Hill City Café

Everything about this place is cool. Exactly what you would expect for Hill City. And great food. We had breakfast there. Opted for the all you can eat since it was ready. They had everything you would expect for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, two kinds of sausage, bacon, omelettes, pancakes and french toast. And fruit, etc. Everything was great!

Nice little local bar that is part of the Cafe actually. Bar is small but lots of indoor seating.

They have all you can eat ribs, salad bar and full menu. Staff is great and friendly.

Like I said I thought this was a bar restaurant but really it's the Cafe with a small bar attached. Either way cool place to grab a beer, dinner or both.

We drove to Hill City on a Sunday to have lunch at the Cafe. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant. But she got everyone taken care on and the food came to the table hot and very tasty. If you are tired of Rapid City Restaurants try taking a little trip to Hill City.

Saturday morning buffet at 0600.

Pleasant ebullient staff. One spontaneously will play guitar and sing in between being pleasantly attentive to guests. Good tasting basic scrambled eggs, three meats, fresh biscuits and gravy, potatoes prepared x3 ways. Wide variety of fresh cut fruit with some canned.

It was really great. The food was hot and the portions were adequate for the price. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Our waitress was fenominal and she kept our coffee full and service steady all while walking her daughter to school. Dedicated!
The food was very good and unique menu items. I ordered the breakfast Burrito and my wife had bacon and 2 eggs and everything was fast and friendly service even though they could tell we weren't locals. I would highly recommend this place!

The staff was friendly, the food was AMAZING! The Buffalo burger was cooked to PERFECTION, it wasn't dry like most places. The strawberry rhubarb pie had amazing flavor as well. I purchased 2 caramel rolls and can't wait to try them tomorrow. Thank you for a great experience on vacation. I will definitely come back.

This food was very good. I don't usually eat fries but they were amazing, light and crispy. The steak was fabulous. We were told to go to Alpine Inn for good food but after we did we definitely came back to Hill City Cafe for a much better repeat experience.

This place is AMAZING. We stopped by for breakfast after visiting Mt. Rushmore and we’re immediately greeted with the friendliest of staff. The place looks like your local ma and pa cafe—and the food tastes like your grandmother made it! My boyfriend and I both got the chicken fried steak and man…I don’t even know where to start. It was massive. It was homemade. It was delicious. We both left with full, happy bellies. So wish we were from the arena because we would visit this spot all the time!

Excellent service and great food! The atmosphere has a nice hometown feel to it and everyone is pleasantly friendly. Decent amount of food for a reasonable price; cinnamon bun was ginormous and delicious; you won't be disappointed!

Our server, Crystal took excellent care of us. Hill City had the Wine, Brew, & BBQ festival going on and all the restaurants were very busy and short staffed despite being busy The Hill City Cafe still delivered excellent service and food. We had a party of 5 and we all agreed our food was delicious- we would definitely dine here again.

Hill City Cafe is a cozy restaurant with fantastic savory breakfasts.  They have omelettes, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and other plates.  I had the biscuits and gravy, it's creamy and meaty, exactly what I needed on a cold day.  The cinnamon roll is a huge thing that could serve 3 people. It's warm and fluffy, and comes with either cream cheese icing or caramel sauce.

Great and friendly workers. Stoped few times to eat during our stay. Food is great especially frog legs. Hope to be back in 2025.

We had dinner at Hill City Dinner.. my husband and I were impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, the service and the food. Price VERY fair I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh and the waitress and her fiancé gave us information on where to go shopping 🛍😁 and where we can see real buffalo’s🦬. Both were very knowledgeable and super friendly which we loved 🥰. Food was delicious and the portions were perfect - which we also liked. Thanks for serving us ❤🙏🏼.

The Tatanka Burgers were good. Staff was great. Not far from the depot and close to many nice stores and shops.

What you'd expect from a small town cafe. It was Monday and the only open cafe in town. We waited about 25 min for seating and made small talk with other patrons. Got tips for things to do or see in the area. The staff was friendly but direct and down to business. Did not wait long for food and it was as ordered. The bathrooms were newly done-spacious and clean.

Great food and staff. Renee is the best waitress I've seen in long time. Laughing and checking on us.

Great Service & Amazing Food!

The Steak was Delicious! Nice and Tender. The shrimp was fresh (the sauce was a little strong for me but truthfully the shrimp didn't need it). The mash was thick and flavorful. The Veggies were ok not bad but not great. Cheryl was the sweetest, very attentive & kind. Everyone I was with loved the food. The Drums were crispy and yummy. The jalapeño poppers were super yummy - full of flavored cream cheese. The chicken fried steak was great but I'm not a gravy train lover and would do with the gravy on the side and the roast beef sandwich also had gravy all over it - again Delicious but I could do without the gravy train.

We came around 9:30pm and they were still happy to serve us even while they were closing at 10pm. There was another family wrapping up when we came in. Pretty clean, fresh, and cool inside.

We had hamburgers 1st night, they were delicious. 2nd night I had a open face roast beef, the meat was nothing but fat, could not eat it.

I have been going to the Hill City Cafe for years. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Cafe is clean , and there is plenty of seating . The buffet is very good and food off the menu is very good. Family atmosphere. It kinda reminds me of the cafes 20-30 years ago.
