it over in 2017 and locked 'er in place. While the building's getaway has been stopped, the legacy of the slide can be seen in the odd position the building ended up in.

We drove through Jerome last year coming from Sedona going back to Cali. We made sure next time that we go back to Az we will stop by and spend some time to explore this city. It has a very interesting history, rustic place and friendly people. They have one winding street goes through the town. We love it!

It’s a small museum however very informative. It only cost $2 per person. It’s in the back of the store. The store is cute.

Sitting down near the first big parking lot it is more a little place to stop than a destination. It was pretty neat theview from that area are really nice. My 7, 9 and 11 year old were surprised and interested to take a look at the Sliding Jail.

Jerome's hospitality never fails; from an overnight stay at the Conner Hotel to a historical visit to the Douglas Museum or just walking down Main Street reading all of the historical plaques placed throughout the town, a visitor will never be disappointed. There are restaurants bars and specialty shops galore to keep you in Jerome for an entire day. All of these wonderful things to do topped off with the friendliest people and a million dollar view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, you're missing one of Arizona's wonders of the world if you miss it. Oh and I tell you, Jerome is the largest GHOST TOWN in our country! Come for a visit, if you dare!
