Desperados

One of the nicest waitress (can't remember her name. Medium length, straight black hair with bangs)!!! We've ate at a couple places in town and this is definitely a winner! Prices aren't very high, and the food was delicious!

* Those eating with our party likes the salad dressing, I loved the pasta, bit the chicken fried steak I guess was not the best, but okay*

Definitely go again! It's also a historic building in the area (see pic)!!

We waited about 35 minutes to be seated. They were,like so many other businesses, so short staffed. They did a wonderful job and the steak I had was one of the best I have ever had. The side veggies were cooked fresh, not from a can or frozen. I would be happy to visit again. Loved it!!

Loved the Buffalo burger!! Service and atmosphere was great. Glad we made pigs of ourselves and had the apple pie ala mode. It was Delicious!!! Having a great meal at Desperados really added to our trip to the Black Hills. Highly recommend and we will be back on a future visit to Hill City.

The walleye was delicious..just fair warning there are bones. The green beans and sweet tater fries were amazing, too! Our waitress was brand new and did a fantastic job. Definitely stop in for a great atmosphere and delicious food. ** the portions are large..my portion shows what I shared with my mama.

Good food is hard to find in small touristy towns like these, so we were pleasantly surprised when visiting Desperados for lunch. The hot open faced beef sandwich was delicious! The historic building is also very interesting.

My burger was perfect, and love their fries. I asked for medium rare, which rarely gets done right, and I have never had one so perfect. I would suggest that they toast the bottom bun of the Burger. That way it won't be a soggy squishy flat mess.

Stopped in when hungry on a road trip thru South Dakota. Was not disappointed. Friendly server, very good food, decent prices. Would be a regular stop if I was a local.

Great west atmosphere, fun wooden tables and ceramic hat lights. Friendly and attentive staff. Lunch menu is different than dinner menu. Burgers and salads on lunch menu. The desperado burger and hot hamburger were very delicious. Fries were perfectly seasoned and amazing!

Even though they were very busy, the staff was super friendly. My waitress was quick to answer all of my questions, offer suggestions, and came by to check on me regularly. The food was excellent, cooked to order, and I would definitely go back given the chance!

This place was perfect for our fam of 5 returning from long day of biking the Mick trail. We arrived ravenous and eager for a quick meal so that we could arrive home for a sunset view. We first arrived I literally said to myself “oh boy this could be the kind of place that takes forever for service because maybe they’re understaffed because of Covid, etc...” and not to mention it seemed actually fairly busy All things considered a pandemic
Once we were eventually greeted by Mary, the service was exceptional and maybe the fastest meal ever received in a long long time. Warm service, just very efficient Cook staff apparently. My daughters while I was in credible, I tried the desperado burger which was also very good and my wife had a chicken sandwich-everything was delicious, no complaints and again, we were in disbelief that our food basically came within 10 minutes of placing our order -it was so nice to just get some food in a timely manner!!!!!

We were told right away that service would be slow but our food would come fast so since they were upfront about it we decided to stay. IT WAS DELICIOUS!! The staff was friendly!! Great ambiance!!

Nice place with rustic cozy decor. Good food and service too. I had the bison/elk burger for lunch and it was delicious.

Great experience. Great ribeye. Fantastic atmosphere and very friendly service. My family arrived right at closing time and the staff bent over backwards taking care of us. Hope to make it back next spring.

We were driving through and stopped! We each had the desperado burger. Buffalo and elk!!! Never had elk was afraid it would be gamy. It was delicious! Fries and onion rings were good too! Service was fast and friendly!! I’ll definitely be going again next time I go to SD!!

Great atmosphere, very clean and cozy. Good food and great service - we would certainly return.

Referred here by two locals,,wow dam good,food and service,,i was sold on those fries,never ending i quit first,,thanks to the cook and staff

Really good! I had the steak tips they were nice and tender perfectly cooked. The waitress was very friendly and provided great service. 😁

Out of all the places we ate in the Hill City/Custer/Keystone area, this was by far the best. I personally liked the brisket, it was great. Definitely a go-to if you are in the area

Despite the fact that half of the staff showed up to work today, the food and service was excellent!

The desperado was really good. The food and staff was awesome. The Mac and cheese with hotdog was cool looking
