I can honestly say that Dr. Akauola saved my life. I would recommend to all that wants that personal care treatment.

I changed insurance plans effective 1/1/2016. I selected an HMO which required me to choose a PCP. After looking over the provider network, I selected a doctor closes to my home, thinking I would have to change several times before finding a fit. Fortunate for me, Dr. Diane Johnson turned out to be one of the best doctors I've ever had. She is kind, caring and considerate. In addition, Her staff is wonderful. They have been very helpful in getting the referrals I needed to continue my treatment with my current specialists. I've never had such a great group of people in charge of my health. I'm one of the lucky ones thanks to Virginia Family Physicians and Dr. Johnson.

Dr. Todd Reynolds is my doctor and I have only good things to say about him. He takes his time with his patients and answers questions without trying to push you out the door. He seems to genuinely care for his patients. He responds quickly through the portal. In my opinion, he's the best doctor in this office.

Front office staff have always been very friendly, not sure why so many people claim otherwise. Dr. Johnson is top notch. All the nurses take time to listen to you, and take excellent notes before the physician even comes in to see you. Right off the bat my first visit was great. I have spent the last 10 years in and out with other Dr's and every year I have ended up with multiple ER visits and a lot of missed work time. My first year under Dr. Johnson's care, is the first time in over a decade I have had no ER visits, and are feeling healthy. The patient portal they provide is quick and easy to use. All my info I can update through the site instantly

I've been going to this practice for many years and would be devastated if I had to switch. I started with Dr. Beckom who retired a few years later. My file was switched over to Dr. Palen, and I have loved her since our first visit. She listens to me, understands my quirks, takes good care of me, and she is a hugger! She told me that during our first visit. I'm so glad she is my physician. The front office staff have always been friendly and welcoming. I was ill last week, and Dr. Palen wasn't in the office that day. I was seen by Dr. Reynolds that afternoon, and was very pleased with his friendliness and knowledge. He answered all my questions, diagnosed my sinus infection quickly and gave me meds. Thank you to this group. I've seen 3 of the doctors and have been pleased each time.

I've been a patient of Dr Taminger's for many years, and I love him!! I've also seen other physicians in this practice, and I found every one of them to be kind and caring in the treatment of their patients. The staff is all very polite and courteous. What I really like is that the doctors and nurses do the treatment, and the office staff take care of the business end of the practice. Sometimes you see medical personnel trying to figure out billing, but not at VA Family Physicians. I personally believe that that is as it should be. The Midlothian branch is very busy, and sometimes it's necessary to book a routine office visit well in advance, but if that's the only problem with this practice, I would take them in a heartbeat!!

I'm surprised at some of the reviews here. I've been coming to VFP for several years and have always been pleased. I recommend them to everyone. I can usually get in quickly & if my Dr isn't available fast enough, I can still see someone else. Not only that, but my Dr knows me, really remembers about me. He lets me have a say in my care & never recommends ridiculous stuff. Front office staff is fine. Are they overly exuberant? No. But they're courteous and effective.

Dr. Diane Johnson is a very compassionate and competent practitioner. Being in the healthcare field myself, I am always asking questions to see if the practitioner is right for me. I know I have to be my own advocate because things are sometimes missed but in this case, I feel like I can rely on her and I trust her completely. She listens to my concerns and I feel she genuinely cares. I highly recommend her as a PCP.

I have found the practice to be great and have gone there for 20 years. I followed Dr. Beckom from another office, but am very happy with Dr. Palen, Dr. Haake-Golden and Dr. Johnson as well. I am not often sick, but have never had trouble getting in at least the next day. To me, a busy office means there are good doctors. The doctors all listen to what I have to say. When a medication did not work for me, the office staff spoke with the doctor and had something else called in. I have never had a problem.

When Dr Neeley left the practice I was worried but Dr Todd Reynolds is my doctor now and he’s wonderful. I’ve never had any problems with the practice and find the office staff, and nurses all friendly and helpful

Dr. Reynolds is knowledgeable, personable, and on time. He handles my medical issues in a highly competent fashion. Responds to inquiries through the patient portal in a timely manner. I have not had any issues with the office staff. Not that it matters, but I am a physician as well.

I have been going to Dr. Ellen Palen for years. I am so glad that I found her, because she listens and takes every sickness as if it were her own. You are not just a file number or a buck with her. Dr. Palen remembers your family history and always interested in finding out how things are going. I would not leave her care for NO REASON!! A very busy office, and I have never had an issue with the office staff. Some people, you just can't please them, no matter what you do. You will not be disappointed!! ALWAYS A FAN!!

Dr Gooss at Sommerville Family practice location, is excellent! Caring, takes time to talk and explain, and answer questions I have. The staff is friendly and kind.

Great office and staff. Fyi you can use the free wifi from the dentist office next door if you find yourself with low/no cell signal inside.

I visit the family physicians location on Charter Colony. They are so kind and helpful. Just called this am and Emily was very quick and helpful with helping with the patient portal. Thanks Emily!!

I have been a patient or Dr. Haacke-Golden's for many years. Love him. He takes the time to actually listen, and will go out of his way to figure out what is going on and get you all fixed up.
